Who actually takes Metro seriously ? I have never seen them get a thing right, the only time they report anything real is when it's already been reported somewhere else. I don't know how they have any kind of reputation to be honest.

I bring this comment up because there's a piece of news in the Spanish newspaper As that says Mourinho wants Varane at ManU. The board has told him to f*** o** and he needs to sell 10 players first. But, the interesting thing is that at the beginning of the summer there were rumours that Varane was not happy at Real Madrid, although Zidane has told him that he counts with him and he will get regular playing time. Could Chelsea make an offer to cover our CB issues? It would be a nice move.

I have watched him play for Madrid many times but I don't think I will be excited if we sign him. I still prefer Christensen.

He's one of the best CB's in Europe and playing at the biggest club in the world.

I'd be beyond excited if we signed him but we have next to no chance.

Christensen is a promising young player with a great future ahead of him but Varane is streets ahead of him currently.

Won't take long for Christensen to catch up of he keeps playing every game, unlike Varane who despite being presently a better player, will be warming the bench for most of the season again.

To be fair he did play 26 games in La Liga (3 subs) and 7 in the CL. That's not really warming the bench and Pepe is 32/33 now so he will no doubt be playing more this season.

Zouma is coming back from injury, and Christensen has no recall, so isn't even part of the team right now.  Honestly, if Varane was available, we'd be foolish to not seriously consider it.

ManU has told Mourinho to keep dreaming and that they'd need to sell 10 players before they could go in for Varane.

Those mentioning Zouma and Christensen I guess are not worried about not getting Koulibaly or any other CB.

Again, it's all hypothetical.  I was merely pointing out that it would be foolish, should Varane be available, for us to not go for him solely based on "we have Zouma and Christensen."

 

Imagine having all three of them?  I think that's a 3-some (steady) that would last for years, it would allow Conte the flexibility of 3 at the back, and it would replace at the very least Terry and Ivan in the space of a season.
