Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

No, not a handball. It was a non-existent nudge in an aerial challenge that was picked up by a linesman who was an ex-Liverpool youth player.

Well it's just made me realize how happy I am right now that them c**ts didn't win the league, it was awful after the Sunderland game, both us and City lost I believe and it seemed impossible Liverpool wouldn't win it.

Until we arrived.

It was a handball by Matic wasn't it? he had his arms down by his side I think or something like that but it touched the ball, I can't really remember exactly though.

Nope, it was disallowed for a nudge on the defender, whcih didnt happen. But then a massive shove on Ramiries as he was trying to score was ok. How very peculiar.

Do you expect me to say Aguero's was an accident and no punishment was appropriate?  Of course he should have been banned for that.

And I get the frustration at the inconsistencies, not that it's all one way traffic since we've been on the brunt of some howlers as well.

But regards the "he wasn't looking so he's innocent" defence... watch the video FFS.  He knows exactly where Can's leg is and he knows exactly what he's doing.

Does it help us? Yes.  Is it annoying for you that he's got a ban, sure, I get that.  Should he have been banned?  Yes, I'm afraid he should.  You can't go letting people off because there's been other fouls that went unpunished.

Can I just ask, what decisions have you been on the end of? Like poor ones I mean.

The Balotelli on Scott Parker was a definite suspension and I've seen Aguero get let off twice now, he stamped on someones fingers earlier in the season.

Also what about the Yaya Toure slapping and kicking Mata a few years ago? How on earth did he get away with that.

The only reason why I didnt pull all my hair out at not winning the title is purely because we are the sole reason they didnt win it.  How LFC was being treated that season, I probably would of had Spurs/QPR take the title over them.  Nauseating how many calls they were getting and how little they were conceedign especially considering Skirtwearer probably committed more fouls in his own box than anyone else that season yet not a single one called.  I will take that Schadenfreude all day long.

He stamped on Nolan this year and Yaya on Wolfswinkle, no bans.  Not to mention when Mata got a nice slap to the face and kick to back (when on the ground) from Yaya when Mata was still with us.  Edit:  you did mention it, but why not again? :)

No but it would help if the FA was actually um...consistent in their decision making processes.

Much of the resentment on here is exactly because the FA seem unable to adhere to a decision-making process. It's not so much whether Costa's challenge was enough to deserve a lengthy ban which is the sore point here (although from what I've seen it's somewhat debatable) but the FA's inability to 1) review all questionable incidents from every game rather than just that highlighted by sensationalist media of questionable integrity, 2) properly determine what length of ban should be appropriate based on precedent, i.e, bans handed out in the past for similar incidents and 3) apply said precedent.

Instead, we have a situation where some players completely get off and others are handed lengthy bans for similar offences. The process is absurd and has fans quite rightly questioning the FA's integrity and objectivity.

It saved football entirely, that was there only chance of winning the league for a very long time mark my words, they will see how important that chance was when they realize they haven't won the title in 30 or so years.

City fan here.  Honestly lads, I think Costa knew exactly what he was doing and deserved the ban.  If I thought otherwise, genuinely I would say so.  The fact that he wasn't looking, actually makes it more damning because had he genuinely wanted to avoid Can, he would have been looking!

That's how I see it, many will doubtless disagree.  And I understand the dreadful inconsistency of it all, having been on the receiving end of that plenty ourselves.

On to the game, should be interesting.  We are playing utter sh*te at the moment, and you don't need to win.  So I think it may be a case of the Pitiful Force meets the Immovable Object and a boring 0-0.  Either that or we'll get reamed.  Hopefully the former.

Welcome. I've watched the incidents over and over including the penalty shout. One was a maybe, maybe not, the other was a no. The incident against Costa did warrant a penalty. I'm not one to blindly agree just because it's the team, but on this occasion I am incensed on two counts, the injustice and the inconsistency.

Let's hope the match tomorrow is as entertaining as our last one. Cheers.

Getting of the agenda subject I think people are missing the big thing to come out of this. Somehow jose has to calm down costa even more than he already has. We all love having him lead our line and the passion he puts into it so we clearly don't want to take any of that away but the lad is going to end up missing at least 6-7 games a season through some of the stuff he does. And in those 6 or 7 games one of them at least is bound to be a potential season deciding one like tomorrow.

Jose is in a tricky position because deep down he knows costa did it on purpose but if costa comes into the changing room at full time and denies everything what does jose do? If he disagrees he risks losing the backing of costa and if he agrees then costa will probably continue with this kind of thing knowing his boss will always back him.

As much as we should point fingers at Sky, we should be blaming Costa more than anything, his actions have cost him to sit out of 3 very important games. City home, Villa away, Everton home.

I hope Jose does bring incidents up to the F.A. to tell them of the inconsistency, unfortunately the way the set up is you have to spit back, football is a dirty game, especially behind the scenes.

But I wouldn't get too caught up with what you last said, I think the players know Mourinho is a different guy in the press and a lot of the stuff he doesn't mean. He will calm Costa down but Costa will always be Costa we know that. It's part of the man he is, he is a fighter, very passionate, it's pros and cons, you take that side out of him you will take some goals out of him also.

Im holding out for hope that this ban not only rests Costa, but fires him up to a new level for the rest of the season. Come on blessing in disguise!!!!!

Costa has calmed down, being at Chelsea is obviously a good influence for him. Some judge him on the past and provoke him, runts try to take on the big guy.

All part of the game. If you show a weakness in the past people will try and exploit it. They would soon stop if he went a  couple of seasons without any of this sh*t

Thanks for the welcome.  I certainly didn't come to cause upset by the way, I come in peace -)

Can't wait for the game tomorrow.  Biggest game of the season by miles and Costa or no Costa you have to be strong favourites.  We are garbage at the moment and you are at home, so by all logic it will be a comfortable Chelsea win.  But this is football and as both sides know from last Saturday, in football anything can happen.  As I say, can't wait.

Yes, a lot of the poop is media driven of course.

Next season will be interesting.  Costa arrived here with a reputation of being a tough guy in Spanish football and physical defenders like Skrtel have tried to push him around just to see where his limits are.  To be fair to the guy, he's not yet had a red card or got involved in a serious scuffle with anyone. I think he has been remarkably controlled at times. So he is aggressive? So what? He has shown every opponent that he is not going to be physically intimidated, he has shown he can mix it with the best. Next season, defenders will have to find some other way of dealing with him or he will just go on scoring with ease.

Must say, watching some clips of Cuadrado and particularly the quality of his crossing - really whipped in accurate crosses from the right - I just can't wait to see him and Costa in our line-up

To be fair to the City fan here, they had a howler of a call go against them this season. Aguero got a yellow card for diving when he clearly should have been given a penalty. The refs have really made a lot of blunders this season and not just against us.

Indeed. As recent as the Middlesborough game last week we had two penalty claims, one could have gone either way and the other was pretty blatant.  That was at 0-0, so who knows how the game would have panned out.  The standard of officiating is utter garbage most of the time.  Clattenburg, for all his faults, at least isn't a bottler though.  He's be reaching for cards of all colours with abandon tomorrow I suspect.
