Puts all that ridiculous hype that followed after an undeserved equaliser against us into perspective...Utd are way short...can't say I was that impressed by City either given they were playing against 10 men for so long

That is why I had a chuckle. The dirty red mancs celebrated rvp's goal like it was 1999. I guess they were just happy to be equal to CFC this season. That might be the highlight for their season.

United are the biggest club in England and remain to be so.

We have some way to go to become bigger than them. No doubt they'll be challenging next season.

They will have to spunk another fortune to close the gap..defensively all over the place and the when add fact rooney is sh*t, van Persie is old, falcao is clearly not what he was, they need to find a fortune to buy strikers as well..and without cl football, which is a possibility the way they're going, they will struggle to attract and finance such moves

If you see which great names go to Manchester United with all it's history like Di Maria en Falcao, I think they aren't gonna struggle with attracting great players. And Falcao has been struggling with injures, I believe we will see him in top form again this year, give it some time.

They're one of the biggest clubs in the world going through a blip.

They don't need to spend a fortune. They just need to buy smarter.

The finance may become an issue in a few years without CL but I don't see that happening. They'll be back in the CL next season.

I can't see this. Maybe Europa Liga, but not UCL. People are not taking Southampton serioulsy, but look at how many goals the Saints have given up so far. True we will learn more about this side in the coming months, but I don't think yanited will finish above them or le arse.

I think people are taking Southampton too seriously, they have started very well but have only played Liverpool and Tottenham (who have both started terribly this season) of the teams that finished above them last year and they lost both. They are a small squad and with injuries or suspensions they will struggle.

We rarely see a team break the normal top four teams, even Tottenham have only managed it twice recently and they're a much bigger club than Southampton. Everton and Newcastle have both come close recently but couldn't manage it, I would love Southampton to finish second but they will fall short.

Just food for thought of those who think manure will finish above The Saints. The Saints are 9 points ahead of manure in the table & have a +16 (the same as us) but only have allowed 5 goals all season. I don't see manure overcoming that.

There's a hell of a lot of games left to play and no ones really cementing a challenge for top 4 outisde us and City. Southampton are currently but that won't last all season. The teams who will be battling for 3-4 come the end of the season will probably still be Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs.

I refuse to take manure finishing in the Top 4 seriously until they win a road match. We are 4 months into the season & they have failed to do just that.

Still think they'll get it right and go on a good run.

If United beat them twice that's 6 points already. Southampton are at their peak at the moment other teams are a long way off and can (and will) only get better. Maybe united wont get top four or even finish above Southampton but I really don't think the way football is at the moment well ever see a smaller club like Southampton finish in the top four.

I can see next season, but not this one. Let's be real here. I have seen Juventus, Corinthians & River Plate relegated in the past 10 years. Still all of them came back to become Champions. I don't think manure will get relegated, but for them to recover won't be as hard as the other 3 Big Clubs that I have just mentioned. However, I can't take manure finishing in the Top 4 right now. They can't even goto Leicester & get a result. Let me repeat this fact again, manure have not won an away match this season!!!!

in other crap fanbase news, citeh have had to offer two seats for price of one to sell out cl game in midweek...they've only been playing at this level for few seasons and done fcul all in comp so far and struggling to qualify for next phase again...can understand the lack of interest!

And if not, they'll change the manager, and keep changing the manager until they get it right, or Guardiola is available.

Unfortunately they've become far too big globally to suffer too much from the odd year out of the CL. If they have to pay OTT fees for players they will, because they can afford to, and the end will suit the means.

Woud be lovely for it to be the end of them, but just can't see it. The media kept them right in the public eye throughout the 70s & 80s when they were genuinely crap. 'Back-page Utd' was the nickname even if the performances didn't warrant the coverage. Such is their popularity the media will not allow them to slip away. Might take the pee occasionally, but they'll queue up to kiss the Utd ass very soon again.

The mailonline reporting what I was saying yesterday, If Liverpool don't offer Gerrard a new contract he will either go to the MLS or come to us, Apparently Pellegrini is interested in bringing him.

Please don't let him come to the MLS.  With any luck, he'll play for the Chicago Fire, and I'll hear about it nonstop. :pUKe:

And they are expanding the stadium.............i really don't understand why they think now is good time to expand it, it's never full.

The fact that they can't even sell out or get close to selling out a must win Champions League game shows that support for that club is pretty poor.

Juve was relegated for match-fixing, it had nothing to do with their performance, and were promoted straight back to the Serie A the next season.

I don't mind United. I would like to see them back in the CL.

Your lot however can feck off.

Tell you one team I'm not worried about, us, carry on as things are, and we could win it by 12 points this season.

No other team worries me, the biggest threat we have to look forward to, is Derby away in the cup.

I never thought I'd see the day where United fans would clutch onto moral victories Lol Fair play to them they did well in the last 15 minutes of the game but it was there for everyone to see that we were short on confidence, We were edgy, nervy, Even in the first half we didn't really get going, It was just a moment of magic from Aguero creating chances for us, As everyone prior to the game including myself said we were there for the taking. I actually cannot believe we are still 6 points behind Chelsea, I went back through our results so far and we have had two periods in the season where we have not won a game for 3 matches and we have had a blip/semi crisis, I actually think that Van Persie equaliser last week did us more favours than I originally thought.

Now you fellas know I'm not a wind up merchant or an attention seeker so when I say this you know I'm being 100 % serious, I actually think Liverpool can end the unbeaten run, If not get a point. If you go back to the United v Chelsea match thread I openly said that you would not lose to United and that Liverpool away was your toughest test. Looking at that game now, Liverpool should be going into that game off the back of consecutive defeats, So Chelsea have to play the crowd, the emotions of the day, The fact the opponent wants to get back to winning ways and the revenge factor, Trust me they haven't forgotten about that game from last year, They are still seething. That game is their Cup final, The players will want revenge, the manager, the fans etc, If Rodgers is under pressure for his job, Do you think beating Chelsea or holding them to a draw will buy him some time from the scouse fans? You bet it will. You cannot ignore what you did, You stopped them from winning their first Premier League title in humiliating fashion.

Now whilst that is just my opinion, As you all know I'm very fair in my assessments, I certainly will not overlook how good of a game manager Mourinho is and how much superiority your team has over theirs, The other way to look at this game is, If Chelsea win at Anfield on Saturday, With all those hurdles I have placed in front of them, I would walk the Premier League trophy to Stamford Bridge, It will take massive balls to win at Anfield next week.

Whatever happens and I know it's still early but next week is a mahooosive weekend in the title race.

I think you're right, it will be a massive test.

On another note though, you've proved yourself to be an excellent poster on here and so you no longer have to justify any comments you make that might go against the grain.  We'll soon tell you if you overstep the mark !
