Our biggest rivalry

Featured Replies

So who do you consider to be our biggest rivals or who do you think our biggest rivalry is with? Also who do you dislike the most? This can be done on many aspects but for me a rivalry is a big one where there is full on hatred between both sets of supporters in a fiery atmosphere.

There are many teams we have rivalries with and it's quite tough to choose!

Spurs

Leeds

West Ham

Liverpool

Arsenal

Millwall

Man Utd

QPR

Fulham

Cardiff

Leicester

Barcelona

For me I think our biggest rivalries are with Spurs and Liverpool. Then probably West Ham and Arsenal. But a special mention to our rivalry with Leeds which is my favourite. It depends on what you really look for in a rivalry but this one takes it for me. If you've been at Leeds v Chelsea games before then you'll know... The hatred between both sides is massive. The cup game up there was superb. An electric atmosphere but a hate fuelled one at that and that's what does it for me... It's weird though because although I hate them with a passion, I want them promoted! Simply because an away trip to Leeds is better than one to Sunderland and Hull for example... Plus the rivalry between the clubs is a special one and one of the most fierce in England.

I think most people would agree it's Spurs.

Then after that it's more of a generational thing, younger fans will say teams like Man U, and Barcelona, and older fans will say Leeds and Millwall.

Younger fans maybe more on the pitch based, whilst older fans off the pitch.

Yeah I agree with your choices Bucks Blue. Mine are Spurs, west ham and Leeds. I sadly missed the recent Leeds away game in the cup but had a couple of mates go up and said our turn out was first class. My first game against Leeds was the infamous 5-0 promotion party win and all the fun on the underground that came with it. Spurs and West ham are just pond life and so full of sh*t its not just the locality of 'em I think I would hate them anyway. Been done at West ham once but never Spurs although in recent times they are the ones who have tried to attack me and my mates outside the ground on the high road but always try it when police are about???? its funny in years past I used to hate Cambridge, Watford and Forest because they were the biggest fights I'd been involved in but I suppose as we don't play them anymore you tend to laugh about it now.

I agree with Tallchris I think younger fans hate the Arsenal, Liverpool, moan etc but that's for football reasons my hatred was more about the fans then the team. Having said that I have a new found hatred for QPhaha, there fans are just deluded with a tinpot ground.

i enjoyed the qpr stint in the prem just for the renewal of that rivalry. shame we came off second best on a couple of occassions! for me, its Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham domestically, and barcelona are definitely our biggest european rivals

Funnily enough I was just looking through the 'who do you hate the most' thread and was gonna create something similar to this!

Rivals:

Leeds

Spuds

Arsenal

QPR

In Europe Barcelona for sure.

Actually don't mind Arsenal, in comparison to the rest, that much tbh. I don't like them since their fans do my head in however I like + respect Wenger.

The club I dislike the most is Liverpool -- I dislike a few other clubs but this one is far above the rest. Firstly, they did themselves no favours with the Suarez saga and their really desperate attempts to defend him were pretty good examples of how stupid the majority of their football fans are. I hate the way their players constantly refer to the club as 'Liverpool Football Club' in every post match interview as if they deserve some sort of special respect, the self-righteous pricks. And then theirs the way the media refer to these "special European nights at Anfield" when after the teams have walked out it's as quiet as any other game, is embarrassing. their constant 'signing off' of everything with JFT96 and YNWA does my head in too, the players referring to the team as "Liverpool Football Club" (if I didn't mention that already) in every single interview (I'm sure they're briefed on it by the club when they sign), the way they were desperately trying to look for any excuse to defend Suarez after he racially abused Evra. The fact they killed 39 Juventus fans by pushing a wall on top of them yet try to sweep it under the carpet while babbling on about Hillsborough and 'justice' any chance they get.

And their sheer refusal to accept any of the blame for Hillsborough.

They think they are the best fans in the world and that they deserve some sort of special respect, when they don't.

Not to mention the dealings like selling us Torres for 50m, selling Sturridge to them and the recent fixture where we should have won had there not been 8 minutes of extra time -- yet they still have the nerve to say we didn't deserve to win and that WBA should've got retrospective action for us taking points away from them. ****

And, their delusion levels are far above any other club. Sure there are more things I could list as well but these are more recent examples.

Lovely rant. If was going to rant about Liverpool that's pretty much the same way o feel. Anfield just before kick off is the biggest karaoke club in England. Chelsea fans used to sing ynwa so did other clubs but what liverpool done is robbed it by putting on the crest and gates. Dirty thieving rat munchers. All nicey nice when things are going their way but proper nasty bar stewards when anything goes against them. Bitter fans

Yeah must agree with the Hillsboro denial that really pisses me off, justice is one thing but its money they want. As for those special European nights I remember the last time we played them that when they started singing the Celtic song we were outsinging them so sky turned us down and them up, funny as f**k! And there was me saying only the young fans hated Liverpool, lol!

I'm 20 so a younger fan but our rivalry with Leeds seems really proper. I've done all the research into it and what i'd given to have been at that 1970 cup final... Would have been a great watch. I don't really care to much for Barca. They are our greatest European rival due to them being cheating scumbags but I prefer our rivalries in England to that

I was at the game last season at Elland Road. We had a superb turnout and was the best away i've ever done mainly due to the amount of old school Chels that came out for it. No replicas or tourists either. It was proper Chelsea. Just a shame we couldn't have the 5000 allocation!

Liverpool are a vile club in so many ways and that rant pretty much sums it up. They're just pure scum. Had some scousers in the club wembley at the final in 2012 spitting on us in the lower tier. Just pure vermin. And the fact that nothing is their fault is another reason to hate them! JFT39

Liverpool definitely. Cannot stand the club - self righteous, arrogant and deluded.

Outside of that - mainly the London clubs.

I'll have to go with Liverpool, for the reasons listed above and the amount of CL battles we have contested with them.

I remember when we last played Liverpool at Anfield, I was sat in O'Neill's, Reading with two Liverpool supporting friends. When ratbag Suarez got the last minute equaliser when he should of been sent off the whole pub erupted with cheers of joy. That has intensified my dislike of the club further.

EDIT: Is it worth putting a poll on this thread?

I was in the away end and hadn't a scooby as to what had happened. Found out when the cabbie mentioned it and started laughing... Bunch of cretins.

And I've only recently started to use this site more often so no idea how to do a poll!

Wasnt it the Village People ???

Plenty of village people in the kop I reckon. I'd have no time for paddy mulligan when he said on Irish tv he hopes lfc beats us back on the CL semi final in 2005 what a w**ker. Look at all the Scouse in the media. Like rats everywhere.

We have had this same question a few times but its most probably got lost in forum traffic, and seeing its about our most hated it never hurts to revive the question every now and then.

Spurs : A perfect 10 out of 10 for hate between our fans, not quite sure if its as embedded with the players like it is with other clubs but our fans seem to hate them with a passion.

Leeds : One for the older crowd until we get them in the cup and that hatred gets revived.

West Ham : Seems to have taken second spot to the y*ds in recent years and their number one rivals will always be Millwall, and we dont do seco0nd place for anything.

Liverpool : No one even cares about the team we send our rejects to.

Arsenal : Personal hate of mine because as a kid everyone around me seemed to be a gooner, and that night that Thomas scored THAT goal at Anfield really drove home the pain of Chelsea never winning anything.

Millwall : My local team as a kid and i also trained with them on weds nights when i was at school so as much as i think i should hate them i dont.

Man Utd : Was never an issue when i was younger and i enjoyed watching them push Le Arse and the Dippers off their purches.

QPR : Who-P-R

Fulham Same as above.

Cardiff : Scummers who actually thought they could come to the Bridge and take the piss, Failed though. Most prob my most recent hate.

Leicester : We all follow the Chelsea over land and sea and Leicester, just about sums it up really.

Barcelona : The poor mans Chelsea.

My own personal ones that arent on the list are Palace, Boro and Citteh.

Maybe if millwall got into the prem then they would take over the 2nd spot. Undoubtedly it's spurs for me. Also arse maybe their geographical derby but all the hardcore spurs fans I know see us as more of a hated team.

I can't respond to this thread as not a CFC fan but the Liverpool thing I agree 100% with, particularly Hillsborough. Although the Police buggered up the handling of the event, you hear no one these days who'll accept that fans bundled forward and that some did it to get in without paying. That did happen (rushing the gates/turnstiles). Plus their fans single-handedly getting English teams banned from Europe after causing 39 deaths and 600 (yep 600 - you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a battle) injuries at Heysel. 14 Liverpool fans were convicted for manslaughter afterwards.

Classless club.

Not going to comment on the other stuff. I agree with a lot of it, for sure.

However, the Hillsborough comment was below the belt. I am a born and bred scouser. Sure, I support Chelsea as my uncle from Essex got me into them, and I have no regrets, but my parents and most of my family in Liverpool are Liverpool supporters, and Hillsborough is something that is very sore where the fans are concerned. Which I can understand. T

The fans WERE blameless for Hillsborough, something which has actually been proven recently.  Let's be honest, it happened to Liverpool fans, but it could just as easily have been fans of any club going to that game. If it had been Chelsea fans, would you have thought the fans were to blame in those circumstances? I am sure you wouldn't.

My dislike for football clubs runs to the football. Not human life.
