Following Our Nearest and Dearest Rivals, 2014-15

"I hear Moh going on about 'boring Chelsea'; they've won the title, fourteen points clear! Oh that's very boring innit? VERY f**kING BORING!"

Arsenal fans should really listen to this Claude fellow. His heart rules his head but in his case, it's a positive.

I loved that bit about giroud being a first class model - 'if you need someone to do head & shoulders, then he is your man' :laugh2:

Look at the Swanesa Vs Arsenal game, that's why we won the title, We were in a number of similar games like this against dodged opponent (Everton, WestHam, QPR), and we found a way to win most of them, while our rivals couldn't.

Arsenal fans will never admit it but Jose's comments on Wenger being a "Specialist in Failure" cut them deep, VERY deep. The truth hurts and in this instance it hurt a f**king lot considering that since Wenger last won the league Jose has won the league in Portugal, England, Italy, Spain, then come back to England and won the league in England again.

We have a case for calling Wenger the "Specialist in Failure" as there is actual, tangible evidence to support our case.

Arsenal fans do not have a case for "Boring, Boring Chelsea" on the other hand as... well...

Yeah, argument over.

be warned - this is a gooner Claude Meltdown alert

Can't fault the bloke, he clearly cares about his team and hasn't been taken in by all the Wenger bs.

He's right about their keeper too. All the more reason for us not to sell them Cech, who'd be worth at least an extra 10 points to them.

Honestly, Arsenal are the most fickle fans in the league, bar none. That mob chanting 'one Arsene Wenger' were probably the same ones holding up 'Wenger out' banners when they were 8th earlier in the season. Then they win a few games in a favourable run of fixtures and suddenly they forget about wanting Wenger out because they're going to win the league and they have Jose running scared. They inevitably fizzle out, finish 3rd/4th again, lose at home to Swansea, evacuate the stadium with 10 minutes to go and the ones who are left boo the team off. Fickle beyond belief.

Wenger's reaction last evening is good news for next season. He thinks that all is well with Arsenal and blames other teams whenever they play poorly. He probably will not add much to the squad in the summer and we'll see an improved but not a title-challenging Arsenal next season.

Disgusting of Swansea to not want to concede a goal. It's not football.

Arsenal....at the end of the day ladies and gents.....F**K EM!.....F.U.C.K THEM!!!  With their fancy back heels and moral victories....GO F**K YOURSELVES!!!

Sums them up. No pressure on them and they go on a winning run. Pressure now on them and their arses fall out. Such a spineless bunch.

Monk's retort:

"If we didn't play, I don't know how we got three points, but there are times where you have to be adaptable and we've shown that time and time again this season. That's the double over Arsenal. We've done the double over Manchester United. So if people don't like it, it's not my problem."

le voyeur isn't that upset because the achievement that the gooners are trying to obtain is still within reach

Only team in the league undefeated in their last 10 fixtures.

5 losses LESS this season than our nearest "rivals".

Only team in the league to have conceded less than 30 goals this season.

THAT'S WHY WE'RE CHAMPIONS!

What awful crap is this

Playoffs? This isn't Rugby League where finishing top practically means jack sh*t. If they did play offs to decide who would be Champions what's the point finishing first?

To be honest it doesn't surprise me, Adrian Durham is a complete twonk.

Gutted for Sheffield United, my best mate supports them so have a soft spot.

and... BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ARSENAL!!!!

I live in Australia and they have a play-off system after the "regular season" is finished for the domestic league here. The team that finishes first during the season get a trophy but it's still seen second behind the play-off winner which will consist of teams that finished in the top 6.

the only people that would put value in such a thing in england is the premier league themselves as they would make quite a lot of money. but the only reason why such a system is prevalent in countries like Australia or the US is because it's tradition in other sports in those countries.

the whole concept of an underdog that could come through win a few games at the end of the season and be crowned champions - very flawed concept in my eyes i can see why people enjoy it. And there are some leagues that use this system not just in Australia or the US but in Belgium and Mexico as well.

Ultimately it's a money spinner for the league to make more cash on the back of heightened interest. There's no point having such a thing in my eyes as we have the FA cup and League cup that can offer that "play-off feeling", not to mention the whole value in being first past the post get's diminished - 9 months of hard work to finish on top of the league all gone in the space of a month simply because a team at the bottom end managed to put a few wins together and win the final at the end.

don't like it

The entire playoff system in every league should be scrapped imo, its completely unfair on whoever comes 3rd when the team thats 6th can take their spot because of a one-off game.

Props to Garry Monk on the fine job he is doing at Swansea, I thought it was going to be quite short term and the initial up turn in form of a new manager would soon see Swansea slip away.

But he's done a really good job, he lost his best player in January in Bony but made a very astute signing by bringing in Jack Cork from Southampton.

If he can bring in a half decent striker for next season I see no reason why he cannot continue the fine job he's doing.

I'm not Tim Sherwood's biggest fan but it is nice to see some new blood in terms of English managers doing well in top flight football.

From a business standpoint in Rugby and in the lower leagues it kind of works but I agree that it's very unfair. It would be massively unfair to have it decide who the Champions are though.

Once we'd guaranteed a top six place, probably about March, wouldn't we do exactly what we've done since clinching the title and ease off? After all, there'd be no real advantage between finishing 1st or 6th. He'd still be complaining.

As I've missed most of this conversation, didn't see the game and haven't read any reports from last night - what's the deal with the Swansea goal? Should it have been disallowed for whatever reason? Was there a foul? Sorry you've probably all covered this!

Proof that the goal line technology works.

Ball went over the line and the referee had the confidence in the technology to trust that it was correct and didn't try to dispute that it may not have been a goal.

Ospina was wagging his finger at the decision but it's now a fool's errand trying to dispute those decisions. I think football is the richer for it.

Nope it was correctly given because it crossed the line but it probably wouldn't have been given before video tech

Funnily enough, a Gooner at Arsenal-Mania reckons it wouldn't have been given were it against Chelsea or United etc. I think it's correct to say some of them are delusional idiots, of course it would have been given as it crossed the line and the ref got buzzed.
