Chelsea vs PSG (Champions League Second Leg) 11/03/2015

Featured Replies

It's just my attempt at playing down this apparent outclassing of us by PSG. They couldn't do a thing in open play (The only one I can remember is the one Cavani fluffed) and scored their goals stoke like. Brilliant set pieces. Something we have done to teams countless times.

They out chelsea'd us. They defended well and in numbers, taking their chances on the break and via set piece. They are the dirtiest team we have faced all season too.

They aren't mugs, no shame in being eliminated by them, especially with such a knackered and overplayed tiny squad which is something that needs addressing.

NO shame in eliminated by a 10-men team for almost more than half the game and that at home. Okay...

They are dirtiest I'd agree... but we are no saints either.. And you can't expect a 10-men team to outclass us. Even though they still did somewhat.

Our players were walking.. showing no intensity, no desire, nothing when we were ahead, they were just waiting for it to be finished. It was dreadful to watch. I knew by the time it was bound to happen(the equaliser). It's karma at it's best.

I seriously hope it would teach Mourinho something... Because this isn't the first time we've suffered from this. It was also against City, United, PSG(away as well).

And you can't call our squad tiny when our players are rotting the bench like Remy, Cuadrado, Schurrle, Salah etc. It was evident that Costa has been struggling a lot recently, but still we don't give Remy a chance or even Drogba. That's sad. We're playing Ramires, when we have Cuadrado and Willian etc.

You just can't complain about our depth.

I agree he was a twat last night but we know he's always been a bit of a c**t, he was our c**t I think booing him everytime he touched the ball was a little excessive is all.

Trying to get Costa sent off by pretending to be headbutted and mugging off the MHL, Shed and East Lower was excessive.

David Luiz has always been about David Luiz, he always talks about himself not the team and I said that when he was here too. He plays for himself, great players play for their teammates and the club. That's just my view but last night he showed his true colours to 'fans' who gave him a f**kload of support.

And funnily enough a few of the PSG fans on the tube at Earl's Court were joking about wanting a refund because whilst we all know he can have great games, he's just as likely to not be interested when it's not a 'big' game and he can't mug for the cameras. I'll take Zouma, Cahill, JT and Ivanovic every, single day.

And you're still the only person I've ever encountered to have this opinion.

The better side won over 2 legs. Disappointed with the not to lose approach. Disappointed with our total reliance on Haz to create. The others have really dropped off of late. It's a fair measure of where we are but we need more confidence and quality in the passing to be the best in Europe, that's not going to come from Ramires. Still the best team in England but a bit more building required for that extra step up, hopefully we can get some of the youth in the mix as well in the next 2 or 3 years.

Honestly guys there is much overreaction about this result in general. I'm seeing it in the media and I'm seeing it here.

The result is a little to do with a lack of depth/rotation. But I think it is over the top to proclaim certain players aren't up to it. We simply didn't play well, we didn't press and dominate the ball with the extra man and so PSG didn't tire. That is down to Joses approach. He got this one wrong. Simple as that.

Of course we can improve the squad and rotate more but tonight wasn't a trend (although we're not swashbuckling anymore) I think there won't be a significant detrimental effect to the title chase.

I'm disappointed but not disillusioned. Less games so onwards and upwards to a league title!

"I don't know if I have to get angry or start to laugh. For me when I saw the red card I was like 'the guy doesn't know what he's doing'.

I don't know if [Oscar] was acting afterwards. Doesn't matter. We won the game, we went through and let's see what happens."

Ibrahimovic displaying his typical level of class - presumably he will receive a ban for questioning the referee's competence.

"The reaction of Chelsea was amazing. Oscar should be up for an Oscar."

Lawro displaying his typical level of drunken insight and linguistic intelligence - time for the quietus perhaps?

jamie carragher's anti Chelsea rant at half time was unbelievable ... and totally unacceptable.

All these Liverpool pundits on Sky are total w**kers.

Indeed.

Just to remind everyone of carjackers half time quote, when he was shown the replay of the red card incident and the Chelsea players appeals to the ref, carjacker said..

"That's why Chelsea are admired, but will never be loved"

Doesn't he have a point? We all love Chelsea but if you didn't support us then would you hold us up as a great side? If you were a neutral would you watch us because of the way we played? Maybe earlier in the season and possibly to see Hazard but we're never going to be loved.

I disagree with what he said about us surrounding the ref because PSG did that too, and most teams do it but on the point you've highlighted I can see where he's coming from. I just don't care.

That was shocking!!!! even after the match, attack after attack, not even an opinion clear hate againts us...wow....!!! I had to switch the channel couldn't take their crap anymore

How many times is that now that we've failed to park the bus without Mikel? ;)

Don't take offence, but that's a really, really strange point to make. I don't think a single person was missing Mikel.

There was only one Defensive Midfielder we were missing last night and it's the one who went off 2 minutes before they scored.

Think people are forgetting Chelsea's policy of selling to buy and think it's no good sticking head in the sand and thinking everything is ok after such an early exit in cl...Jose won't be...yes he will lift all the players for title run-in...but you can bet he is already planning for next season and while selling 'half the team' is ott, think he is looking at a few players as ones that can go if big bids come in...don't think Willian will be one of them...he loves him

No, he sounded sour and bitter, very unprofessional. Nobody expects neutral fans to love your team, but you don't expect a professional pundit to be so bitter.

Imagine if Ruud Gullit was pundit for a top Euroepan Liverpool game, and he said something similar about Liverpool players.

Lots of opportunists and haters enjoying chelsea demise, from ex pros to fans...have to laugh when so many rival clubs fans, inc. arse and city are giving it when they have done fcuk all in cl for years and are going out themselves next week...but for cfc, pl record in Europe over last few years has been an embarrassment...

I just hope players see nobs like Carragher and Souness sticking boot in and gives them fire to win the title...that will shut them up in the best way

I actually haven't seen the comments so I had to check

Is this the right one? I know he said stuff at half-time too but he seems remarkably measured and taking the blue-specs off, I can't see a tremendous amount wrong with what he says. Maybe it's just the accent.

Yeah.

Players we really have to sell are Ramires and Mikel. They just aint good enough back up options because the level drops so severely when they are asked to come in.

I'd also be looking to replace Oscar and if we recieve a big money offer (I doubt we will since he's been off the boil for so long) then I'd be taking it and looking to bring in maybe an Isco type who attaking wise would be far more effective compared to Oscar.

In terms off attaking we don't really know what Cuardrado will offer because we have not seen nearly enoug of him to properly judge (although a fair few on here have already made up their minds it seems). Willian is poor in the final third and means down the right hand side we are pretty much erasy to deal with.

I can't see a top drawer striker coming here given whats happened to Remy, if I was him I'd be looking to move in the summer. He doesn't even get a look in when our first choice striker is having a real dip in form.

No it was half time.

Imho the celebrity, anyone can, rapid rising in the media is a far cry from what was once know as 'the British sense of fair play'. There are a number of problems in football and most of them are not on the pitch. Good writers, journalists and commentators used to have a professional responsibility to be fair and balanced.

It's funny how souness goes on a rant about current football and how it's pathetic, yet every week is willing to sit in a sky studio and provide his punditry on current football lol. The irony of some of these pundits smh!

We have said this before on here, but given amount of top ex chelsea pros out there, surely one could have been found in sky studio last night? Why are two ex Liverpool talking about us in cl? Can you imagine two ex chelsea for Liverpool tie?! Yeah right...

Not saying cfc didn't deserve criticism last night, most of us are saying worse on here, but it did feel Carragher was bringing his personal bitterness after run ins with cfc into his analysis and was enjoying kicking a dog while it was down

I'm writing to sky to tell them unless they find some Chelsea pundits for our live games, they can stick their subscription and I will go and buy a chipped sky box.

I think that's fair.
