Silly Season - Summer Window 24/25

Featured Replies

Silly season is back, so the rumours thread normally picks up now.

Here is a thread for all the random rumours to go in, and any that turn out to be true can move on to their own threads.

WAGNH have began today by stating Gallagher (for 50mill), Chalobah (for 25mill) and Broja (no price offered) are all up for sale:

Lol I know we have the general one that has been around for a long time. I thought though might be nice to have a thread per window for the case that @Modcould pin, then un pin when the window is done and can either than be deleted for forum data saving space or disappear down the pages.

Just pulling your leg @axman2526.  What does it matter to me.

More importantly how many right wingers to we need to sell to make paying £60 million for Olise not look crazy?

Looks like we're going for Olise.

I assume we're going to try our best and sell Sterling but Olise plays from the right and so not sure what that says for Noni.

In 2025 our attacking options are going to be pretty stacked so it puts alot of doubt into the futures of Mudryk, Carney and Noni if we sign Olise.

Even as good as Olise is, it makes absolutely no sense signing him. None. We already have Palmer and Noni in the squad, Gabriel and Hutchinson to return, Paez and Estevao in a years time and Richards ripping up trees in the u23’s

Shifting players isn’t as easy as you might think, this will become a problem for us.
If we didn’t have to deal with financial rules I wouldn’t mind so much, but prioritizing another right winger is plain stupidity when its the only area on the pitch we do not need upgraded.

Surprised they are looking at RW ahead of LW, when it is LW that is in far more dire need of improvement (Sterling a goal every 248 minutes in the PL and Mudryk a goal every 316 minutes).

Olise's 23/24 productivity is light years ahead of all our wingers, so can see why they are interested ...

They did look at Williams, so I think they are trying. Seems like the market is overflowing with young left footed right wingers at the moment, and not much top prospects on the other side. Look, Olise is really good and signing him can only improve us. I’m just arguing that spending that money on him improves us less than spending big on a goalkeeper, left back, striker and even a centre back. And yes, with our financial issues it’s surely a case of either or.

They're all left footed so just playing one of them on the left and tell them to cross the f**ker.

We could, but they’re not really crossing wingers though. Wingers nowadays are more inside forwards than anything, so they would be playing a role they’re not really used to or suited for

But then Big brain football fans can't talk about "inverted wingers" being soooo amazing...

If we can get £60 million for Sterling and Noni then I would make snap Olise up.  He’s starting to have a major influence on games now.  His goal involvement per minute is excellent too.

Anyone ever tried playing 3 right wingers in the same team before? Surely the mega overload on the right would be unstoppable! More Todd Tactical genius.

He's injury prone good idea to avoid, Eze looks a better option.

They are both good players, and I know Olise has had 2 injuries in 2 seasons, but I would take him in a second. I think he's class, could go right to the top.

I did wonder about him a while ago. But he fell out of favour at Burnley.

RDZ cares most about his keeper being good on the ball. Why a 38 year old Steele was his number 1 for a while. Trafford is good on the ball.

Hmm, not sure about that tbh.
