Probably not if you want to be pedantic about the phrase top flight, his season at Lorient does though. He'd have worded it better as played more professional games at DM than at CB.

I meant top flight as in not youth games. I couldn't think of the right word as his time at CB was mostly from youth games. Point is he's played more games at DM than CB as that's where's hes played in all 3 loans he's got.

I'd have no problem with trying him there, as I think he is a good player, and we are short at DM. I've always thought we could do a lot worse than give Ampadu a proper chance there. He has played a lot there for Wales and is a very good ball-player and distributor with a lot of aggression. Can be a bit indisciplined, but his commitment is exemplary.

Really liked Ampadu. Had 1 very good breakthrough season - i think under conte. never really had a chance since- and to be honest, his form elsewhere hasn't justified another crack

To be honest, I forgot he was still on our books. I assumed he was sold. 

If we don't get a DM this summer then I would be ok keeping him around.

I think he's done well on his last two loans in Italy. Venezia and Spezia are hardly top clubs, so it's not been a cake-walk, but he's been consistently first choice. This (mind-blowing) graphic shows he's been pretty successful as a ball-playing CB.

This is a bit odd, why is he getting called out? I can’t remember him having a poor game, and even the average game I can recall him having is the Brighton game. Even at that you can’t really blame him for taking the initiative when Sterling and Pulisic couldn’t be bothered to press up front. He isn’t going to score loads of goals or bag lots of assists, he just isn’t that player.

As for the fee, a large chunk of it is based on future potential. When you look at the prices paid for Sancho, Grealish, Nunez & Antony in recent years I would argue he is worth every penny. Just wait till you see what Bellingham’s transfer fee is this summer.

@ducavis I'm not calling him out, it's not his fault Boehly is an idiot, same as it's not Mudryks. Just because other clubs are overpaying for Bellingham, Graelish, Nunez or Antony doesn't mean we should too. 120 too much for what he is offering, when Bruno signed for United for not even half that three years ago.

What I do feel is happening is that fans are making more out of him than he is to justify that insane pricetag. If he was all that we would win more.

It is not bad. Haaland cost city crazy money. City paid 100m for Grealish. Overpay for good player is never a problem. 

Overpay for Cucu or Kepa is a problem though. 

Overpaying literally implies that you could've paid less. So yes, overpaying is bad except if you think theres inherent value in burning money.

Overpay does not mean you can pay less. Overpay mean the price is higher than what we think the value of the player.

I don't think he's been that creative actually. Had a couple of blinders like the one assist at West Ham but otherwise he's not been that creative with his passing I believe.

And perhaps another thing to consider is that he's rubbish defensively. If his middle name was Jorginh he'd probably be slaughtered on here for his defensive awareness and positioning.

Considering the results didn't change since he came here we shouldve kept Jorgi and waited until summer to do some more serious scouting that involves the coaching staff instead of Boehly just picking random expensive targets, cause expensive has to mean good.

Also that way our fanbase wouldnt be scrambling in search of a new scapegoat either, so there's an additional plus for you.
