Agreed, if he goes anywhere we'd like it to be here, but I can't see either Manchesters offering more than us, so maybe he'll be static for a while longer. We have a strong squad and there are rumours we also have others in our sight.

I think Everton saw our initial bid as 'insulting', much like our first Modric one. There's starting low and negotiating but I do think, on the current market, £20m was far too low... Just my opinion.

I wouldn't read too much into the "we won't pay over £29m"... I think we'll go as high as £35m - the cost difference is 'only' an extra £500,000 per season (assuming Stones stays with us for the next 13 years).

Martinez was asked about Stones today and the Echo had a article on it.  It doesn't come across as a "not going anywhere" type article though.
