I know, I'm thinking the same thing. My friend isn't a sports journalist but obviously works alongside several.. So it could very well just be guesswork and rumour.

That's not to say it won't happen but surely if it does it would mean one of Mata or Di Maria leaving considering they've already signed Depay?

They'd have to take a massive hit on di Maria if he was to leave, I can't imagine many clubs would be willing to go to the value that united paid for him. I'd be inclined to think that one or the other would have to make way, unless turan is going to be a utility man and LVG plans heavy squad rotation.

I can't say Id be particularly disappointed were we to miss out on him, just feel that our budget could be better spent elsewhere.

Report in Spain is turan has reached an agreement with United but is waiting on an offer from us before deciding. Apparently the size of the fee, given Turan's age, is something we are not looking to spend.

I reckon we should pull out just to see how United accommodate all these attacking mids next season and put in a cheeky bid for Turan at half the price in Jan

So Depay, Mata, Junazai, Valencia, Di Maria, Rooney, Young and now Turan.

Reminds me of us a year or two ago...attacking midfield overload.

To be fair seems like they may sell or loan juanzai, Valencia plays at right back and Rooney may well go back up top.

But yeah, a lot of options.

His transfer fee is just off putting to be honest, anyone remember the days when 30mil could get you a quality player?

I'd say he is. Prices are out of control these days anyway, it's very hard to judge. He offers a lot - energy, bite, movement, passing and he is VERY canny and he would undoubtedly become a fans favourite.

I genuinely think some fans aren't happy just because he isn't a superstar name. Not that it matters as it doesn't look like it is going to happen!

I'd be happy with him and it's nothing to do with a superstar name.

It's what we need in our first eleven that matters for that kind of money his end product and numbers are no better than Willians which are very poor.

We need assists and goals from the right since Hazard does it on the left, Turan would be a great squad player but for that kind of money you want someone you think will offer those things IMO.

If he came I think Turan wouldn't be a squad player he'd be a first XI mainstay. People paying far too much attention to these stats I think.

Can't see this transfer happening it just doesn't make sense with the squad we have, yes Turan is a great player but he just doesn't add anything new to the squad, unless Cuadrado leaves or even Willian or Oscar god forbid then i just don't think the wage burden and money spent is worth it. It just takes away from other potential transfers in more useful positions like a back up full back (3 players for 2 positions isn't enough), a future star centre back to replace Cahill in the coming seasons, and a strong box to box midfielder (Pogba would be perfect ;p even though it aint happening). This money can always be saved until a time when the market is more fruitful and better options are available. This transfer just doesn't seem right at this time.

End of the week, so maybe Sunday. 

Would love to sign this guy, he seems like a warrior and would fit into Jose's style of play seamlessly, the only concern I have is that his temper would get the better of him, I can remember him throwing his boots at a linesman!! And with us being Chelsea if any of this occured you know he would be given a life ban from football by the fa :p
