A few rules with this one: first, you can only pick one album from any one artist/group & secondly, you can't pick a best of etc. & third, where stumped between a choice of two or possibly three really good or great albums from the same artist/band try to pick the album which you feel is the most "self-contained" statement/

Would you like to read the rules, then have another try?

Pink Floyd Animals. And to think there was a chance CFC almost played in that iconic power station. I want CFC to remain in Da Bridge, but I would have gladly accepted Battersea Power Station

Well, on November 10th I for one shall be sitting, digit poised and a member of the IT literate set alongside, in front of the magic box of wires ready to download The Endless River. The fruit of my loins is dragging me into modernity, but I must admit the Sonos gifted to me is a jolly good piece of kit.

I dare say this particular album will be my personal number 1 well into next year, unless Floyd disappoint which I can't imagine they will.

At a rough guess her post was aimed at anyone who has ignored the rules by posting more than one album by the same artist.

1. Pink Floyd: The Wall

2. Duran Duran: Rio

3. U2: Achtung Baby

4. Kajagoogoo: White Feathers

5. John Barry: The Living Daylights

6. John Barry: On Her Majesty's Secret Service

7. Depeche Mode: Music For The Masses

8. Def Leppard: Hysteria

9. Alphaville: Forever Young

10: Human League: Dare

11. Tears For Fears: Songs From The Big Chair

12. Ultravox: Lament

13: Ultravox: Vienna

Can't really think of many more, but still, an unusual taste in music, for a 30 year old lad.

Yes. Unusual is one word for putting Kajagoogoo and Pink Floyd on the same list! I can't imagine that's been done before.

lol, I remember on the way to the FA Cup final against Pompey, me and my two mates listening to that Kajagoogoo album, I think that's why I keep listening to it now, was such a surreal trip.

Wow guys, this forum's musical tastes have impressed me. Good stuff.

I'd love to try post my 20 but I have no idea on the order; how do you compare Bob Marley with The Smiths, or The Specials with Joy Division? It would take me all day. I do know my number one album however, London Calling (The Clash)... in my opinion the greatest record of all time.

No need to rank them. Just list your top 20, with only one alnum allowed by any artist, and no greatest hits collections.

I haven't found the time to do mine yet, either.

Ok, this is going to drive me nuts trying to pick just 20 albums, so I'll make it easier for myself by not even attempting to put them in any other order than alphabetical.

The Adverts - "Cast of Thousands"

Arcade Fire - "Funeral"

Beirut - "The Rip Tide"

Andrew Bird - "Andrew Bird & The Mysterious Production of Eggs"

David Bowie - "Hunky Dory"

Pixies - "Doolittle"

Sonic Youth - "Daydream Nation"

Argh... So many good bands/artists had to be left out AND great albums by artists/bands who did make it to the list.
