February 21, 20206 yr Quote Im not sure what I enjoyed most, Spuds getting ruined in the first half or Jermaine Jenas stuttering and blubbering over his words in disbelief at what was happening?

May 17, 20206 yr Laughing at Spuds back in 1987. Half their team wearing a shirt with their sponsors logo on it and the other half with plain 'logo less' shirts. Then losing to Coventry City !

If I remember correctly, some of the players including Richard Gough objected to having a beer company being advertised on their shirts. Not long after Gough moved to a bigger and more successful club. I am, of course, biased.

I wonder if moving to a bigger club changed his mind. I think Dundee United refused to sell Gough to Rangers so he had to move south to Spurs as a stop gap. He was a great player at Rangers.

Jim McLean Dundee Utd manager was 'in the huff' about his assistant manager Walter Smith going from Dundee Utd to Rangers. Smith moved as the assistant manager to Graeme Souness. So McLean refused to sell Gough to Rangers. He went to Spuds for £650,000 or so. In Oct 87. Rangers paid Spuds £1.5 Million for Gough and I think he made his Rangers debut away at Dundee Utd !
