Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Purchasing him would fix the mistake we made with selling Kevin de Bruyne though... And there is hope given he refused contract talks so it looks like he wants to force through a transfer.

Yeah it was a mistake to sell KDB when we won the title and league cup the following season. I swear people need to let this go. Aswell as the fact we got good money for a player who wasn't performing greatly for us at the time.

I think part of the reason this is mentioned a lot is due to the amoubt of stick he got when he left. Some people acted like he wasnt any good and was never Chelsea quality. I mean I seem to recall someone here comparing him to Voronin for Christ sake. You are right though, we really need to let it go. Whats past is past and while we surely would be a better team today if we kept him, theres no guarantee we would have won the league last year. Butterfly effect and all

Yeah exactly

Of course he's a very good player but people act like there aren't others as good or even better. The way people constantly bring him and Lukaku up has become tiring. We went on to win two trophies without them for all we know we may not have win anything with them.

WAGNH indicating that us and arsenal want him and kane but both would rather go to North London for cl football.

i think you meant Kante

if this is true, we better win this "transfer battle". getting Xhaka Vardy Mkhitaryan AND Kante in one window would be huge for them

Yeah auto correct got that one.

Yup gunners would have a great window if true.

Real shame if vardy and kante leave the foxes though. Should stay one more year. Be the players to take them in to the CL.

So how many midfielders does Wenger actually want?

Well apparently a lot now there list of CMs is Coquelin, Elneny, Xhaka, Ramsey, Wilshere and Carzola, for effectively 2 positions it is a bit stacked wouldn't be surprised if a couple were leaving especially if Kante is joining there ranks.

You would also imagine that another defensive minded midfielder such as Kante doesn't really fit into that dynamic with Coquelin Elneny and Xhaka already filling that role.

He had one year left on his contract so not sure that amount is a small fee. Not really too sure about him as he was awful in his first season with them, and turned it round this season. Will UTD fans & Jose be patient with him if he doesn't hit the ground running? I think his best position is just behind the front man, but they already have Rooney who will be more effective there.

Rooney will no doubt be played further back than that

.

When people like Sterling are moving for £50 odd million half of that for a far better footballer is a great deal whatever way you look at it.

He's been pretty good at Dortmund and has been there for 3 seasons, I wouldn't say he was ever awful for them tbh. In his first season he made it into the team of the season in the bundusliga. His second season was hampered with injuries and last season he was Germany's player of the season.

He's clearly a very good player and for the money it's a bargain.

I guess we were never in for him, which is a shame. Waiting for Chelsea to make signings is like slow torture.

you know what bothers me? we were (and still are) linked with Giacchereni/Candreva, yet we let United easily and cheaply buy Mkhitaryan

Such a small fee too.

He will be a cracking player for them, would be a huge upgrade on Oscar but sadly we don't seem too busy on the transfer front.

Or maybe because Conte in his managerial career has never played 4231 and sees on point in bringing in another 10.

Also one has to wonder why the likes of Bayern, Psg, City and likes aren't falling all over their feet for him given his sterling season, maybe just maybe they have watched him enough to think it was a one season thing.

It wasn't though unless you missed his first season at the club?

You do realise he's been excellent in 2 of his 3 seasons right?

I stand corrected mate but then again you have to wonder why he hasnt joined a better team till now and given Dortmund will never pay off the debt owed to Bayern, shouldn't he have joined them by now?

I guess it's just a lazy journalism that we're constantly being linked with all these players from italian clubs, but you have to wonder if Conte actually rates anyone who's not plying his trade in Serie A.

His second season probably put people off because they were unsure if he would return the same player after the recurring injuries. After last season it's clear his class has remained.

Dortmund are a strange club guys like Reus stay for years when you think they could probably move to a bigger club

Don't think he looked all that great under Klopp personally, which makes his transfer to a United team managed by Jose a bit strange as they both require hard work defensively. Wasn't until he was given freedom last season that he really excelled so I will agree with the one great season comment to an extent.
