What other top 3 team has had the fixtures we've had to this start of the season? We haven't faced any relegation fodder or any team who, in my opinion, will finish below top 10 (barring maybe west brom) so it's not been a run of comfortable fixtures. We have faced two top 4 teams (one away from home) already and 3 teams (including away at everton which is always tough away game) who may well be challenging for europa league spots.

Newcastle have been our kryptonite for the last couple seasons and west brom has always been a hard place to go to, so to get 4 points from those two fixtures is positive. We'll have a run of fixtures now that should be and are, winnable. I think people are being overly pessimistic for no reason really, it isn't a great start, but it's by no means that bad considering the teams we've faced already.

Sorry mate but that really is clutching at straws.

We are CHAMPIONS. Whatever the run of fixtures, we SHOULD be doing better. It has been a dreadful start - lets not pretend otherwise.

Is "ya" a subtle way of being insulting?  Or is it just a way to save a nano-second by using two letters instead of three?

Either way, it makes the post sound aggressive (to me, I hasten to add, lest it cause offence to "ya" users)

He wrote "lil" somewhere instead of "little" as well, so I'm imagining a Deep South drawl here. I'm just waiting for that good old "y'all" when addressing his fanbase here.

Oh hold on, is he really Dolly Parton, ya think?

Define "northener"..to me it means anything north of Inverness!  And they definitely don't say YA!

Haha!  fairly recently, I expect!!

Another new, anti, doom merchant.

I maybe fairly new on this website, but have been supporting Chelsea for forty five years and attending regularly since the start of 1978. I am not all doom and gloom, seen a lot of poor Chelsea teams down the years.

My point is I wouldn't take any notice of the opinions of most ex players in the media, there are exceptions but most of them dont say anything that I can't see for myself.

“I look for consistency. If we don’t find it, we become a Newcastle. Everyone knows when Newcastle play Chelsea they play amazingly well but against other teams, not so well. This happens with most of the teams whose objective is to stay between eighth and 16th in the league. They win today, draw tomorrow, three points here, one point there. But when you want to be a big team and to win you have to be consistent in your attitude. At this moment it’s difficult to win the Premier League, but possible. It’s difficult to win the Champions League, but possible. It’s difficult to win the cups, but possible. I’ve explained to the players that when the situation is open, I have to try and prepare the kids for their future and, at the same time, bring the best out of the players with more experience.

“But if the season becomes ‘closed’ and we can’t win trophies, I will go just with the kids instead. It makes no sense to play the older players when you have nothing to win. There can be a moment where I will look to the kids and say: ‘Let’s go, non-stop.’ I am ruthless. But at the moment, everything is open.”

Time for the players to back it up.

Why the dig at Newcastle basically calling them sh*t and only turning it on against Chelsea? It's nothing we don't know but no need to make a thing about it. For the media just looks like Mourinho deflecting away from the situation again.

I actually sited that as being a defence against the legal action of said staff or to prove just cause for dismissal in the face of a constructive dismissal suit. Plus it's defending the club and not the man as its the club that will be named in any possible suit and not Mourinho. I suggest you keep reading my posts until you get better at this deep twisted manner talent you claim I have.

Yes, Mourinho averages a league title with this club at a rate better than 1 title per every 2 seasons..... and you want him sacked because you don't think he is good enough for the job?

And now for my next trick I show how you contradict yourself to attack Mourinho....

Yet

So correct me if I'm twisting but doesn't that seem you are slating the team for not being built well enough to handle all the brick wall defence we see in the BPL, yet when the club failed to address many of the obvious holes in the squad, you don't think the board let Mourinho down?

I have no doubt that if Mourinho had gotten half the backing that either of the Manchester managers got, we'd be top the table right now. Thing is Mourinho won a double to earn that vote of confidence, after making a profit and overhauling the squad..... I'd say he was let down if the expectation was to dominate the league again and make any serious threat on a European Cup.

I just fail to see how you can see the problems with the squad but not feel Mourinho was let down. Might be one of the best squads in the world but you'd easily argue there are 3 squads in the BPL alone that are at about the same level to the point that they win if they are on their game andour lads are not,and one that is most likely even better than ours. Or simply put, our rivals improved whilst our club pretty much replaced departures and getting a down grade in return almost every time... unless you think Begovic better than Cech and Baba beer than Luis.

Ya obviously have that talent and uses it well in suggesting I contradicted myself.. It's hardly a secret on how Jose's team is built and by that definition, it's the way how he set up his team to play which is counter attacking footie aka lesser possession footie.. notice  I used 'Jose's team' not the term ya're looking for in this case which is 'Chelsea's team' .  This chelsea's team is actually more technical than grit so had them not being handcuffed so much by the manager trademark tactic, they should be able to handle a brick wall with ease...

Again, regarding the board's backing in transfer market, ya're just crying out loud for excuse for that man.. City pretty much only bought sterling, otamendi and kdb, they paid over the odd and apart from kdb, I don't really rate the other 2, I don't see how's that an overly huge backing for the manager by their board compared to ours.. Our board did bring in pedro, begovic, falcao, and baba.. The 1st 2 are earning their money, they're performing.. as for falcao? whose idea again to get him in the 1st place? another proof of the backing by the board to the manager?  Sure, we didn't bring in that many but should the board being forgiven in thinking the club doesn't need as much reinforcements as the other chasing packs? It's only logical.. It doesn't make sense anyway to spend a fortune on the champion..

The other manchester club, the red one.. in a hindsight, it's a great backing however that's because it's an average side to begin with in the 1st place.. Their era is over..

AVB was the highest rated manager in Europe at the time having had an unbeaten domestic season in Portugal and becoming the youngest ever manager to WI a a major European tournament.....his team won everything they competed in that year.

Ps you claimed that Mourinho is incapable of attacking football ( or along those lines) yet are you aware of which manger resided over the team who currently holds the La Liga scoring record? Also holds the most points record in La Liga ( BPL too).

So to adapt a common poker saying, I guess with Mourinho's luck he doesn't have to be good....

That rave on AVB, ya're sure it's not your own personal view? I fail to see how cruising in a portugese league and winning europa league suddenly put him among the elites..

And that la liga scoring record is a surprise but maybe not.. Jose couldn't fully had it his own way over there hence the breakdown of the relationship not too mention it's la liga after all..

If most madrid fans claiming they don't fancy jose's style then there must more than meets the eye regarding that record..

You can't say the board was content with last years squad and are justified in not backing Mourinho for more players while at the same time claiming the problems were clear to see last season and it's Mourinho's fault they haven't been addressed.

You can say City only brought in three players and we brought in four but you're being a bit flippant, no?

Three of Chelsea transfers were simply replacing out going players with what many would consider to be inferior players. Begovic might be performing but I suspect many would still rather have Cech. Put it this way, the board backed Cech this summer more than they backed the manager. One reinforcement was brought in and it was a last minute steal from under MUFCs nose and a reaction to the poor start that had already happened, let's not forget that fact.

All of Man City purchases were upgrades and competition for starting spots and they got most of them done fairly early so they could settle.

Chelsea spent a net of well under 30million. City spent a net of over 100million. I guess the board stopped paying attention because that should of been a clear signal that the 8 point gap of last season, which was a bit flattering considering how the end of the season finished, was becoming moot.

Ps that finished red team from manchester, they are sitting in first place at the moment. Just thought you should know. Amazing what some fresh talent can do....

If you don't think AVB was highly rated then I'm just going to come out and say the obvious. Clearly you are not, or were not, a Chelsea fan at the time. While many Chelsea fans might of disagreed with his reputation, not a single person following Chelsea would of been unaware of his reputation as the hottest young manager at the time. The new Mourinho but with more flair. It was plastered on all the headlines and the excitement in the club was highest it had been since winning the first double.

You really struggle to try and deny Mourinho any credit. Carlo won the most goals ever in the BPL with Chelsea yet couldn't replicate the feat in La Liga with the near exact same team as Mourinho did it with....Why couldn't he even beer it then?

Are you talking about the same Madrid fans who have booed every player ever to put on their shirt, every manager to ever sit in their dugout? Yes, they are always right. Ronaldo and Bale are trash too, I'm sure you agree.

It's only logical.. It doesn't make sense anyway to spend a fortune on the champion..

.............speechless at that logic ...........just speechless..........might as well just ask Apple to close their campus in the US and development department as you don't need to improve on a market leading brand to stay there at the top ............

Ya came into conclusion that I didn't know about what he achieved back in portugal just because I don't rate him among the elites? maybe cruising in a protugesese league and winning europa league are enough to convince ya and some others but not me ..  It's also laughable on how ya trying to connect that with 'not being a chelsea fan.'.

As for your second statement, flip the coin, carlo can't do what jose did, jose can't do what carlo did so what's the point?

The last statement is obiously exaggeration and petty, smack out of desperation I might add...

Then ya must be suggesting to keep spending a fortune every single season regardless on whether club needs it or not.. sensible thought of the club well being that in fincancial fair play era..

Well clearly the club did need it, otherwise we wouldn't be sitting 14th after 7 games.

No one is suggesting spending money for the sake of it but even the best teams constantly invest in their side so as not to stagnant with the goal being to continually improve and evolve as a side.

That's why Barca have dropped around £150m on Neymar and Suarez in the last few years.

That's why Bayern Munich dropped £40m on Vidal this summer.

Chelsea have just signed a £40m per year shirt sponsorship deal. We have a £30m per year kit manufacturing deal. Only Manchester United have better deals in the Premier League... Throw on top the new improved TV deal money and it's not like we're exactly scratching around the back of the sofa for some change to make signings.

The money is there but for whatever reason the club failed to invest properly in the squad and we are undoubtedly worse off for it.

who did city buy again? they way ya go about it as if ya got different information than mine.. I'm also quite baffled on the 'Replacing part', as if it only happened at chelsea.. Where are dzeko, milner, jovetic now?

Just because other paid over the odd doesn't mean we have to just so that your man can have an easy ride..

Then ya must be suggesting to keep spending a fortune every single season regardless on whether club needs it or not.. sensible thought of the club well being that in fincancial fair play era..

I wasn't suggesting that at all , the point you made was "It doesn't make any sense to spend a fortune on the champion " the squad clearly needed upgrading and replacements found in key areas , the quality we need are not cheap . If last season squad were all under 23 and injury free I doubt we would have the need to buy anyone but that's not football ............
