March 26, 201610 yr If a player talks bad about the club he represents, then can't play and represent the emblem of our club on his shirt, that's my opinion. If a player can't deal with one bad season and decides to talk wrong about the club, then his place is not here. I read some quotes about his words and I was disappointed to read that he prefers to play for Belguim more than for Chelsea, and he prefers Belguim's defence. Maybe these quotes are wrong and fake, but if they're right, I'd prefer to give him some time on the bench to wake up and let him that this club has won the title last season and one bad season changes nothing because it's football and everything can happen, and he should remember that he plays in one of the best football clubs in the world. He made a lot of mistakes this season, so he's not perfect as well. He was put in a tough position. Imagine if he had said to the Belgian journalist that he prefers to play for Chelsea over the national team. The people there would throw him on the waffle grill. Our lads could really do with some American or Canadian style media training. All athletes there are contractually obligated to be available for during official media access sessions. Is this true in the PL too? It seems like managers always talk to the media no matter how much they clearly don't want to, and I've seen players at press conferences alongside the managers. On the other hand we haven't heard a peep from Costa, and he's a player I would think the media would like to interview. American and Canadian players get intense training about how to answer bait questions and how to avoid phrasing that's easily twisted by the media. For example, if they were asked the aforementioned question, they would be rehearsed to say that they like to play for their professional team and national team equally. In addition if a player publicly says something clearly negative about a teammate or other club employee, some coaches will drop them from a game as punishment. You can see in this video how well Begovic handles questions. I have no doubt it's due to growing up in Canada. https://youtu.be/b4AM-L8_zGI
March 26, 201610 yr Lukaku, Courtois, Hazard... What the hell is it with Belgium players saying these kinds of things to the media? Are they not media trained well enough? We went massively out of our way to accommodate Courtois, he needs to show some loyalty in return, especially with the season he's had. God I'm disillusioned this season, a lot of the player's attitudes have really annoyed me. I don't mind players being selfish or prima-donnas so long as they put the work in for 90 minutes each week (Ronaldo is perhaps the ultimate example of this). Sulking off and on the pitch just isn't on with the money this players are earning. Maybe we really should do a big clear out with the starting 11 next year featuring 4-5 new names. March 26, 201610 yr You could buy Neuer with that. Bayern doesn't need Neuer with the quality of the rest of the guys on the field. Personally I've always felt Neuer is overrated. Would love to see him prove me wrong. Haha, what else should he do to prove you wrong? World Cup trophy, CL trophy, German player of the year, Fifa XI, World Cup first XI...... that is the most ridiculous opinion Ive ever heard in my life
March 26, 201610 yr Haha, what else should he do to prove you wrong? World Cup trophy, CL trophy, German player of the year, Fifa XI, World Cup first XI...... that is the most ridiculous opinion Ive ever heard in my lifeTo prove me wrong he'd need to show me what he can do on a weak squad. For club and country he plays with one of the most, arguably the very most, organized and skilled squads. Would he be able to replicate his form on a below average but not horrible team such as Northern Ireland for instance? Behind the Villa or Newcastle "defense" or, more generously, on a team like Everton that is decent overall but defensively weak? Or would he lose it due to frustration, pessimistic dressing room atmosphere, lack of confidence in his teammates, etc? As far as his supposed revolutionary sweeper keeper stuff, Rene Higuita was doing that 20 years ago. Higuita doesn't get the credit because he played for Colombia during one of the darkest times any squad has had to endure. Bayern plays so high, and Neuer can count on his teammates, so the risk of leaving the box isn't so risky. Leaving the box requires a lot of confidence, and that's hard to have when you have weak teammates. Of course it's not Neuer's fault that he was born in Germany and wants to play for the best club there, and this we won't find out if he can do it with weak teammates. I don't assume that he wouldn't be able to replicate his form with weak teammates. Maybe he would excel under those circumstances and be even better. And for all we know, maybe the causation is reverse. Maybe Bayern and Germany are so good and play high because they have Neuer, not the other way around. My point is that Neuer gets so many plaudits in part because he plays on such good teams. Neuer's national team performance has especially earned him acclaim, and his stature grew from the World Cup win. If he had lost that game, his stock would have fallen a bit. Contrast that with Navas who almost singlehandedly took Costa Rica to the World Cup quarterfinal (losing in penalties to a Dutch team of cheating fakers). Along the way they won the group that included England, Italy, and Uruguay. Costa Rica! Their best field player is an Arsenal reject, and their captain couldn't make the starting Fulham team in the Championship. Yet I rarely hear Navas mentioned when you talk about the great current Real Madrid squad or the great current goalkeepers. I'm not saying Navas is better than Neuer. I'm saying that the demonstrated gap between Neuer and many goalkeepers in weaker teams is smaller than commonly thought. Edited March 26, 201610 yr by offside
March 26, 201610 yr Contrast that with Navas who almost singlehandedly took Costa Rica to the World Cup quarterfinal (losing in penalties to a Dutch team of cheating fakers). Here is more of Rene Higuita as sweeper keeper. https://youtu.be/CFxAwdP9CXM
March 26, 201610 yr Seems you are convinced. Were Shalke weak enough for you? They made it to a CL semi-final. Navas plays at REAL MADRID and he doesnt get enough attention? To the original point I dont think Bayern would sell him for any amount because they dont need the money and they would have to be idiots to sell him.
March 27, 201610 yr Haha, what else should he do to prove you wrong? World Cup trophy, CL trophy, German player of the year, Fifa XI, World Cup first XI...... that is the most ridiculous opinion Ive ever heard in my lifeValdes has won more than him but still I don't rate both of them. The only way they can prove me wrong is if they come to play in the EPL. They both benefit from playing for teams that always have about 60 to 70% possession of the ball everytime which they are rarely called to action in most matches. If Valdes or Neuer is in goal for the current United team their flaws will be easily exposed.

March 27, 201610 yr Who wants to leave if you'll not playing in Europe, AndyBlue82? It's only rumours at the moment but Oscar, Costa, Courtois and Matic are the most rumoured to want to leave. Will we allow 4 first teamers to leave this summer? No, probably not. Think we'll lose Costa and Oscar although Oscar will probably be sacrificed for someone the new manager wants rather then demanding to leave.
March 27, 201610 yr I find Courtois' comments disgusting. He is under contract to Chelsea for another three years and is therefore bound to play to the maximum of his ability during that period. Instead, like Hazard, he's tarting himself around Spanish clubs because he can't face a season out of the Champions' League. Which, incidentally, he and his mates managed to fail to qualify for through some appalling performances. He can go and rot in the reserves. Chelsea fans who don't boo this traitor, Hazard and others to high heaven are not Chelsea fans IMO.
March 27, 201610 yr Author There's nothing to disguss, Pamery. He hasn't said it. Watch #499 page 25.
March 27, 201610 yr Author I guess that everbody wants to leave, AndyBlue82. Noone wants to miss Europe. Certainly not after a Euro.

March 27, 201610 yr FFS........We shouldn't have try to keep players who are only interested in themselves and shown their true colours on the pitch by playing sh#t for most of the season and clearly only play when it suits them and have shown for most of the season, they are not interested in rolling up their sleeves and fighting for the club. i would much rather have a large nucleus of young home grown players with fighting spirit, who are prepared to run their socks off and be grateful to Chelsea fc for giving them the chance, rather than a bunch of Hazard and Courtous type players who when interviewed by the media come across as being egotistic deluded Belgium Idiots ! These so called big stars at Chelsea signed a contract earning millions of pounds and should do their utmost best to honour the contract. Although we know, they only joined Chelsea because .......1.) the massive money and 2.) they thought they could just turn up and win trophies without putting in much effort. Quite frankly I will be happy to see the back of most of them. I would keep recall Ake, Christensen and a few others, keep Willian, JT, Zuma, Cahill, Dave and the kids,, I.e.... Traore, RLC, Kenedy, Begovic, but the rest of them can pi$$ right off go ! ........but what club is gonna be daft enough to want to sign them and pay them anywhere near to what they get paid by us ? Oh yes ....Real Madrid ? ! Or would they ? Who knows, we shall see at the end of this season, it can't come sooner.

They don't give a f***k about Chelsea and your approach is just to bend over and take it
March 27, 201610 yr Well said Pamery ! I've been a Chelsea supporter since 1962, and fans world wide, have always reserved their right to voice their dissatisfaction when they feel a player is not giving 100% on the pitch and also off the pitch.....and is disrespecting the club by selfishly touting themselves in the worlds media Why shouldn't we ? We have that right, as We pay a contribution towards Their over inflated wages. Guus Hiddink says the same, and quite frankly Coutois and his Belgium mate need to Up their game on the pitch and Wise up off it, before they open they're idiotic mouths to the media.
March 27, 201610 yr Whaaaaaaaaaaaat? What don't you understand, Belgian footballers are gobsh*tes. We've had hazard and courtois in the past few weeks talking sh*te about our club, benteke gobbing of left right and centre and lukaku yesterday making an arse of himself.
