December 3, 201411 yr Its a good job that some fans on here dont run our football club! Because our club has been so well run the last decade? I agree though, if some here got their way we would have sold everyone twice by now
December 3, 201411 yr Don't think he'll ever be good enough, reminds me of swp. Loan him for 6-18 months and hope we recoup some of the money. Not a good signing, but we can't always get it right. I don't think he's any better than Moses. I don't think he needs replacing in the squad either, ramires can play out wide and we've got a few youth players that would benefit from the very limited opportunities he has had. Having a 23yr old full international sitting in the stands week in, week out, will only be detrimental to the players development, and his price tag will plummet.
December 4, 201411 yr Let's see what he could do in the CL dead rubber and CC match, doubt he will get a cameo this weekend unless we are 3 up. We don't have a big squad, so my guess is he will stay until the end of the season. Not sure about Moses comparison, I believe we bought him because he's a home grown player, not because of his ability.
December 4, 201411 yr Hindsight is 20/20. assessing the quality of any signing is hindsight, I do think he hasn't really been given a fair enough run in the team however it seems unlikely that we'll be able to go through the entire season without at least one of Hazard/Oscar/Willian being injured for a few weeks, so who knows maybe then he can try and pick up some form. But every time i've seen him he's been wasteful, even in his first appearance when he played extremely well but missed two 1on1's with the keeper.

You're correct that Moses was brought in primarily because he is home grown but it also says a lot that ontop of that, his ability is still superior to Salah's
December 4, 201411 yr He can play in the attacking 3 though. Willian, Hazard, Shurrle and Oscar can all and have all played wide. We could mix it up a bit if giving him a chance. Rather we gave Boga or Musonda a chance in those positions.
December 4, 201411 yr You're correct that Moses was brought in primarily because he is home grown but it also says a lot that ontop of that, his ability is still superior to Salah's I guess we will never get a definite answer on who's better between those 2.. As much as I remembered, Moses was only good in those Europa league matches, even Torres was good in them. I'm still angry the fat waiter started Moses ahead of Oscar in the Club Champoonship final, pretty much a deliberate act to make us lose. Moses is home grown, otherwise he has nothing over Salas in my opinion.
December 11, 201411 yr Feels a bit of a backhanded compliment to say that last night was one of his better performances.
December 11, 201411 yr I thought that he was very good yesterday, he made good runs, he made good decisions, his balls in to the box were accurate, he was good in the box, he showed great pace, he looked hungry, as did Schürlle. I'm probably in the minority, he's never going to start instead of Hazard in important games, but he deserves some minutes against Hull, and I would happily put him on the bench from now on.
December 11, 201411 yr Started well but faded after about 20 mins. Very difficult to judge him though as he can hardly be match fit, having barely playing this season. He must not look too good in training or he would be involved more.
December 17, 201411 yr Hello Everyone! So I registered on the forums a few months ago, mainly to follow Salah's news. Just like most of the Egyptians, we were all so excited when Chelsea signed him, as it is the first time in our history that an Egyptian player plays for one of the world's top teams. Before the transfer was completed, Liverpool was trying to sign him as well, and at that time most of us thought it is better for him to go to Liverpool, as his spot on the pitch was almost guaranteed there, while we knew it would be tough to make it to the starting XI in Chelsea because of the high competition in his position. Then it happened and he signed for Chelsea and as we see, he is having tough times since then. I am personally not sure what the problem is, perhaps Chelsea is too good for him, perhaps he is that kind of player that only performs well when he is the team star just like he was at Basel, or maybe things are just not working for him at Chelsea, which is something that could happen in general. The disappointing thing now for me, and for many other Egyptians, is that he is not getting a chance..I mean even in the Capital one games, like yesterday, he didn't even play a few minutes, which I think could have such a negative effect on his mentality. Ok, let's say he got his chance already several times and didn't prove his worth, why isn't Mourinho letting him go even on loan?! he stated a few days ago that "Salah is our player, we like him and we trust him, he is not going anywhere" and then he doesn't even give him the chance to play a few minutes in a Capital one game! that is disppointing and totally not understandable honestly...I would appreciate it if you can share your opinion, maybe I am missing something! :) Edited December 17, 201411 yr by generous
December 17, 201411 yr I thought Salah was pretty damn good last season, can anybody remember his game against Stoke and stuff? He looked confident, part of the team, he worked his socks off to get his goal after being unlucky a few times, then skinned some players during his minutes he was on the pitch. This season he is a shadow of that, he doesn't look confident in any way shape or form, wouldn't be surprised if he's gone next month honestly.
December 18, 201411 yr Surprised he didn't get a game yesterday, the Zouma injury probably killed off his chance to have a cameo. If he goes on loan, his Chelsea career is over
December 18, 201411 yr If anyone is leaving in January it's Salah. He's not progressed or improved in the year he has been here and his performances have largely been disappointing. If he does go I assume it will be on loan and if that happens I see no way back for him.

We all know then the odd game here or there would mean that a player can try a bit to hard. I think he has all the tools to be an excellent player for us. But Jose clearly disagree's to some degree

We all know then the odd game here or there would mean that a player can try a bit to hard. I think he has all the tools to be an excellent player for us. But Jose clearly disagree's to some degree Even with limited opportunities he isn't showing anything to suggest he is worthy of getting anywhere near to the first team, his shooting, crossing and passing in the final third are for the most part pretty horrific. You get lads like Ake come into the side and he plays well almost every time and you're left feeling confident enough that when he plays he's not going to f**k it up. With Salah when you see he's playing you just hope that he's not so useless you might as well be playing with 10 men. Apart from being able to run quite fast I don't really see what Salah offers us.

Wow we really watch a different Salah... I can only think of two games he has played this season, one in the LC and the recent one in the CL. In the league up his shooting was terrible but his build up play was very good and we was constantly worrying defenders plus a nice assist for drogba. In the second game, the CL against lisbon i thought he was very very good, and delivered a number of decent crosses, largely due to playing on the left. He also had a hand in the first goal. He has white line feaver for sure, but nothing I have seen suggests he's a lost cause. Am i missing a game some where? also last season i fealt he did well and should he not benefit from the same dispensation we give most players in terms of time to settle in etc

His assist was just cushioning the ball down, wasn't anything to really write home about and certainly didn't gloss over the fact that the ball boys probably had to be paid overtime to retrieve all of the balls he smacked into the car park. Lisbon match he was better but did nothing of note, if anything I thought his crosses were over hit and he was one of worst performers in the starting line up. He also played the home league cup match against Bolton and it was more of the same in terms of running down blind alleys and not much else. The majority of his playing time is coming against "lesser" opposition and even then he is still looking the worst player on the pitch.

But I think i give him a lot more credit all things considered.
December 18, 201411 yr I don't find a sense to discuss this player. It's very simple. This player isn't good enough to play for Chelsea. The only one reason to keep him in the team is PR. Nothing more. Don't forget how big and important commerce is Egypt and Arabian world.
December 18, 201411 yr That was my point, if he is not good enough then the club should just let him go (for me I do care about the player's career, and right now it is definitely not the best situation for him) As I said, Mourinho said last week after Lisbon game that Salah is not going anywhere, which is disappointing and not understandable. And by the way, the PR thing could be right when it comes to Arab countries, but not Egypt, not at all.

Sure this has been mentioned before but I'd much rather have Moses as a squad player than Salah -- esp. since Moses will count as homegrown.
