Derby County vs Chelsea (FA Cup) 5/1/14 KO: 14:15 GMT

Featured Replies

FA Cup draw vs Derby. Good chance to rest some players but we should field a strong enough outfit to win and progress.

Thoughts?

Kalas - Cahill - Luiz - Bertrand (No idea on his fitness?)

            Essien - Mikel

     Schurrle - Mata - KDB

                    Eto'o

We should be able to beat them with any team we send out in truth.

I dont think Jose will be looking at this game as a give me. Since Steve " the dutchman " McClaren took over at Derby they have had a very succesful run in their league " apart from yesterday '. We are on back 2 back league wins and we should be looking to go to their car park, i mean stadium and smash them off the park. The FA Cup is a trophy that means an awful lot to us as a club. I think we should be making sure that we get our day in the sun come May.

Kalas - Ivanovich - Cahill - Cole

                  Essien - Luiz

             Schurrle - Mata -  KDB

                      Torres

A chance for Luiz in midfield again. A chance to use Mata in the middle and Torres absolutely has to play. He normally excels against this quality of opposition.

Ivan, along with Lampard, has been ruled out until the end of the month.

Aahh. Have to reconsider the other centre-back spot then. I don't really want to see Luiz in our back four again.

Don't think Jose does either.

Would like to see Kalas get a run out at CB.

I wan't us to progress here. FA Cup is good cup for our team in transition. It keeps the team in a good drive if we crash out from CL and fall behind in the league.

Azpi    Kalas    Cahill   Bertrand

                  Essien  Luiz

             Willian  Mata  Oscar

A game like this with 2 grafters alongside him should allow Mata opportunity to show what he can do. And with Luiz driving from DM there's plenty talent there to win this comfortably.  Depending how it's going by HT Schurrle/De Bruyne maybe on to get the opportunity to build some confidence

Alternatively, to give Azpi a rest cos he seemed to get a couple of twinges yesterday, Essien to RB, Oscar to DM, and Schurrle/De Brunyne taking Oscar's spot

I wont lose any sleep if we are to go out early.

We are in a good position to win the title, and we have a good chance of progressing past the first knockout stage in the CL. Those 2 are the priorities, and the injuries and suspensions have started racking up

Not sure we are in transition we havnt hit all cylinders but id hardly class us as being in transition.

I do however understand your point about having something to fall on if the CL and league go amiss but frankly i would not be satisfied even if we did lift the cup. The CL could be a step too far this season but i still think we should be at least fighting in the semi final. The league is anyones guess based on the first half of the season. I think that we are in as good a shape if not better than everyone. City might be mighty at home but they are not the same on the road.

As for the cup game

Schwarzer

Cole - Bertrand if he is fit

Luiz

Cahill

Kalas

Ramires

Essien

Schurrle

Mata

KDB

Torres (he did well against Southampton want to keep that run going by keeping him playing)

^ I have the same view as Forever Carefree. Plus we only have to win it a couple more times and the FA will have to rename it the Challenge Chelsea Cup!

You got great record in this having won it 2000, 2007,2009,2010,2012. But its up to jose to decide whether he has same intrest in winning it this year or not.

Is Omeruo still injured or what? He should be playing CB, he's quality.

I'll be very surprised if KDB is still here when this game comes around, that'll just be a waste of everybody's time.

Do you just mean since the millennium?

I cant understand how anyone would be ok with us being knocked out of any cup, I want us to compete for every trophy we are in and we should be looking to do that. Gutted when we lose any game, even more gutted when we go out of a competition.

Yes. i know you won fa cup before that in 1997, 1970 and years before that. Just meant you had good record in it since then.

Yeah we have a great record. It's a throphy I personally love. Love the 3rd round games

Is that Kenneth Omeruo or Oriel Romeu?  I thought Romeu an excellent player but I think he got injured and he's on loan now.  So is Omeruo I think.

Another player I liked was Nathan Ake. Dunno what's happened to him.
