July 9, 20179 yr It's a BS rumour because Dortmund's president/CEO confirmed some weeks back that they'd demand £63m from whoever's interested. Why then would we bid £71m for him? Nonsense. Especially when we can get much younger strikers (Belotti, Morata) on the market for that amount.

'We will listen to it when a club is willing to show its appreciation for Aubameyang in a financial way as well,' Watzke told Bild. 'If an official bid were to reach more than £63million, it would have to be reported as a necessary to proceed. This has not happened so far.' July 10, 20179 yr He's a poacher player, a fantastic goalscorer no doubt, but most of his goals have come from fantastic play by dortmund's supporting players and Aubameyang with the tap in to finish it off. He has a great goalscoring instinct, and if he were to come here i think he'd score plenty of goals for us, but his link up play leaves a lot to be desired, and considering we play quite a fluid front three, I don't know would he be the right fit. Belotti would be better in my eyes, but at this point we just need to get a striker on board.

He is more like a Torres type of striker, which i think won`t work with our style and type of play. This guys, they can hold the ball well, their control is great, and they can make the team game. They also have great distance shot, they lure defenders and make free space for the "taran" type of striker, like Costa/Lukaku. I don`t see and think Aubameyang fit any of this 2 role. He is demanding striker, like Torres, and the team need to be build arround him. And for the 2 strikers in front. I don`t think we will go for that system. Mainly because Hazard. In 3/4/3 or 4/4/2(diamond, like 2009) i don`t see where Hazard can`t fit. He is not good for second striker, cause hes shots is not good enough, esp. his distance shots. In 4/4/2 you are going to play with 2 wide midfielders. And they need to constatnly go back to help the defence. 3/4/3 is perfect for Hazard. He have more of a free role to play and can go wide or cut inside and lure defenders and left huge space for the wingback. Maybe 4/2/4 will suit him good, but atleast to me this is too offensive system to play and will lose even more in defence then 3/4/3. People just don't seem to understand you can't just buy a striker that scores a shed loads for another team if he dosnt fit your system I like aubam but he would be a flop here

The clubs that they have played for (Inter barca vs BVB) is far more indicative in my opinion (Inter were a power house back then). I am not doubting Auba's quality. Just dont feel he is Etoo level (which was world class in his prime)
July 10, 20179 yr No no, not eto'o level. Eto'o in his prime was one of the top strikers of his era. I do rate him though and think he would be a good option. Been thinking between him, Belotti and morata and who would work best, Auba's speed and finishing whilst running at speed would compliment us on the counter the best, Belotti is a beast in the air, has a keen finish from close range and can just about shrug off anyone trying to tackle him, so would be a great outlet, morata will prob link up best with our wide players, but prob wont score as much. Belotti would be the easiest transition, most similar to Costa, but with better ball control and less antics.
July 10, 20179 yr Sadly Tourino's President Urbano Cairo is cut from the same cloth as Napoli's President Aurelio De Laurentiis both are nightmares to deal with, so don't expect any help in buying Belotti... Edited July 10, 20179 yr by doctorblue
July 11, 20179 yr According to Sky we have been offered this guy for between £60 and £70 million by Dortmund. 18 goals in 23 games in Champions League last two years, 31 Bundesliga goals the season that was. Surely we have to look at it?
July 11, 20179 yr Of the three mentioned he would be the last I would jump on. Others have posted reasons why and I agree with them. I would like Morata as 1a and Belotti as 1b. I think they both could contribute more than auba...

Strikers like these are cut from the same cloth as Torres and after that pace is gone there isn't much else. Would be better as a Pedro replacement but at 70m-ish with huge wages is not something to go for
July 11, 20179 yr Sign Aubameyang, let him kill it for a few seasons and then slowly integrate Tammy or another young striker with great potential into the team and let them lead
