Kenedy aka 'The New Hulk'

Featured Replies

Chelsea hope to follow the £4.5m signing of Atletico Paranaense’s Nathan de Souza with that of his fellow Brazil Under-20 international Robert Kenedy for a similar fee as they seek to add to the club’s youth ranks this summer.

Kenedy, whose progress has been tracked by clubs such as Internazionale and Manchester United, has made his mark as a striker with Fluminense and finished as Brazil’s top scorer at the South America Under-17 championships two years ago with six goals.

Now 19, has already made public his desire to follow his compatriots Oscar and Ramires by moving to Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea’s interest now registered with his club.

Neither Nathan nor Kenedy would qualify for work permits to play in the Premier League at present, meaning both would have to be loaned out by Chelsea to European clubs to further their development.

The champions, who have had up to 30 players out on loan in each of the past few seasons, have enjoyed an arrangement with Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands but may now strike a similar deal with the Belgian club Royal Mouscron-Peruwelz, where non-European Union youngsters can gain first-team experience.

Yep. Courtois, KDB and Lukaku are prime examples. Waste.

Which shows it can work, this is one of the ways we have to make money given we lose revenue compared to our rivals due to playing in a smaller stadium.

Zeta though I think was going more for the likes of Atsu, Piazon, T.Hazard, Wallace, Omeruo, Kakuta, Traore, Cuevas , Perica etc who we have not really seen and in the majority of cases never will for Chelsea.

You can name 3 (all 3 were already well known as very hot prospects and already playing full international football).

I can name a lot more than 3 that will never ever play for us and were signed only for resale value.

So...?

Certainly, and those are the (acceptable) risks afforded to such a transfer system.

They were all hot prospects at the time the club signed them. Courtois had 1 (one!!) international appearance before he signed. It's, statistically speaking, a lottery after the transfer goes through. There is no difference between the perceived talent and reputation of Courtois, KDB and other boys like Marco van Ginkel or Traore (at the time of transfer). Atsu, Traore and Omeruo have all had international appearances as well.

I don't understand how you can name players that will never play for us and were only bought for resale value unless you have a crystal ball and some serious insider knowledge.

By that 'logic' we shouldn't have an academy.

This is a good club policy that fits into a larger club philosophy of targetting players before their value has peaked so that we can either develop them for us or sell them.

I'm honestly not sure what your point is. Of course there's a good chance they won't play for us....and?

I dont even like the old hulk, let alone this new fag.

Although it's idiotic enough insulting someone who you know nothing about, I don't appreciate your usage of the word "fag" which could easily be construed as an offensive slur about gay people.

oops ill change it

Yeah he's our now, for 10million euros. Apparently Barca had first option on him (and another hugely promising player in Gerson), so lets hope this signing is beneficial for us in the future, whether it be a profit or actually playing with us.

A Selecao expert actually really thinks he is a prospect, much more of a talent than Nathan, who we've also signed in this transfer window.

Odds on him kicking a ball for Chelsea ?

Fairly high, has a lot of first team experience for Fluminense, good chance of a work permit straight off the bat but either way I'd say just one season's loan before he comes into our first team.

Is he similar to anyone in the current squad, playing style-wise?
