Silly Season - Summer Window 24/25

Featured Replies

A goalkeeper and a left back and a striker – apparently.

Goalkeeping rumours include. Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen and Everton are selling off players and so Jordan Pickford is on the rumour list and Las Palmas keeper Alvaro Valles.

Calvert-Lewin – Everton are a selling club and if we are looking for an injury prone striker who once had great potential he could be our man.

Maresca to prioritise McAtee signing

Incoming Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is set to prioritise a move for Manchester City forward James McAtee.

It’s officially silly season.

His Great Uncle was Alan Ball.  . . And Pep once said that Jame McAteee was 'special' so that should do it.

Thought he was a midfielder.

Yeah as Scott said he is a midfielder, more of an attacking one but still a midfielder.

Does that mean our obsession with Brighton is officially over ? Now we spunk 300 mill on City B and C level players.

Looks like it doesn’t it.

Oh I am certain we shall return to Brighton at some point.  But for now our main diet will be Citeh leftovers and anything related to the Great Pep.  Tosin, Lavia, Palmer, Enzo the elder, etc.

Just seen a link between us and Serhou Guirassy who had a tremendous season in the Bundesliga last season and at less than £15M could be worth a punt?

€17.5m (£14.9m) release clause in the contract of Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy [28].

Guirassy is a transfer target for clubs across the continent after a stunning season at Stuttgart, in which the forward scored 28 goals in 28 league appearance.

I do not know much about him.

A unit who puts the ball in the back of the f**king onion bag. Doesn't matter it it's 1924 or 2024 - that type of player doesn't go out of style.

Issue for us is we can offer only Conference League, less even than he'll get at Stuttgart. Might come down to the size of the contract.

Whenever i have seen him he has looked a bit like Kalou but his numbers are pretty good and they came second in the division. Importantly, i think he is quite mobile which i think is something Maresca may be interested in. I don't think the striker as the head of the team is that important to Maresca, hence another reason why i could see the Osimhen deal not happening. He wants his striker to drop deep, engage the play, bring in midfielders, who may well go beyond him to score. Therefore touch, pass appreciation and mobility will be paramount. I would have liked Kolo Muani but timing not right and he has now settled elsewhere. Guirassy could work.

I agree with the striker coming deeper under Maresca. I think Enzo will be given a much more attacking role in this system and will be expected to get beyond the striker at times.

Many posters see him as the Fabregas we had at Chelsea but I think he’s capable of being the Fabregas Arsenal had if that makes sense. Big season for him I reckon and for Carney too if Maresca plays 4-3-3.

So, Serhou Guirassy [28] sounds like a decent option and about 100 million quid cheaper than that fellah in Napoli. Granted Victor is probably better, but he is that much better?  We need an instinctive goal scorer and with all the magical qualities that Cole Palmer and our other attacking players have Guirassy just has to get on the end of things and do a little ‘poaching’.  Jackson will be there too – always improving. Yep, I can see this might make sense.

Is Enzo a Fabregas player or a Pirlo type player? I am not altogether sure.  I am thinking he is more Pirlo than Fabregas though tbh. I am most likely wrong. Enzo doesnt have the pace and the acceleration that Cesc Fabregas had.
