ForeverCarefree Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 With the season getting closer to its conclusion I assume the club will soon be thinking about whether to offer Terry, Lampard and Cole new contracts as they are all currently due to be out of contract come the end of June. Do fellow Shed Enders think any of them deserve new deals and which do you think will actually be offered new contracts? Personally I think Terry and Lampard will be given 12 month extensions but I can see Cole being allowed to leave at the end of the season.
SHELLY Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I concur Ash seems to have fallen right out of favour...
chelseablueboy Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 It does look like Jose doesn't fancy Ash any more, so i think he will be allowed to leave.I do think (hope) Both JT and Lamps get one year extensions as they give more to the club than just playing time imo.
Guest RFC_CFC Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Probably only John really. Lamps is this season is showing it's maybe time to take a step back but may stay if Jose pushed for it. Cole I think is a certainty to go, losing your place to a young right back tells it's own story.

Backbiter Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I concur Ash seems to have fallen right out of favour... Has he? Or has Azpi come in and done such a good job it would be insane to drop him?
Guest RFC_CFC Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Has he? Or has Azpi come in and done such a good job it would be insane to drop him? Bit of both really. It's clear Azpi is Joses number 1 choice at left back and Cole at his stage in his career needs to be playing football. He won't be short of options I'm sure and it will be sad to see him go after all the sucess we have had with him.
Englishman Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Surely it's a given that JT gets a new deal. Still our best centre half and we clearly miss him when he's not playing. Lampard has had his moments this season, and it's good to have an experienced head to call upon. I'd be happy for to stay provided he's happy with his reduced role. As for Cole, he looked out of sorts earlier in the season and since then has mostly been kept out of the team by a right-back. It has to be said we haven't missed him. And with the Shaw links as well, perhaps it is time to move on.
jack_super_class Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I would only give JT a new contract , sadly i think its time for Cole and Lampard to go. I think the club will give all 3 a new deal but i think Cole will turn it down because he wont want to stay on the bench for most of the season again.

Out of interest why do you feel it is time for Lampard to move on? He's had 15 starts in the league so far this season and a further 6 sub appearance and I think he has started nearly all of our Champions League games as well. I know he isn't exactly a spring chicken anymore but he is clearly still clearly fitness enough to play his fair share of games.. Personally I think he is worth enough 12 month deal, if nothing else to ensure there is some experience and leadership in the squad.

Because i don't feel his performances particularly deserve it , same reason im happy for Cole to go too. We also play 4231 alot more than we play 433 and Lampard isn't as effective in my opinion in a 2 man midfield than he is in a 3. I like the partnership of Matic and Luiz (like to see It tried more) then we also have Ramires who is in front of him. Also we have Van Ginkel back from injury and hopefully having a good pre season and with players like Chalobah to come back we need to start giving these guys a chance.
Kage Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Our defense isn't the same without JT. He's the only definite yes for me right now.
zurman Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I think JT and Lamps will get new contract but not Cole, even if he's offered. If it was up to me those three should get extension until they decide to retire.
bluedrake55 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 JT is a given. lamps will probably go because of the amount of midfielders we have. cole is basically gone because with shaw's star rising i see him at the bridge.
londonblue Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 JT and Lamps with both stay on - whether in a playing or coaching capacity. Im 99% sure Ash will leave at the end of the season and my guess would be he will be going to the MLS where the Sun and the Daily Mail can no longer assassinate his character

kevin o'kane Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Hmm, strange, Cole is plenty good for another couple of years.another strange call by José.ash is still one of the best left backs in the league,so what do we do?,play a right back at left back, play a natural centre back at right back and loan Coles understudy, who did very well in the champion's league to villa?
felipeluis_4 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 JT definitely, lampard i would keep him for another year, but i would still buy a midfielder, and ashley no... his time has come to an end

We've got the best defense in the league. So Jose obviously has it figured out even if it is 'strange'
icecoolguy22 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I think it's time for Cole to move on, unless he's really keen to sit out his career with us. He's not going to get any more games next year, sign Luke Shaw or not. Lampard, it's up to the man to decide his future. But I remember Jose said earlier this would be the last year working with Lampard
kevin o'kane Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 We've got the best defense in the league. So Jose obviously has it figured out even if it is 'strange' Let's hope he 'figures' it out at the other end of the pitch.shurrle was playing very well before he was benched and if memory serves me right, scored a hat trick for Germany before José thought it was time to give him a 'rest'.
