I think you don't give enough credit to Rice. I agree he is comfortable without the ball shielding the backline and then breaking to counter. That is his job at WHU but I think he could be a very good Matic to us. Remember the season we won, Matic was integral, maybe even our best player. 

I would love Rice to give Enzo the freedom to use his great shot. Now the balance between Kante and Enzo is a bit off. Kante does all that attacking leaving Enzo to build from the back. 

Rice is not even using all his skillset at WHU. He is such a talented footballer. His biggest strength on top of his footballing ability is his leadership ability. He is a natural leader. Enzo is as well but he is not speaking English yet.

Why did Lampard come to the club, twice when we looked completely lost? Cause he's above all a fan of the club. So it only strengthens my point about Rice not really being this huge fan that everyone claim he is, think about it we look terrible and even in this state we're still better than West Ham!

Rice can get more money and play CL next season at United or Arsenal, club affection means nothing these days.

The 295k to Koulibaly does not hurt either. Am sure Rice would come here if we offered him that, as.would Mount sign to stay.

We may still buy him, Boehly doesn't like to lose in a bidding war. He's not the priority signing like he was, Mount is more likely to go than stay, so there aren't that much going for him at Chelsea. Of course, he will get paid more than at Arsenal or Munich

Lol. Check what Koulibaly is earning here first. Kante is a legend and yes has a huge connection with us but again, the wages he is earning for not playing a full season, anyone in his situation would be content.

Because it was an offer of a life time to manage Chelsea when you're a championship level manager, Rice literally has every top club after him. You can't compare a step up to manage Chelsea to a step down to play for us entering your prime.

Rice has done several interviews talking about his support for Chelsea, why would he do that and potentially piss off the entire West Ham fan base? What does he achieve? Rice couldn't care less? He flirted with us all summer and did everything except hand a transfer request in, which once again can be turned down and ruin his bond with West Ham fans. You have absolutely zero idea what conversations went on behind the scenes about him transferring here.

He lead them into Europe two years running after finishing 16th the year before. A European final for West Ham is huge, go and ask any of their fans. Being from England i have several West Ham friends and all of them are ecstatic about being in the final and in no small part due to Rice.
