Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

Care to elaborate? Robben at the time I could understand due to constant injuries and seemingly not wanting to be here but the other two? Clear mistakes for me.

Haven't proven to be mistakes so far. Infact so far it has looked pretty good business

Great little cameo, just the defenders hate late in the game. Costa in, doesn't mean Lukaku has to go. I hope he's a bit grounded now after the world cup, he's not ready to be the first pick yet, not even for his country.

Yeah your explanation for selling De Bruyne is really well thought out. Incidentally he's been fantastic this world cup particularly tonight, think were going to really regret not giving him a chance.

And how did selling Mata make business sense? We're constantly told how this is a results business and though it's been argued constantly since he was sold I definitely feel selling Mata cost us points and potentially trophies.

Good finish and great run. Second bit of work that drew a great save from Howard was also excellent.

Not holding his big mouth against him. Courtois' is even bigger and noone seems to mind that.

He'll be here this season playing behind Costa and it'll be up to him to prove himself.

I will stand up for your right to have your opinion even though I think you are totally wrong.

Re De Bruyne, absolutely totally thought out, have you or will you ever go down on a ginger minge? No, exactly.

Don't know how selling Mata can be seen as anything other than a mistake at this point. Oscar has been been incredibly underwhelming from the promise shown in his first season as well as Willian, Schurlle, Salah not showing enough quality and end product going forward for me. Too much burden has fallen on Hazard to create when we're up against it and though Mata's delivery wasn't always perfect it's clear to me we miss him at set pieces.

He was the game changer today and that will surely only inflate his head. Rom needs to realize he is only 20 and is no where near the world beater he claims himself to be. Today's match will inly cause more animosity due to his ego. As an American, I have seen it all too often in the NBA (which I don't watch for this very reason) where a player thinks he is far beyond his ability. Normally these young kids have inflated egos because they have been told they are the greatest from an early age and they are so out of reality. I hope he can understand his future and what lies ahead because Jose will make him one of the best but he needs to demonstrate patience and quit shooting his mouth off. It does not fair well for him because Jose will not tolerate this disturbance. In the end, if it meant Jose or Lukaku at the club there is no question Jose!

Mourinho will sell Lukaku, he sold KDB who has scored one made the other, sold Mata, sold Robben and replaced him with Malouda.

Anyone still think he's a genius.....

Yeah, I do and Jose has the trophy case to prove it. Do you live on Mars not to know this?

Well he did end up scoring the winner, and then hogged the corner camera Maradona 94 style, against a knackered USA backline.

Unlucky USA probably the best game so far, cacking future for your national team, can we have your #2 at Chelsea please ?

That would be DeAndre Yedlin. He was a last minute addition to the USNMT. He just turned 20 years old & is a work in progress.

De Bruyne didn't make it at Chelsea. He was bested, beaten by better or more in form players. He was sold end of story.

I hope we keep Lukaku BUT it means he humbles and actually tries to fight for his place. Now he is fighting against one of the best strikers in Europe and our biggest ever signing. As he is such a great and complete striker he should take this as a challenge and try to be even better. Should be easy for a player as good as he is. He has shown no signs he wants Chelsea to win. He wants to be the best in business no matter how the team does.

Im a big Lukaku apologist, BUT If anything this cameo shows who Mourinho may not like him. He came on, created the first (just he tried his best to trip up over it) he then scored a good goal. He the spent the rest of the game sat on the half way line waiting to get back in the changing room, wasnt closing guys down, seemed to be on aotupilot unless the ball go passed to hi,. It was like he said Job done lets go home lads. Didier would have worked his arse off (Christ even Torres would have), Im not sure whether this was Wilmots tactical choice for him to sit higher and provide an outlet Im not going to be too harsh but its certainly something to look out for.

Selling one of your best players to a main rival? Selling a world class player and replacing him with rubbish?

In both cases it was because the players don't work hard enough for his liking, so we end up with headless chickens like Willian and Ramires

Who was our best young player that he sold?

Just a quick note on those talking about Yedlin above.. .that kid is a baller. Very rough, but a baller none the less.

Id hoped he would be humbled by being benched but his goal will only make him worse. If we got 32 million for Lukaku i'd take it and move on. Attitude stinks.

Of course, id be happy if the stayed and played.

You a scout aye?

Yes he quite clearly is, just look at his trophy cabinet.

He certainly knows better than you it I. Plus those players you listed, Robben wanted to leave remember it's not like he was pushed or for Malouda. Who you may have forgotten was outstanding for us between 2009-2011.

Mata dud not suit the system therefore he was sold for a very generous amount of money. KDB failed to adapt here and clearly had done issues.

If last nights appearance from Lukaku showed Chelsea fans anything, it's that he has the ability to be a very effective impact sub.

Not going to get many games for us ahead of Costa but surely he would be a good option coming off the bench?

I guess it just depends if he is willing to take that role on at a title chasing team or wants regular football at a mid table club.

This is the thing if he were willing to accept that he's not number 1 right now and fight then I'd be fine with him but he thinks he should be our number 1 now without having to earn it. I definitely think he's an impact sub at best right now.

The chap who plays as striker infront of hium just now looks far more effective for Belgium.

That should tell Lukaku he has a long way to go and to get his feet back on the ground. He did really well when he came on of course but let's not forget the US were dead on their feet by that point.

That pretty much sums it up really.  ::clap2::

True

I also think he was really fortunate with the assist, as he barely had control of the ball, poor touches and the cut back wasnt very good, just worked out well on this occasion.

His goal was very well taken though.
