Teams who finish in the top eight will qualify automatically for the last 16, while those who place ninth to 24th will compete in a two-legged knockout play-off for the chance to join them. Whoever finishes 25th or lower will be eliminated. who we are playing is above but when will be decided on saturday. Theres a list of dates already out but i cant find it atm. Basically they have until Saturday to match the "who" with the "when" so that there isn't any issues like travel or match conflicts, etc Chelsea 3 October: Gent (H) 24 October: Panathinaikos (A) 7 November: FC Noah (H) 28 November: FC Heidenheim (A) 12 December: FC Astana (A) 19 December: Shamrock Rovers (H)

As if I'm running things, we're taking our worst 15 players and keeping the best at home. I think it's ridiculous those clubs are in European competitions. Not at all, that's what this competition was setup for. It's ridiculous that we're in this level of competition. Embarrassment of the highest level, even worse if we don't walk it.

Armenia is Europe and the UN considers Kazakhstan as partly in Eastern Europe, like Turkey. It’s a long way, I agree, but there’s no reason to exclude these countries.

Well NOAH is a home game so shouldn't be an issue and half of Kazakhstan is in Europe. We'd have to ban Turkish teams and Russian teams (prior to the war) from European competitions too. We shouldn't be flying 11 hours because we shouldn't be in this situation, qualify for CL and this wouldn't an issue. Edited September 11, 20241 yr by Ukraine Bolt

Armenia sure although I do think geographically they are also in Asia. 1 hour ago, Ukraine Bolt said: Well NOAH is a home game so shouldn't be an issue and half of Kazakhstan is in Europe. We are playing on the eastern end of Kazakhstan. Where most people live. And I thought the same when United played them in the Europa league. And if I had paid attention when they played in the champs league. Edited September 11, 20241 yr by bisright1

Someone is going to be delighted to know that we’re going to play against Astana in Almaty, which is further east than Astana

If the game were to be transferred to Brentford for some inexplicable reason that's a lot further east going the long way round.
September 12, 20241 yr Last year on the same date Almaty was minus 20 degrees. The stadium has no roof. Can we just elect to forfeit the game and not bother?

September 12, 20241 yr Can't believe uefa have allowed the game to be played that far away, it's approx 250 miles from the Chinese border, closer to Shanghai than London.
September 12, 20241 yr Just win the opening 4 games, no great distance to go there, then send our youth team and management there.

Yeah , but on the other hand , don't they have to travel a long way when they play their away games in Europe? I didn't realise it was that far away though. As ridiculous as when we played Arsenal in Baku in the Europa final. . And gave them a right old tonking! Seems like another world looking back now.

After long negotiations well into the night, Britain agreed not to take the easy way out of footballing competitions and to just lose on penalties. Edited September 14, 20241 yr by Valerie
