Whilst I do understand that the World Club Cup is not a fixture/trophy that captures the wider public's imagination, I am even now still aggravated that we lost to Corinthians. Not many clubs can say that we 'we're World Champions' and if you're going to go to the trouble of winning the European Cup, you might as well go and pick up the WCC trophy as well. And I'm pretty sure we are the only European side not to have won it in over the last 10 years.

Correct. We're the only European side in the last 10 years to lose in the final unfortunately.

Though it was commonplace in the 2000s for Non-Europeans clubs to win the competition. This consists of:

  • 2000 = Corinthians defeated Vasco da Gama (Real Madrid finished 4th).
  • 2005 = Sao Paulo defeated Liverpool.
  • 2006 = Internacional defeated Barcelona.

don't forget that in the International Cup, the South American sides had some success as well - Remember when Boca Jrs. defeated AC Milan back in 2003? If not, checkout the highlights:

Watched a bit of Everton v Arsenal, looks like Arsenal playing 3 CBs with Luiz at LCB.

Defending ok though can't hold possession over the half way line, Everton more dominant.

Arsenal should have scored just before HT against the run of play, Martinelli on the break.

0-0 so far.

Carlo watching and sitting between the directors.

I've seen some bad games of footy in my time but this one is taking the preverbial biscuit.

That first half was beyond bad.

one of the worst games I've seen for a long time. both these sides are in need of a major overhaul.

In the first half Everton were physical almost bullying except for one Arsenal player, Luiz.

Certainly throwing his weight around with clever use of his body and shoulders. Perhaps lucky not to be carded, IMO.

Was it a penalty or did Sterling fool the officials?

I don't tkink Chelsea would be given that kind of pen, but it was a contact and Sterling made the best of it
