Europa League 24/25

Featured Replies

Very little being said about it yet but as things stand  Man Utd may well not be allowed to play in the 24/25 version of the EL

All hinges around the ownership structure of Nice and Utd. Radcliffe currently has control over both clubs ( defined as owning over 10% of the shares.

As Nice finished in 5th and Utd in 8th Nice get the nod.

It’s not the first time this has happened and it’s down to Radcliffe to propose a way forward but as I say little being said about it.

There may well be a similar situation with City & Girona

United will be fine I think. The rules state that you cannot have more than a 10% stake at each club and be the majority shareholder. He isn't the majority shareholder at United.

It's City that have an issue as CityGroup are the majority shareholder for both City and Girona.

It’s a bit more complicated than that

  1. No individual or legal entity may have control or influence over more than one club participating in a UEFA club competition, such control or influence being defined in this context as:

    1. holding a majority of the shareholders’ voting rights;

    2. having the right to appoint or remove a majority of the members of the administrative, management or supervisory body of the club;

    3. being a shareholder and alone controlling a majority of the shareholders’ voting rights pursuant to an agreement entered into with other shareholders of the club; or

    4. being able to exercise by any means a decisive influence in the decision-making of the club.

 That could be an issue for them. I thought it just came down to who the the majority shareholder was, but there is a bit more to it than that.

Watch UEFA let both compete anyway, same for City and Girona.

What's happened about the stories that we would be punished by EUFA for something or other if we played in a EUFA competition?

I can't remember what we were going to be in trouble about ?

It was something related to UEFA FFP rules if I remember, because their rules do not allow for things like selling training ground and hotel etc. All gone quiet so hopefully that was just press BS.

Are Pafos FC that Cypriot team which had a brief English revolution? They appointed John Toshack's son as manager then signed Jason Puncheon and Sam Hutchinson for a six-month jolly.

I was there last week. They had to play in Limassol as their ground is so small. Locals though were expecting them to do Cluj on their home patch.

Hoping for Legia for the atmosphere, Guimares, TNS or Shamrock ,Panathinikos and Lane or Pafos
