June 26, 201610 yr Oh well. No shame going out against France in the knockout stage after putting up a good fight. Heads held high. France have been underwhelming despite the victory and a dominant second half. Come to think of it, every team has been underwhelming this tournament. Based on the Copa America matches, Argentina and Chile would slaughter, and I mean slaughter, every team in the tournament. Edited June 26, 201610 yr by offside
June 26, 201610 yr Massively disappointed, but there's no shame in the defeat. We were always going to be up against it and I think we've done ouselves proud
June 26, 201610 yr Agreed Ireland and Northern Ireland have done themselves proud (as i desperately spend the day on ansestry.com seeing if there is anyway I can apply for an Irish passport

It's a lot different playing in the Copa America than it is the European Championships.
June 26, 201610 yr No they wouldn't. It's a lot different playing in the Copa America than it is the European Championships. Have you been watching? Chile and Argentina have put up some of the best attacking performances I've ever seen from any national team. (I've seen far less than many members here.) I can't see any defensive line in Euros being able to contain their constant onslaught and keep up with they're pace. Unlike Euros where normally great scorers and great teams have underperformed, the Chileans and Argentinians are performing at or above their ability. Edited June 26, 201610 yr by offside
June 26, 201610 yr Bad luck Ireland. Just a little outclassed in the end but it's been a great tournament for them overall.
June 26, 201610 yr I have a feeling that Slovakia will sit deep like they did against us and try and grind something out. In other words....dull.
June 26, 201610 yr Barring we don't slip on a banana skin against Iceland what do u think our chances are against the French...
June 26, 201610 yr That's the difference between England and Germany. Against defensive sides, Germany will keep putting pressure on and take shots. England just walked around with the ball when they played Slovakia.
June 26, 201610 yr you have kroos and muller and you pick the arsenal player to take it really joachim, really
June 26, 201610 yr That pitch looks pretty poor. I was going to say the same, but i think i prefer it this way. I don't know about anyone else, but these perfect pitches with their slippery grass doesn't do it for me anymore. The ball just zips across the pitch and we end up with too many passes going out of play. The ball sticks more on these roughed up pitches.
June 26, 201610 yr If things continue like this then i can see Germany scoring a few more goals, they are playing really well.
