Keep waiting for this tournament to spark into life...just not happening.

It seemed to spring to life at the end of the group stage. Unfortunately that turned out to be an island in the sea of boring sh*t rather than reaching the mainland. I have a feeling the best we can hope for is large islands. Add to that the fan problems, and you've got (so far) the worst international tournament in recent memory.

I've been watching the Copa America, and there seems to be a distinct difference in playing style between the two hemispheres. The Copa America has been breakneck speed and lots of attack. Teams are fearless. Every game has had at least one team play an attacking game. I wonder if the last World Cup would have been so exciting if not for the presence of the Western hemisphere teams.

What a missed opportunity for Croatia. They had the team to get to the final, they just didn't turn up today.

Croatia paid for a lack of ambition. Not enough urgency in their play tonight,too happy to play the ball across the back. They played their final against Spain. As for Portugal ,Renato Sanchez looks a player.

Portugal have been one of the worst sides, they will probably get to the final now.

Ronaldo gutted that he didn't score himself.

As every game passes England become more pissed off we didn't win that group.

Wildly unfair I feel. In three games England have moved the ball with more tempo, skill, intent and creativity than Portugal. And they have retained possession better.

What they haven't done is make the possession pay and finish the chances created.

This is a young England side playing the best football in a major finals since 1996. Don't cane them for it.
