Arda Turan is reportedly looking for a house in London, according to reports in Turkey

 

He needs one close to Gatwick, be a fair commute daily to Barcelona.

Only negative is the price, other than that he is quality and would fit well into Jose's philosophy.

Looking like Barca a done deal. Shame - won't be too many players of his quality moving this Summer.The fact the European Champions wanted him shows his status.

I was going to have a bit of a go at the likes of JMaher94 and a couple of others for doing the whole 'I watch more football than you' bullsh*t, but then I went back through the comments and all I can say is fair enough.

 

Deciding that we shouldn't sign someone purely based on stats is absolutely stunning. Same sort of thing that pisses me off so much about Willian. He doesn't have a high goal/assist count so that must mean he isn't contributing to the team whatsoever. 

 

Oh well, he's off to Barca anyway. Will be interesting to see if his stats matter when he plays for one of the all time great teams.

Barca and Atletico have agreed a fee for Turan, according to Sky Sports transfer center:

 

Also means what we knew already, the rules do not matter much to clubs like Barca and Real. Transfer bans or not, they can still sign players.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement over the sale of midfielder Arda Turan, 28, say Sport.

An official announcement over the player's move to Barca will be made shortly, with it expected that the Catalans will pay less than the Turkey international's €41m buyout clause in his contract at the Vicente Calderon.

It's not about Willian or Arda not contributing to the team, both of them are workhorses as first defenders and knows how to pass the ball around (high pass completion). The problem is that they are very simillar and both don't create or finish that many chances. Second half of last season we were looking to Hazard to create almost everything at times, wich is why we should have a simillar option on the right wing (Sterling).

i do think there should be rules in place with teams like barca and real, though. how can you stop them dominating when they buy the very best players? how does it make it fair for the rest of europe when those two are able to easily acquire the best players in the world. no matter how big the clubs in england are, we're never going to have that kind of draw for the likes of a future messi, ronaldo, neymar, suarez etc, because as soon as they do something great here, they will be off to spain within a couple seasons.

Griezmann is the better player, and much younger -- we should be trying to sign him. The European Champions want him as back up, he'll never get in that team ahead of the South American trident.

While it's not my intention to question his quality as I haven't seen much of him. I just think for the figures being quoted, and the age he's at, it doesn't represent good value. We should be signing players much younger such as Griezmann or Lacazette. Players like these that come at a fair price, and have a lot in terms of potential.

I totally get what you are saying and it's a great theory but I'm not sure Griezmanm would be a 'fair price'! Even taking into account his age he certainly would cost a lot more than the figures we are seeing mentioned for Turan.

It is. With the news from Rob Beasley that Luis wants to leave, Atletico wanting him back, it could be a deal worked out of Luis and say 5mill for Turan?

dunno why people are obsessed with griezmann, he'll end up a schurrle mark ll. we already have traore who can be back up for us as striker, and griezmann wouldn't be a RW for us. not saying he hasn't got quality, but money could be better spent elsewhere - although there's not a lot of choice right now.

I honestly am more excited at the prospect of seeing Traore beaded in to our team than most of the players we are being linked too.

 

However if we can play our cards right and end up with Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Traore and Turan, (as well as Cesc and Ramires as needed), I would be be quite happy with those options for our attacking midfield next season.

If you trust Beasley, he's also said we're not interested in Turan or Griezmann so.... will be interesting to see if Atleti are prepared to pay for Luis.

Right now it is almost all media saying Turan to Chelsea or Barca, against Rob Beasley who says no Chelsea move.  But I cant see how Beasley is so privy to info that the rest of the media arent
