Was watching CL team getting the trophy last night and thought actually this is a better squad in the making

Front row trying to get on the tele was bosingwa, kalou, malouda, mireles...... And I think this group dave, Eden, Oscar and willian are better

Having said they have not won anything yet but what potential

Once the 'pony' has grown properly into a thoroughbred who knows what's possible

Yes, on paper the team we have now is better than the Champions League winning team...but remember there is a reason why the 2012 team won the CL that season. Not the most talented team in Europe or even England but when you asked it to dig deep and show a lot of spirit, it could beat any team.

If a back four of Ramires, Bosingwa, Ivanović and Cole could shackle the likes of Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and Sanchez, why couldn't the defence that stopped Bayern do similar against the likes of Hazard, Oscar and Willian?

There may never be another Chelsea team capable of putting in performances like we saw in the CL that season. That's why I think if you put a Chelsea 11-12 team on the same pitch as a Chelsea13-14 side, the 11-12 boys would go someway in holding their nerve.

Agree with you about the future. Who couldn't be excited?

Its a no contest in terms of quality.Hazard on his own is better than Malouda and Kalou put together and dont get me started on Azpi against Bosingwa.

The question is whether the addition of didier and mata makes up for the others.

Id venture to say the team we made the final with in 2008 was much better than either.

We played a lot more expansive football in 2010, but the 04-05 team was just so ruthlessly efficient - I'd give them the nod.

Especially considering Inter (under José) slaughtered us in the Champions League that year

The 2012 team is probably our weakest since Roman took over the club while the current would rank fairly high up.

I always said our team will be at its weakest under Roman when we win the Champions League and in many ways it was. It was just our time, circumstances went the right way for us and we looked more up for Europe.
