Following Our Nearest and Dearest Rivals, 2014-15

haven't seen enough of Spurs to form any opinion but I'll watch the game tomorrow - hope you get a decent result

Cheers Carrickblue. I'm glad CFC are doing well (touch wood and all that).

We need a result badly to steady the ship.

Another gem from RAWK - this stuff is priceless...

"That's not our only problem though. If you have seen the number of long balls in this game and compared to the midweek game you get what's going wrong. Kick and rush from our first team all over the place. With Gerrard in the team, nothing will change."

My answer is honestly that I don't know. We have been poor in defence this season and, at the other end, not taking all of the chances we create.

However, if we're bad at present (and we are with only one win in the last seven league games. Seven!) Villa are much worse.

Kane should start tomorrow. If we lose to Villa, then I think it's officially panic stations for us.

We should not lose though.

I put you 4th spot in my prediction before the season started, still not changing my mind but United seems to have the firepower to over take and I'm just not that sure right now if Spurs can sort it out in time, they might need another season, I say 2 at most before they can be a true top 4 competitors.

But saying that, you can't lose your players either, Vertonghen wants to be off already, but I think your attack is really really good. 4 years ago you had a fantastic side, world class players in key areas but you had a lot of average players as well, that's what let you down really. However now you have all kinds of potential from all sides, much more interesting, but your defence is really average, it's like a mid table side and that's no joke, that back 4 needs changing. Also a striker would really help and I think you're good to go, however that's putting in a lot of trust that Capoue will improve, which I think he can. Lamela, Eriksen and Chadli are awesome lets be honest here.

it's Saturday night - i'm half-bladdered - give us a break!

Yeah fair enough, but Suarez was pretty much everything to Liverpool last season, they did only play about 5 games without him last season and they didn't exactly win with huge scorelines or anything, scrappy 1-0 wins if I can remember correctly.

Brendan is tactically naive, he blew there first chance to win the league they'll ever get in years, other sides are strengthening and they only went backwards, the players they bought aren't even that good. Markovic and Can can be a bit unfair to judge as they have potential but the others for me just not that good. Moreno might look decent for now but he's nothing special, I fail to see how they are going to even finish top 4 this season, they are struggling against almost every side they play and I have never seen any side make a team look so good like they did with Madrid. Madrid being too good? No it was Liverpool being absolutely sh*te.

No, we have seen it plenty of times where teams pick up really good form, but Southampton will not make top 4, I think they could maybe finish above one of the teams in the top 6 should one of them completely go downhill but besides that they are going to have a dip eventually.

I'm just glad we aren't playing them yet and by the time we do play them they would have actually dropped a few points already.

That's a fair appraisal Slawth. ^

If we can buy one or two experienced defenders in Jan, plus a strong (physically and mentally) midfielder, possibly as a captain, things may improve. It would also help if Pochettino overcame whatever reservations he has and plays Kane; we've an in-form striker and he's not playing. I'd like Lennon to return also to a regular start.

I'm not sure so, I suppose United and Arsenal might end up in the top 4 but I can't see how Southampton go off the rails unless they get a string of injuries.  They're certainly adding an extra interest this year. Apart from us, City and Southampton everyone seems much of a muchness right now, hard to tell how the season will pan out for a number of clubs.

I haven't seen much of Dier, must have won some hearts though in his first 2 games, his debut especially. Vertonghen is a class player but if he wants to move on then it's pointless counting him among the bunch.

One thing though, I do think Spurs are underrated, and that's actually a good thing, if you're off the radar less pressure, great time to rebuild. That's why United have to go out and buy all these super stars because they can't even afford to give it time.

Still far too early Carrick, you can't write teams off just yet except for perhaps Liverpool.

Arsenal will no doubt go on a good run now, they always seem to, wouldn't surprise me if they nearly catch up to us by some point. Well you can call it catching up  but I think they could be about 4-5 points behind us at some point when all the title is coming to north london bollocks comes up again. Liverpool aren't going anywhere this season, Rodgers has clearly f**ked it up, Either Spurs or United 4th place for me and City will be our only title rivals I am sure of it. Arsenal still don't have what it takes but they will definitely get there top 4 trophy no doubt.

So our next league game is at Anfield, huh?

Going to enjoy this one.

Just imagine if we went to Anfield and for the second consecutive season killed Liverpool's season by humiliating them in their own back yard? Real Madrid will have all but finished them off in Europe and the honour to push their flimsy title challenge into an early grave could well fall to us.

I hope so, but I'm worried they'll pull of a shock against us

Well is there any scenario where everyone would be positive? Of course not.

I was on here 2 weeks ago telling everyone that Liverpool will probably surprise Madrid and they where shocking, absolutely terrible, Rodgers is worse than I originally thought he is as stubborn as AVB was. He will come at us like he did last time I am sure of it, I'm sure Madrid will beat them on Tuesday and I would rather be playing them now than playing them at a time when they are beating every f**ker.

I'm confident on this one, just give it a think Bobby, it's a good time to play them, give me a better scenario on the matter where everyone would actually be confident?

Well that's true, I just never think it's gonna be easy, I was right right about Man U for one.

I think you're right Slawth about now being a good time for CFC to face Liverpool but, look at today's game vs QPR: it didn't follow the expected script. A lot of people were expecting CFC to murder QPR. Liverpool are poor but each game stands alone and is unpredictable.

I didn't expect a thrashing todays game, it was always gonna be dirty, QPR give it everything against us.

Well I think it would be a bad result if we didn't beat Liverpool, they will raise there game no doubt about it to be honest. But we should be the ones winning that.

Just watching madrids game today, they are going to take the piss out of Liverpool :)
