November 2, 201411 yr Ouch, anyone else see Van Gaal and Giggs when Smalling was walking towards them having been sent off? Both completely blanked him and did not even acknowledge him. He's in some serious sh*t with the club.
November 2, 201411 yr Ref bottled on making a decision there, probably for the best. The odds are against Utd now but as we all know this is football and anything can happen. It's not unimaginable with the firepower Utd have that they could nick a goal on the counter, or that City get a player sent off.

November 2, 201411 yr Not harsh at all, it's a clear yellow. It's against the rules to try and dispossess the goalkeeper when they are holding the ball. Holding includes the spaces between dropping it from their hands and kicking it, which is the moment Smalling tired to exploit. The ref has been fine, people need to relax with the conspiracy. As I type this City should have got a penalty. I think it's harsh as someone pointed out he wssn't even in the box when Hart tried to kick it, The ref has been fine has he? Blatant yellows went missing for both Clichy and Zabaleta and in City's case he's missed two clear lens. Bad day at the office for the ref in my opinion.

November 2, 201411 yr f**king farcical. FA does not want us getting away with the league. There's no fa conspiracy! Theye were both yellows and the second was pure stupidity from smalling considering he was on a booking. I think city should have had 2 pens and Shaw should have walked as well. Hopefully he evens it up cause I can't see city not going on to win now.
November 2, 201411 yr The ref should have given two penalties to city how can anyone complain he is bias, two clear yellows no way smalling wasn't getting sent off
November 2, 201411 yr It was with the fact he was on a yellow but his first yellow was very harsh It was a standard yellow. It's the exact same if you stop someone taking a quick free kick. It's not as if Hart chased him down and kicked the ball at him. Smalling followed him and blocked his kick. I do think zabaleta should have had a booking though.

Problem with typing words is that one cannot convey sarcasm of hyperbole so easily. Smalling is just a spanner and United fans are rightfully going to crucify him.

I said fine, not great. His decisions, or lack of, evened out in the end and I actually think it's United that are getting pretty lucky with his calls now.

To be honest i also thought the first yellow was harsh. Hart tried to clear that ball quickly, i don't see why Smalling should have to move out of the way, just give the foul and play on. But you're right, there is no conspiracy, United have also had a few calls go their way.

Agreed both have but that's the point the ref has shown no consistency, both City fullbacks should be on yellows that in itself could change the complexion of the game.
November 2, 201411 yr Looks like an easy 3 points for city then. A shame, but as most of us predicted.

Lol! Smalling is an idiot. On the bright side at least a united defeat will stop the media love in... until they scrape a win at home to the like of Sunderland.

It wasn't an innocent mistake.

I agree he shouldn't have to get out of the way, but any movement to block it, has to be a yellow.
November 2, 201411 yr They're still holding on, not the first time I've seen a team fail to score in 90 mins despite having all the chances, hopefully today is another one
November 2, 201411 yr Not with this refI think, if anything, the ref has been kind to Utd since the (entirely justified) sending off.

November 2, 201411 yr I think, if anything, the ref has been kind to Utd since the (entirely justified) sending off. But his refusal to book City players for clear yello card fouls shows he won't send off one of theirs, that was my point
November 2, 201411 yr Is this the worst defence there has ever been in the premiership? I know it's make shift but absolutely terrible; Valencia-Carrick-McNair-Shaw
November 2, 201411 yr The tackles are flying in from both sides. Good to see, but if/when somebody times it wrongly we could easily see another sending off...
