The Davy Moysie Thread

Featured Replies

Thought Gollum deserves his own thread on here. He's been acting like Billy big bollocks in bis new role and he looks increasingly more like the village idiot.

His comments yesterday about utd supposedly playing well against Liverpool was absolutely comical.

Ferguson could get away with it as he had countless silverware built up, Moyes has nothing.

His comments yesterday will worry some utd fans. Bar the swansea away game they've looked awful.

Where is Kagawa, their midfield saviour? Carrick aside, their midfield is terrible.

Will Moyes last the season if he keeps this up?

He will last the season and even the next without winning anything imo.

A loss to Liverpool is terrible to United but its not like Fergie didnt lose to them in the past.

It was always going to be a tough job following someone who has been there for ages and won as much as Fergie did.

Although i do agree that Moyes has been acting like Billy big bollocks, which imo is wrong. Fergie could get away with it because no other manager in the league had his record but Moyes has dont F all really in terms of winning anything. Yes he did ok with Everton, but he didnt win anything. You look at teams like Pompy or Swansea have won the league cup in the last 5 years.

I think he is going to be in tough this year, he has no CV that impresses the players Utd have in their squad. I think that they were hoping for a world class manager and Moyes was dumped on them.  He will bring them down to Everton's level within a few short months. Their midfield is dire and has no depth, says is all if you have to pay a 40year old.  Ozil in talks with Utd apparently?

Already had some gems for him such as complaining about United's fixture list (someone forgot to tell him everyone plays everyone else twice).

With Liverpool starting well, Spurs spending big and Arsenal picking up Ozil, it could be a long season for the winless one.

He went after Fabregas, Thiago etc, and then Arsenal got Ozil at the last minute.

Wonder how he feels?

You were touting him as the perfect candidate for the Chelsea job earlier this summer/spring.

Heh heh very good.

Well, I rate Moyes and I think people are underestimating him.

Remember it's early days. Very early days.

I would have been happy with him but he would never have accepted the Chelsea job IMO, and of course, I would always have preferred Mourinho, though Mourinho brings his own problems, let's not pretend he's perfect.

I like Moyes, I find him an impressive individual and I think he did a brilliant job at Everton.

Utd will give him time, because he needs to adjust and he's got a hard job on his hands.

A great? Nope, probably not, but a fine manager I reckon, and I wasn't surprised when Utd plumped for him.

I take issue with that. Everyone says he did a great job at Everton. He did a good job, not a great one. He took Everton from a bottom half of the table club to pushing for Europa League football.

These were his finishes as manager:

01/02 - 15th

02/03 - 7th

03/04 - 17th

04/05 - 4th

05/06 - 11th

06/07 - 6th

07/08 - 5th

08/09 - 5th

09/10 - 8th

10/11 - 7th

11/12 - 7th

12/13 - 6th

In that time (11 years) they reached 1 FA cup final and lost. They made it into the CL once and got knocked out in the qualifiers.

Yes he certainly improved them and consolidated their position in the top 8 or so teams, but in 11 years he would have had to have done more to have done a "great" job in my opinion.

I have nothing against Moyes, I think he's a good manager but nothing special. He really should've won a cup or two with Everton.

I feel he'll need 2-3 years to grow into the Manu job and I'm not sure he'll get it but we'll see.

Oh, and he's a friend of Pat Nevin. Surely that counts for something.

I said a brilliant job not a great one

I know it's "a friend story" but still good to hear it:

Van Persie cut a frustrated figure at Anfield on Sunday and looked close to losing his cool several times.

A friend of Van Persie - who has been the Premier League's top scorer for the last two seasons - said: "Robin isn't happy and when that's the case he can't hide it on the pitch.

"When he's frustrated he is capable of doing something silly, and you could see that against Liverpool.

"He feels it isn't the same with the new manager as he misses working with Fergie, who he really loved playing under. Some of Moyes' training methods are not to his liking either."

Not sure if it's him or Woodward that have bodged up this transfer window but they've stolen in at the last minute to take the prize from Wenger/Gazidis as the most comical transfer negotiators of the summer.

Anyboobs they're still got a very good squad.

Actually heard Redknapp on SSN last night complaining that ManU should've gone in for Ozil and we should've gone in for Fellaini. F**k off.

To be fair to 'Arry he's spot on and I was thinking exactly the same. Arsenal are a bit like us and completely over-loaded with similar players and you have to question if you needed Ozil (I know you always need players as good as he is but surely you are lacking a Fellani type player?). Utd on the other hand are crying out for a creative player like Ozil.

^ Nibs, I understand your logic, but Arsenal have a lot more chance of challenging with Ozil in their side than Fellaini, and that's a fact Jack.

You don't mind if I call you Jack .. ?

Not sure how accountable Moyes is for the lack of transfer activity.

He clearly wanted Felliani but instead of getting the deal wrapped up early on they waited till the last minute and ended up paying £5m more than his release clause was.

The purse strings are clearly being held pretty tight at United and they appeared unwilling to meet the valuation of most their targets.

You have to wonder what Woodwood's "urgent" transfer business was that made him leave United's pre-season tour early 4-5 weeks ago.

The loss to Liverpool is only going to make the United fans doubting Moyes more nervous but you really can't write them off, especially with players such as Rooney and RVP in their team.

Course I don't mind Bob.

But I do disagree. Sure I would take Ozil over Fellani any day but with Wiltshire, the Spanish bloke, Walcott, Ramsey + a whole host of other little tricky, flicky players, I just don't see them needing Ozil. I know Fellani can be in and out, hit & miss - whatever, but you will never see Ozil totally dominate an oppenent as Fellani did against Utd last season and that, IMO is what Arsenal are lacking big-time and long may they lack that.

Nice Subject and one that without doubt will be discussed throughout the season " or until atleast xmas when they are sitting 7th or 8th ".

Ok back on track. So he talks the talk but can he walk the walk? His track record says NO, the facts being that Mr Moyes's trophy cabinet remains empty " bar a charity shield, but thats a shield not a trophy right? ". When you look back over the last 10 seasons at some of the teams that have made it to Wembley and got their hands on the FA Cup " Pompey and Wigan off the top of my head " and then throw Stoke and Bolton into the Big Push for the top 6 in the premier league where was Moyes's Everton? Sure they was hanging out the front trying to get noticed but the trophy count still stood for 10 seasons played but não há pontos " Just like Jose would say it ". All Mr Moyes has proved so far is showing the credentials for the earliest Keeganesque break down in premier league history. In all seriousness he will most probably get by going one season without winning anything but if his own premier league record by the end of next season reads : Seasons 12 Trophys ZERO i think he will be collecting his P45 and heading back to Bill Kenwright with a verbal apology for trying to mug him off royally in public with cowardly first bids for their best players.

Course I don't mind Bob.

Listen Duncan, I've had enough of this. Ozil is simply a fabulous player. Top 10 in the world, easily. He pisses all over Arsenal's other tricky flicky players, and that's just the plain truth, Ruth.

Funny. But he still isn't the right fit. So on that basis, I'm out. And you're wrong. Again. Brian.

A David Moyes thread abou Ozil? Hah!

But really this has been quite a long summer for Moyes and an away defeat to Liverpool certainly doesn't help him.
