Pedro

If this happens then the turan signing makes more sense for barca. However a couple of things come to mind.

1. Did Pedro not have one year left on his deal at barca only to recently sign a new one? Would he have not been cheaper, a reported 9mill, before.

2. While he would replace Remy in terms on an option out wide right or left, as well as a number 10 option, are we saying we are happier with Pedro as our striker option is Costa's dodged hamstrings go again and falcao flops?

3. Are we not overfull on attacking midfield options already? Hazard has his position locked, Oscar is likely to start as the number 10 with a summer of rest behind him, and Jose loves willian. Then there is Bertrand, who is a cracking young player and deserve game time more than any of our other youth prospects imo, not to mention we still have cuadrado, salah and Moses on our books.

I know Moses and salah may get sold or loaned but surely if we get Pedro another one of the 5 needs to go, which would hopefully be cuadrado but at how big a ffp hit?

1. He was going to be out of contract so renewed so that Barca could get a good deal should he leave.

2. There's still time to buy/promote a striker.

3. Why does Traore deserves more game time than any of our other prospects? If anyone deserves game time it's Ake. Anyway, selling just Salah and Moses would make up most of the cost of buying Pedro. If Cuadrado does leave as well then it would be great business in terms of FFP.

It's not about just having numbers in attacking midfield. Moses, Salah and Cuadrado haven't proven that they are good enough and Traore is an unknown as far as I am concerned. We really need another quality option there and Pedro would provide competition for Willian and Oscar as well as back up for Hazard.

Why do we want someone who can provide competition and back-up?

Why not get somebody who does what Fabregas, Costa and Matic have, i.e. make us a much better team?

According to a 2015 youtube-compilation of him he looks pretty good. Pacy and lots of skill. Seems lot more direct to Willian but that is Spanish liga..defending is not their thing.

He only made 15 starts and those were invariably against mid or lower table teams.

Didn't start once in the knockout stages of the CL.

Now, I know Barcelona have a fearsome strike force and it's no disgrace if he can't dislodge them, but that youtube video has to be taken in context ..

He's playing for a top team against sh*t sides, more or less.

He's far more potent in attack than anything we have on the right hand side.

He's got outstanding experience at the very top level and provides us a cutting edge on the opposite side from Hazard.

I'm not saying it's a bad signing, and an upgrade on Cuadrado, yes, but will I be doing cartwheels? No.

I can't do cartwheels so that's a silly question.

Probably so. Don't know too much of the player but he looks pacy and skilled.

Db, would you say you rate pedro less or more then you rated fabregas a year ago

Less, definitely.

You're right, I was none-too-keen on Cesc's arrival, but that was mainly to do with history although I thought he was overrated.

I soon changed that view after his first few performances for us but I still think he can be a bit of a liability at times, even though that's not a popular view.

One fans opinion on who is likely to have the best chance to make meaningful contributions to our team.

There are 3 top notch right wingers available, reus, bale and sterling.. Actually the first two might not even be available. And we won't pay out for the 3rd. But not being able to get those doesn't mean we don't need to strengthen

Well I do think he's a better player than Oscar, but not a clear upgrade which is why I said provide competition. I also think he's one of very few wingers available who would be a great fit in our team. He's like Schurrle with better technique and defensive instincts.

I'm sure everyone would prefer to get a player that instantly makes a much better team. But who is that player?

On Pedro himself, been a while since the last Chelsea Barca game I saw him play against us. He is not up there with Neymar, Messi or Suarez but then very few are.

Sort of has a bit of Dennis Wise in him, in that he seems a bit of a cheeky sod. Effective at what he does, would offer more of a goal threat than anyone we have bar Hazard.

Would be an upgrade on what we have, but I understand people wanting a top of the tree player to join Hazard, but I do not think any of those are options.

I'm not sure what to think of this transfer. He's been in poor form for a while now (according to Barca fans). He's also a little diving prick. Can he handle the physicality of the league? It doesn't look like he has much strength on him, and he won't get any protection from the refs.

But who is he going to start ahead of with arguably the best attacking front three in Europe ahead of him?

Quality wingers are at a premium right now.

Salah, Marin, Moses, Cuadrado haven't been good enough.

This guy is easily a level above all of those and is exactly the type of player e should have targeted instead of the aforementioned wingers.

Given he might be £30m cheaper than Sterling and is a better player than him too it's got the potential to be a cracking transfer.

Yes, he'll be better than Cuadrado, he'll be better than Moses, he'll be better than Marin, he'll be better than Salah, but next summer we'll all be saying let's buy ourselves a top notch winger.

Put your house on it.

I'm personally a big fan of Willian (wasn't always the case) but I think he'll be playing the Iniesta role next season in a 433, with Hazard and one other either side of Costa.

If that other is Pedro, at least he'll have experience playing that system.

But not for a team who doesn't dominate the opposition like Barca, and not in the premier league. Two big questions to be answered.
