Posted February 2, 20169 yr How do we all think we done considering we are closer to the bottom of the league than the top? Pato (loan) and Miazia in. Ramires and djibingjig (loan) out Is this one of our worst ever windows in recent memory?
February 2, 20169 yr I was expecting anything more tbh. I don't want to see us buying players without a permanent manager in charge. We don't need signings to save our season, it's not gonna get any worse, but it is beyond saving unless we somehow win the champions league. We got a great price for ramires, let's invest it in the summer, when prices arent as outrageous, more players will be on the market, and hopefully we have a clearer direction of where we want to go.
February 2, 20169 yr won't know unless pato and miazga start playing. we can assess it then. we've spent very, very little and made a very good profit on two players so that's a big plus. Edited February 2, 20169 yr by enigma
February 2, 20169 yr Author What players though? We all know United and City will be spending big to rebuild their sides for their respective managers. You would have to think the best players who are on the move will be looking to those clubs before a team with no CL. No matter if it's January or August we are going to have to pay huge money to prize any decent player away because we cant offer them what other clubs can anymore.
February 2, 20169 yr Thought it was a good window. Offloaded Ramires who has never really been a first team regular and was no doubt on big wages. Means RLC gets a chance to impress for the rest of the season and there's a ready made place in the squad should the new manager want to reinforce the midfield when they arrive. Remy and Falcao's continual injuries have meant there's been little cover or competition for Costa all season, Pato provides that now but again doesn't commit long term so the new manager can make changes up front. JT not being given a new contract and the signing of Miagza again means foundations are there for changes to the defence come the summer but the new manager will be able to influence those changes. Basically this window acknowledged that the season is a write off but we've not hit the panic button looking for a quick fix and instead laid the groundwork for a restructure during the summer which can be overseen by the new manager.
February 2, 20169 yr Selling Ramires was a great bit of business but it leaves us light in experienced players when we still need them, especially if we have aspirations to do well in Europe. I think the club has admitted that it doesn't. Â Problem is that the summer transfer window was a massive failure so there's not much we could expect to fix in January. Pato might turn out good but it's still a gamble whilst Miazga is more likely than not going to be sold for a marginal profit. January is a tough time to sign players though so I wasn't expecting much and despite being in a worse position right now we've got a bit more to spend in summer. Â Although I doubt we'll do that.
February 2, 20169 yr We made some money. We made some space for Ruben to play and we have a joker-card in Pato. I think it was okay. Our bad position in the table is not because we lack quality. We really couldn't buy anyone to really strengthen us. Miazga is a complete unknown for me.

Excellent post.
February 2, 20169 yr Well that was a completelly underwhelming window, and don't expect the summer to be full of Platinum and diamond recruits, lack of CL is going to massively impact our ability to attract, let alone hold onto to some stars!!!!!

February 3, 20169 yr I think you undervalue how much players enjoy making tons of money  Do we have the ability to pay them tons of money?
February 3, 20169 yr Do we have the ability to pay them tons of money? Â I don't see why we wouldn't. We could offer more than most clubs anyway. I don't see salary being an obstacle to signing the players we may want. Â Missing out on the CL money may change this a little but I'm under the impression Chelsea Football Club can afford to spend around 90m in player transfers and salaries every summer.

February 3, 20169 yr Link to what we spend\ Â From there you just have to do the math, we're at about 300m in revenue. That will only continue to go up. The PL broadcasting deal in the short term, and then the new stadium which will bring in at least 50m extra every season.

Unfortunately that doesn't include anything about the financing of the new stadium. If that is what is limiting our spending then I don't see that changing for the next few years and I think we're not going to be offering the top talent 'tons of money'.

If that is what is limiting our spending then I don't see that changing for the next few years and I think we're not going to be offering the top talent 'tons of money'.  Roman is paying that out of pocket which means it won't likely effect what the club can spend but it will mean Roman is unlikely to dip into his extra pockets if we need added funding or get a large fine for breaking FFP, so we most likely will only be allowed to spend within our means and that is more than sufficient to sign any single player we wanted monetary wise probably not a multi player splurge like the £200-300m transfer list Pep apparently has but we could easily finance £100-150m in spending and staying within FFP current rules with a few players going the other way. Â
February 3, 20169 yr   The purchase of Pogba will cost around £30m a season with regard to FFP, if we place the transfer fee as around £80m (£16m a year) with a five year contract of around £250,000 a week(£13m a year), which isn't too far from a realistic purchase. This is easily offset by the sale of Cuadrado so that's £15m (currently on the books at around £10m a season) and the sale of Salah which is already agreed £10m (on the books at £5m a year) and the sale of one more fringe player a Moses for around £10m (On the books at £3m a year) and would actually be positive in terms of FFP by £23m for that first season and would then only increase our yearly spend by £12m, again easily remedied. or Even the sale of Ramires or Mikel who would be made surplus by the purchase could take place and bring in an extra £10-15m each whilst reducing the wage bill by around £80,000 a week (£4m a year) each Others sources and forum members have linked Oscar with leaving most likely to Juventus. If this were done in a Swap the deal looks more like £15m a season. Which when you introduce the increase in shirt sales and increased following due to signing a big name isn't that much to deal with. So yes the club is in a very solid position financially as we have a lot of assets already in the squad or on the fringes, so we really do not need to start selling our important assets/player to stay healthy. For instance a post I made a month and half ago

Nice reply though.
February 3, 20169 yr Biggest waste of time ever, they really should either cancel the winter transfer window or makes it shorter. It's obvious we aren't doing any serious business until we sort out the next manager, which I think it's a wise move

Nice reply though. How much do you want us to spend every season? My god, one summer of 'only' 50m and suddenly we are tightwads?
