I'm just tired of reading sensationalist posts that aren't constructive. I have criticised aspects of the board or club on many occasions on this forum but I'll always try to fully explain why. Throw away one liners about the club being laughable or a disgrace or whatever aren't tiresome though.

August 31, 20169 yr I do agree there is now a snobbery towards players who arent very well known. I find it even more staggering when this snobbery is aimed at defenders, as the only big name defender we have signed is cole, and possibly ricky. We have had huge success with relatively cheap defenders. I think alonso will turn out to be a quality signing, and id rather not spend massive amounts on a defender unless you are signing a world class player.
August 31, 20169 yr The relatively recent success of this club, the blame culture in society and the ridiculous amount of money being spent in football has created a new type of fan. Years ago the fans used to talk about the tac-tics, who was the best team and ,to be honest, about the violence. Maybe some of the anger attached to football comes out in different ways now.

I take it that you were similarly optimistic with Papy and hector. I hope Alonso comes good but it is obvious he was never our first choice and there is probably a reason for that.

Lets look at other evidences, Ake was loaned out ages ago, Baba was loaned out ages ago. We had no recognized LB in the squad. We went 3 weeks into the season without a LB with no rumors what so ever except for the last 3/4 days with Alonso and complete the signing on the deadline day. Cant see how he was plan A of Conte.

Just let Alonso play in a decent run of games first before judging him. I'm certain that Conte has monitored him long enough to deem him good enough to be a part of our squad. Totally agree. We won't know how he fits in till hes given a run of games. Not all players are an absolute world beater from 17 to 35, a team/squad needs your consistent squad players to fill the gap amongst the 'stars' From the vague bits in remember he was half decent when last in the country and may well have developed and improved.
August 31, 20169 yr Twitter is far worse, but I agree players are written off before people have seen them play, I do think there's an overreaction to simple opinions on players though. I fail to see what's wrong with questioning if a certain player is needed in the squad or if we can't do better in the market, it's not as if doing that is pretending to be a scout. I think our business has been pretty good though personally, but you can't seriously moan about people bashing the board when we've been left with two strikers, they loan players out without any idea who, if anyone is coming in, hardly ideal.
