No one sells a player with 2 years left, why would we?

Spo on. I'm no totally sure why we are all wetting our knickers over this. As he says its up to the club because he is under contract.

I genuinely don't get the RM move. A club in decline, new manager etc.

I would have thought Barca would have been a more sensible choice especially with Iniesta coming to the end of the road.

I would just like to see him work with Sarri for a year.

The other option is to agree a fee with Madrid but keep him for 1 more year to help us get into Champs league; just like dirty Liverpool did with Keita

If he really wants to leave they should let him. No point in keeping an unhappy player. For a top player, his goal/assist output is still questionable, which may explain why Madrid have not made a serious attempt to buy him. This may be an unpopular opinion, but it would not be the end of the world if he left. He seems to be implying that Sarri will be playing defensive football, which is not accurate.

But he's not signing a new contract clearly and thats the sad/important part here.

Because if he don't we are almost forced to sell him this summer to get top money for a top player. If we sold him with a year left next summer we'd get pennies compared to what we need to get for a player like Eden.

Damn it....

He has 2 years left on the contract. There's plenty of time to get him to sign it.

RM are a club in decline? Lol.

I think we do if the option is to sell him with a year left or for free. Two years isn't that long. He could sign a pre-contract with them in a year and a half.

In Spanish football terms they are. Appreciate that they won the CL but their league form throughout last season was very dodgy. Alegedly there were also some issues behind the scenes with Zidane. I have also read that the new manager has met a tepid response so far (of course this could all be sh*t as well). With Ronaldo leaving and Bale still undecided over his future this is not the team of galacticos as it once was. The club is still some way off of Barca at the moment and for me if you were goign to spain i would have thoguht Barca was teh obvious choice especially for a player of Hazards style.

I'd rather let him run out his contract if he doesn't sign. Drogba spent 8 years here. 8 years is a good time to spend at a club and move on. For what it's worth, there's absolutely no chance we sell Hazard this summer just 3 weeks away from the start of the season with no replacement in sight. Not happening.

I still think he’ll be here next season but if he were to leave I’m fairly confident that it would be for a world record fee.

I can’t see the club being willing to let him leave and I’m not sure that Eden is the sort of player to down tools to engineer a move either.

Sounds very much to me like it always has. He's ok with staying with Chelsea, he would also be happy to move to Real Madrid, but it's up to us. One thing i am fairly confident of though is that he won't sign a new contract, if he was going to, he would have by now. If we want to keep him, then we will need to offer him something big.

I'd imagine RM would go for 100-125mil. He's not the best in the world, he's not a massive marketing draw and they don't need him.

Figures like 200m for Hazard are way off the mark.

I have a feeling he will stay for a year, mainly as we know we would need a replacement and there are no signs we have anyone in our sights.

Not with the right players around him.

Where would he play at Madrid though? He plays on the left where they have Bale, Asensio and Isco, buying either him or Neymar makes any sense as it could unbalance the team. There is a big hole on their right side that needs filling, and IMO Mbappe makes more sense.

I know there is the argument that they might be getting rid of Bale, but I can’t see it. The lose Ronaldo’s & Bale’s output in one summer and they might be stuck at 3rd place for the 2nd consecutive season.

125m or keep him for two years, so you value him at 62.5 p/season, thats fine, we waste that on our midfield every summer.

This is where Marina's stubbornness will come in very handy. If we ever got to the point where we sold him to Madrid, she will absolutely take them to the cleaners. She will milk them for every penny possible. Either way, it's not happening.

Here is the full quote by the way which offers even more context that he could be happy to stay.

"Honestly, I will go on holiday and ask myself the right questions, After six wonderful years at Chelsea it might be time to discover something different. I can decide if I want to stay or go, but Chelsea will make the final decision if they want to let me go.

“For my career, certainly after this World Cup, I’m at a moment where I might change. We all know that I’ve always felt well at Chelsea, so..... I’ve been linked to all the big clubs. Next week it will be Bayern. No I’m joking. You all know my preferred destination.”

He would prefer to go Madrid if he did leave. He hasn't decided if he wants to leave, he just wants to go on holiday and think. He had always been happy at Chelsea.

Since when have Madrid cared about balance when buying stars? I do think Neymar makes more sense from their perspective though. He's a much bigger commercial draw than Hazard. Bigger star and quite frankly a better player overall (when he's not diving).

I agree,

Also, it's easier to keep a player if you can say "look mate, they are valuing you at relatively f**k all to the other best players in the world...do you really want to go?"

Fergie once did that to Rooney.

Buy a star striker or offer 80m plus Willian to Barca for Dembele. Or sell Willian and get Bailey. Something of that sort. Have a very good season with Sarri (I see a title challenge but I won't jinx it). Offer him something like 380k or 400k pw, much more than the 300k currently on the table. Have Roman talk to him privately and make assurances. He'll sign the new contract.

I think if we got him through this summer then he could sign.

De gea did it.

Coutinho went to Barca for £150m, and Dembele for £105m I think. We will be crazy to accept anything less than £170m for him.

If we could get that, I would bring in all 3 of Bailey, Lozano & Brandt.

Coutinho also had 5 years left on his contract and Barca had just come into 200m and needed to make a statement. He was also 2 years younger than hazard is now.

125m? Might as well bend over then.....go on stick one right in. Just no way.....he is what top 3-4 in the World? Never troublesome and a nice boy to boot. If the likes of coutinho goes for 160m then go figure.....125 is an insult imo.
