July 13, 20179 yr Would be shocked if the fee is actually €40m and we along with City and Barca don't match it and at least try to tempt him. Italians like Italy and with good reason but at least give him the option.
July 13, 20179 yr Last summer maybe, but this summer I'm sure all the rumours about Bonucci and Chelsea were bullsh*t. I'm sure we never made an enquiry let alone put in a bid. Those of you keen for him to come, tell me this, what would you do with David Luiz? David Luiz was top-notch last season and made the PFA Team of the Year. Conte may well choose to make him skipper this season. Rudiger wasn't bought because we couldn't sign Bonucci. They play different positions in a 3. Remember we also have Christensen, who we'll lose if he doesn't get significant minutes, and who has the skillset to deputise for Luiz as well as compete for the other 2 spots. In other words we're not buying any more centre-backs.
July 13, 20179 yr And before anyone asks how I know all this stuff, it's because I'm a football agent, so shut up.
July 13, 20179 yr I am reading that his family didn't want to leave Italy, so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. Remember how Crespo performed when his family wanted to be back in Italy. I think he was flying home once a week to be with them. Great signing for Milan. But I don't think we really "needed" him, as great as he is.
July 13, 20179 yr His son has some sort of illness. He'd have to transfer to a location that is close to a good hospital/medical team for him to even consider to move.

July 14, 20179 yr really gutted. He was sold way below his value to a direct competitor. I would have preferred him going abroad but he probably refused destinations outside Italy for family reasons. Still it is not clear to me why the club accepted to loose at least 15 million while strengthening a competitor. At face value terrible decision making and it is not the first time we sell poorly. The club has been amazing at scouting and buying good values over the past years but often very poor at selling. Another huge question mark is why Bonucci decided to leave for an inferior team, while being a leader at Juve. Rumours are that there was a fallout with the manager and some teammates. In any event very bad news for us.
July 14, 20179 yr Thanks b&wlegends. Does seem odd and had non football reasons at play. I can't imagine the club will want to anger the base further by selling Sandro. Must be a dead deal now. (And doesn't seem like you really need Matic.)

I think that's correct we are fine at CB and people forget we have been looking at rudiger for a while, he is better than he gets credit for, and I agree luiz for captain as I think GC will eventually lose his place to rudiger. I was asked my thoughts on selling matic due to lack of cover, I think we will get someone in if we sell, but also because luiz is covered by Christensen he could cover CM in an emergency allowing us to promote someone like baker as our 4th CM in the squad, also filling up a HG spot what's your thoughts?

Yup, Luiz can cover in midfield that's true, although I think that would be a last resort for Conte. Matic will go and we'll probably bring someone in but who? Whoever comes knows they're only coming in as cover, so it'll be a squad filler, unless Baker stays and he takes that spot, but I find that unlikely, as he won't get many games and surely a loan to another Premiership club would serve him better. Is Baker a central midfielder anyway? Do you know? Edit: Right now we have 5 central defenders none of whom are left-footed. We only have Alonso at LWB and we're short of cover in midfield. Maybe we should put in a bid for Ake at Bournemouth? Edited July 14, 20179 yr by Davey Baby

Maybe we should put in a bid for Ake at Watford? Haha yes ake looks like at the least perfect cover right now. I believe Baker is a CM dont know that much about him other than Jose said if he fails to reach the England senior squad under his management he has failed him. We have 5 right footed CB's but tbh other than ake who didn't really play I can't remember the last time we had a left footed CB, luiz however is completely 2 footed so at this point he is a key key player, must keep him fit. Also in a back 3 do you think it's less important to have a left footed CB as the LCB will not be in as many one on ones that he can get beaten down the line on his weak foot without having the central of the 3 covering as luiz did for Garry last season, if it was I think they would play luiz on the left who has more of a LF, in general I don't think the foot matters that much in a central position.

Why ? at least they have a history of achievements to look back on, what about fans of other clubs that have seen very little success for their club ? If anything, i would say fans of other clubs deserve this a lot more than AC Milan's fans. I do find the reaction to Milan's takeover to be a bit hypocritical really, not from you but from football fans in general. When us, City and PSG were taken over by billionaires, i didn't see a happy reaction from football fans, we were accused of killing football. Milan get taken over though and its mostly positive. What makes AC Milan so different ?
July 14, 20179 yr Good business for Juve. Cashing in on Bonucci for 40m and making space in the team for Rugani, think they would of preferred it if he had left Italy though.

Yeah, but Bonucci has a son with an illness. I don't think he'll uproot his family for 2-3yrs with that in mind
