Following Our Nearest and Dearest Rivals, 2014-15

Anyone could look like a tactical genius with Messi in his side. It's ironic that Enrique was under pressure only a few months ago, now he's on track to win the triple in his first season. Who said it was difficult managing Barcalona?

I live in Australia and they have a play-off system after the "regular season" is finished for the domestic league here. The team that finishes first during the season get a trophy but it's still seen second behind the play-off winner which will consist of teams that finished in the top 6.

the only people that would put value in such a thing in england is the premier league themselves as they would make quite a lot of money. but the only reason why such a system is prevalent in countries like Australia or the US is because it's tradition in other sports in those countries.

the whole concept of an underdog that could come through win a few games at the end of the season and be crowned champions - very flawed concept in my eyes i can see why people enjoy it. And there are some leagues that use this system not just in Australia or the US but in Belgium and Mexico as well.

Ultimately it's a money spinner for the league to make more cash on the back of heightened interest. There's no point having such a thing in my eyes as we have the FA cup and League cup that can offer that "play-off feeling", not to mention the whole value in being first past the post get's diminished - 9 months of hard work to finish on top of the league all gone in the space of a month simply because a team at the bottom end managed to put a few wins together and win the final at the end.

don't like it

It also depends on how it's played. In the MLS, we have the same thing. The league is made up of 20 teams, and there are two conferences, Eastern and Western.  The top six of each go on to the playoffs. The third and sixth and the fourth and fifth in each conference play each other in single-elimination rounds, and the winners go on to play the first and second-placed teams of their respective conferences. The conference finals (next round) are on aggregate, like the knockout stages of the UCL. There's also something called the Supporter's Shield.  Not exactly sure what that one's about.

It has its merits and its downfalls. The downfalls are as you said, all those months of work to finish on the top of the league are gone within a month thanks to a "giant-killer".

It can also make an already-long season even more so.

However, in the leagues that use the playoff system, whilst there are more matches crammed into the space of a season, it's shorter. The MLS's season, for example, runs April-October, which includes the playoffs. Also, in America, there are divisions and conferences in each league, so having such a title means a higher seed, and an "easier" (in theory) opponent in the first round.  Or, in the case of the MLS, sit pretty and wait until the lower seeds sort themselves out.  :anim:

Sheeshhh, Ronnie's leg muscle that he's been "training" for Juventus. Best of luck to him!

Shredded, his bodyfat must be about 6 or 7 % tops

Yeah, he's ridiculously fit. No surprise since many of his team mates and managers say he's always last to leave training/gym.

He can't enjoy a spicy chicken 16 inch pizza with a bottle of coke though!

Ronaldo is the kind of athlete who could become good at any sport - a bit like Sonny Bill Williams but I reckon much, much more potential.

Imagine him in the Cage Zola!

It'd be a sh*t final. Just full of players diving and rolling around. Especially Alba. What a c**t.

Yup.

I hate Real - Barca games for that very reason.

Hopefully a non la liga ref would clamp down on all that rubbish though.

Book the first one for play acting and book the next one to get in the refs face, would soon see a stop to the pitiful antics both clubs players try in La Liga.

I still think with Robben and Ribery the two legs would have been very different

Agreed.

That's basically two of there best attacking players who missed both legs. That would hurt any team in reality.

Like Barca being without Neymar and Suarez, it wouldn't have been as one sided for sure.

Tonight will be closer I feel but can't see past Real.

You mean it not a Torres reference ?

Cheeky Nandos

A term used by f**kboys over social media in order to facilitate their need for attention by adding the prefix 'Cheeky' to the restaurant chain Nandos, usually followed by 'with the lads' - aka a group of tools equal to or greater than the original tool posting the update.

Expect some sort of deeply depressing Metrosexual attire and a variety of group selfies and close up shots of the food that's been ordered. Essentially using this term means the final nail in the coffin of your masculinity has been hammered.

'Off out with the lads for a Cheeky Nandos'    :happy001:

it's rare we agree, but I'm with you 100% on that. A final with him, soggy biscuits, pepe, Ramos, alves etc would be horrible.

Terrible squad management! I don't know how Bayern didn't bring in a decent replacement when Shaqiri left. In my opinion a situation like this could have been avoided since Robbery are infamously known as glass players.

But Bayern couldn't defend for toffee...injuries are unfortunate but is no excuse...we won it in 2012 with all sorts of problems and absentees

of course but they lost their two best players and you know what it's like if one team takes the advantage it can set the other back mentally. I'm not saying Bayern would have won but it would have been a damn site closer.

An el clasico uefa final, would be out of this world! As far as the Ballon dor, I see Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo in the final 3.

They have played each other something like 20+ times in the past 4/5 years alone.

It's boring now.
