Diego Costa to Chelsea

Ill dust of the ol Robinho shirt I have lying around and join the party woot woot

I'm betting the media confirmed that one too! Who knew !!!

But Liam's right, it's in the media....if we can't trust them, then who can we trust?  sh*t, they sometimes lie don't they?  They even sometimes do it deliberately to get hits/sell newspapers etc.

I feel sorry for Liam, until just now I also believed that anything in the media must be the truth - because it should be.  Liam and I can take from this that we have to wait until it's officially announced before really believing that it's true.

Come on Liam let's have a hug, we can be strong for each other.

I still have doubts over his technical ability... Most of the goals he scores are very simple unlike Aguero or Suarez and mind that Chelsea doesn't create that many simple chances for our strikers to score.

I wouldn't want him in the Chelsea side if he costs 50million pounds... and I think that report is bollocks he's buyout clause is 32million pounds then why are we paying ATM 50? Plus I think we should get him for cheaper because of loaning Curtois out again to ATM.

But still if we are going to spend 50million we should try for Cavani or any other proven striker like Aguero..

I don't understand why we would be paying €60 million for Costa when he supposedly has a €32 million release clause?

Pinched this explanation from elsewhere:

Chelsea can give Diego Costa the 32 million pounds to buy out his contract should they so choose, but then Costa has to report it at income, and would owe 44% of that 32 million to the Spanish government. Obviously, Chelsea would have to pay Costa enough to meet the buyout and pay his taxes, unless they want to try the Messi/Neymar tax evasion approach that Barcelona favors.

I remember talking to Liam in the match chat once and remember him saying that he was only 14-years-old, so I'll give him a bit of leeway for his over-enthusiasm.

However, Liam, once you grow older you'll realise that the media and politicians lie to you every day and Santa isn't real. Welcome to the real world.

With Diego Costa destined for Chelsea, Atletico Madrid is interested in Icardi & Cerci gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciomerca…

They have control of La Liga after making it to the Champions League semifinal, and now they are looking to improve the team for next season in Italy. Atletico Madrid is an example to follow. On the bench they have Simeone, who gave a style and mentality to his players. Off the pitch sporting director Caminero (a legend with the club’s fans) works very well with an Italian: Andrea Berta, who impressed at Parma before going to Genoa. Berta also has a special relationship with Jorge Mendes, Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent.

Berta is already focused on next season’s team, yesterday he sent a scout to watch Torino-Genoa: they were mainly there for Cerci, who scored a great goal and is a player who offers guarantees. Next summer, Simeone’s club will have to replace Diego Costa, who is destined for Chelsea, and they are monitoring Serie A.

Torino and Inter. Cerci but also Icardi. I had already mentioned this: there is a corporation who wants to buy Inter’s Argentine striker and they continue to work secretly. Inter is looking to Real Madrid’s Morata, despite fact Real Madrid doesn’t really want to lose him since he scores in almost every match he plays in. There are big moves planned between Spain and Italy.

Even still I think 50 million is a lot when we maybe loaning coutois back to them again next season.

I think we will sign him but the papers are just making prices up right now.

Wait what? No Santa? Where the f**k do all my gifts come from then?

I'm not sure Costa is the answer to our problems.   From the little I have seen of him his first touch is not brilliant, he's not technically gifted and has only had one good season, although a pretty good one.  I agree with a previous post about us needing someone who can create goals on their own and score goals from positions that normal players can't, like Aguero (Why oh why did we choose Torres over him) and Suarez.  The problem is theres no sign of the next Aguero/Suarez and we'd never risk going for an unknown potential star especially with he current striker situation.

I do worry about our track record when it comes to strikers we've not bought a good one since Drogba and I'm starting to think that was lucky too.  Can we trust our scouts with this or are we just blowing 50m on Costa because he's a big name and theres no one else.  On the plus side if we do sign him he is still only 25 and Drogba had problems with the technical part of his game including his touch when he first arrived and look how that turned out!

I still have doubts over his technical ability... Most of the goals he scores are very simple unlike Aguero or Suarez and mind that Chelsea doesn't create that many simple chances for our strikers to score.

And what makes you think City will sell Aguero to us for 50M? PSG bought Cavani last year for 63ME. So getting him for 50ME is out of question after just one year. So, it brings us back to Costa.

I think we need to change our attacking play to where we create many simple chances for our striker to score, rather then try finding a new Drogba, or put all our hopes on one player. Costa would be a good start, but not for £50mil though. I think we need to spend a good ammount for a great LB as well, who has pace/stamina to give us width and options in attack. This would also allow us to move Azpilicueta to RB, wich is his prefered position and where he has managed to get one assist in each of his last two games.  Another area that needs some more creativity is central midfield, atleast with all the teams that likes to "park the bus". Luiz, Matic and Ramires are all good workers off the ball, but they struggle to find good solutions when there is little space. A player like Modric/Gundogan would do wonders I think with speeding up our attacking play and providing us with more options going forward. This would most likely mean we would have to sell either Luiz or Ramires, who I feel won't be a big loss.
