They're an absolute eyesore under Gerrard but competitive in big games and got a recent draw against City.

Won't be as easy as the form of both suggests it should be.

May come down to of Reece is fit and able to play.

probably to soon even if its a minor injury it would be wise to give him some rest for our Salzburg away game

if azpi plays on the level he displayed against Wolves he will be a capable replacement

Probably yeah. Reece is becoming a bit like how Hazard was for us before. The key player, our best player. We play a lot better when he plays.

Likely will see some rotation, that United game a week on Saturday is our first "big opponent" Spurs and a direct rival for top 4.

Given the gap between this game and Sundays Villa game I would expect more rotation to be against Brentford.

So I think Potter will go with something like this.

Kepa

Chalobah

Silva

Koulibaly

Dave

RLC

Jorginho

Chilwell

Mount

Aubameyang

Pulisic

Then I would venture Sterling, Havertz, Cucurella, Kovacic and possibly Broja all come in for Brentford.

No doubt a tough fixture made even worse by Villa's position that they have to fight to get out of. However, Potter seems to be getting it right in the team selection and tactics so Villa could get spanked especially as their forwards are firing blanks at the moment.  Potter has some momentum ATM so I reckon 0-3 to the boys in blue.

with 5 subs i would start with Mount and replace him at halftime for Gallagher to give him rest for Salzburg

I would also start with Sterling and take him off at halftime for Pulisic or Havertz

I would start Aubameyang and give him 60 minutes to be replaced with Broja

I would start RLC and Jorginho and take Jorginho off after 60 minutes to give Kova 30 minutes

The Salzburg game is not in a week's time, it is in 2 weeks time. We face Villa on sunday, Brentford a week today and United a week Saturday before Salzburg.

oh okay, didn't notice that

still wouldn't mind managing minutes, i think it's good for the team to have this competition

Kepa still flaps at high balls but otherwise he is doing ok.

I expect Silva might get a rotation again and if he does we may go to a back four once more, Chukumeka might get a few more minutes, Broja probably will get some minutes,  RLC might play instead of Jorgi or Kante  with Gallagher playing instead of Silva but its even harder to guess a Potter team than a Tuchel team

2-0 or 3-0 seems to be the going rate at the moment for this side. I'll go with 4-0 auba hatrick and Gerrard to lose his job. Easy.

Kepa

Azpilicutea Chalobah Koulibaly Cucurella

Loftus-Cheek Kovacic

Sterling                                 Pulisic

Aubameyang   Havertz

We really need a performance from Havertz here. Given the minutes he's been given, he's been our worse attacker this season imo. If he fails to deliver a good performance we need to start thinking about Broja being our #2.

I think we'll get the three points with or without him but it will be a grind and patience job as Villa play football from the 1800s which will be frustrating to play again.

Well we do have to get better at winning without him. Wolves was a start, though he did come on as a sub I guess so we had the security.

I would like too see Gallagher and Broja rewarded for their recent form with starts here and against Brentford. I would otherwise only make the mandatory James replacement and RLC for Kova.

Managers head-to-head it's 2-0 to Gerrard with a couple of 2-0 wins over Potters Brighton last season.

Be interesting to see if Potter has learned anything from last season in how to break down the Villa defence.

Time to revert to a back 4...

Kepa

Dave Silva K2 Cucurella

RLC Kovacic Mount

Havertz Auba Pulisic

Sterling nowhere near the first time as the bloke can't finish for toffee...
