John Stones

Every single Everton fan (who has convinced theirselves we're tapping up blah blah blah) should read that. Their outrage at this is down right embaressing considering what happened not that long ago on a more obvious and bigger scale.

Also, does it count as 'tapping up' if Cahill is asked about John Stones whilst on England duty? Is there a point where it changes to tapping up to complimenting a team mate? As soon as they join up for training or does it have to be in a tournament? Does a qualifier count? Does it have to he at home game at Wembley? "What do you think of John Stones, Gary? Broke into the Everton first team, has shown lots of potential and won the plaudits from his fellow professionals and the media alike..." "Sorry, can't answer that, it's the wrong to time to praise a fellow Englishman who I see train and work hard when we meet up, it's disrespectful to his club to offer an opinion on a colleague. Also those fellow professionals who have offered an opinion of him have BROKEN THE LAW AND ITS ILLEGAL."

Ah I see that link has been posted on the Everton forum with some just resulting in insults (usually the way most people react when they haven't got an answer) or trying to justify their/Martinez's actions and why it's different. I'd have thought some of them would have admitted defeat especially as the majority of the posters seemed decent.

Martinez suggested again yesterday that it was Chelsea who made the initial leak about the bid

"The whole John Stones situation has come through the media because a club made a bid and made it public."

Seen a few journos suggest that it was in fact Stones' agent who leaked the bid to the media.

You might be on to something .............

Was reading posts from the Everton forum "Grand Old Team" and 90% of the fans in that topic seemed decent and had the mental ability to convey their opinions on the situation without resorting in calling Chelsea scum etc... I still do like the fact they're certain, like they're privy to such information, that we "leaked" the bid, what possible reason would we have for doing so? That's paranoia... in an otherwise good topic.

I read somewhere Stones' agent leaked it.

Of course it wont, because they have realised they've been massive hypocrites last 2 week or so.  And rather than admit it, they'll resort to insults. You can bet your house, and your entire years wages, that IF we get Stones, they'll start to slag him off.   The "level headed, down to earth, boss lad who wont kick up a fuss, loves Everton and we love him" will become a "mercenary, scum, bench warming money grabber"

You sound so cynical....I love it. You know that will happen. They won't be genuinely pleased that they are part of the success story, nor do they realise that they forced Barnsley into selling their prized asset a few years back. Ironic.

The deal is a lot closer to completion than Everton will have you believe , "allegedly" the player is very keen to join us.

Interesting, thanks for sharing!

For those of you who are wondering if TBB is a WUM or playing silly buggers then I can assure you he's one of the long standing members who, I believe, was around in the old CSR days years and years ago. I'd say he's John Stones himself but he was probably posting on here before he was born...!!!

No, no! What's the Story, Morning Glory was Oasis not the Jam!

Love it. Very witty Madame Beerqueen.

Wait just read that back. I was just saying what's the story behind that in case you didn't know what I meant. If you were being witty, very good.

Thanks Gem . it's not a wind up but can't reveal my source as it would cause a lot of problems .

Your right I was on the old CSR from about 2001 .....still remember the letter Paul (who started the CSR forum way back ) got from Ken Bates when he offered to build him a website stating thanks but no thanks as it will never take off ............

I did know what you meant. I was being witty[emoji3]

Rumours about City and Utd chasing Godin.

29 years old, £30m being quoted.

No way would Atletico turn down that, given his age.

Utd I understand, they need experience at the back, even though they have a plethora of centre-backs.

With McNair, Blackett, Rojo, Smalling and Jones (as well as the older Evans), it would be strange to see them going after a young centre-back, although there's precious little quality in that list if they want to challenge for the title.

Godin makes perfect sense for them, although of course it's a risk.

City? They have Kompany (29) and Mangala (24), as well as Demichelis (34).

They appear to need a defender, although the money they've spent on Mangala you'd expect their intention is to partner him with Kompany, their captain.

£30m on another centre-back, furthermore one that is 29? That can only suggest they have no faith in Mangala, which would surprise me.

Stones would make more sense for them than Utd because they already have experienced centre-backs.

If they are after Godin, I can only think it's for a younger, better version of Demichelis.

If the path is clear for us for Stones I'm happy, but if he stays at Everton this term and has a great season it won't be clear for us again, so we should take this opportunity and bid big, come in with the big bid and get this deal done, no more faffing about.

The word is he wants the move, the signs are that Everton have reconciled themselves to the likelihood of it happening, they know we're not going away, so now we should show them the colour of our money, because that's what they'll want to see.

Who cares if we pay over the odds? I don't. He's young and English and he was always going to cost a premium and Everton are reluctant sellers. We've made him our only big target this summer, we've done very well in the transfer market since Jose returned, and we're minted, so I think we should just bite the bullet on this one and make sure we clinch the deal.

Godin is outstanding. Even at 29, he will dramatically improve any team that sign him. Never been blessed with outstanding pace yet always fairs well against some of the fastest players On the planet. Light years ahead of the error prone Kompany and any of the Man Utd diddies.

I really hope this doesn't happen.

Looks like he's staying at Atletico.

Great news. He's the closest defender to JT on the planet. His reading of the game is unreal. Not quite as good as JT though.

Hope Watford beats them, time for Everton to get a reality check :) Wouldn't hurt if Martinez get sacked in the season either, tired of him contradicting himself.
