Are you mentally well? You are way too excited and way too aggravated that you can't even understand basic English. A large portion of the Chelsea fanbase know we're not in a title race yet. You are pressuring yourselves, yourselves here referring to the fans that are calling for a title race this early. You can get sucked in to the media narrative and pressure yourself all you want game by game, I just want to enjoy watching us play after years of poor managerial appointments.

The players and managers are obviously competing for every wins and until the team reaches the point where they can legitimately win the title, then we can say we're in the title race.

The 21/22 PL season we were top by Christmas and fell off in January against some really poor teams whilst City went on stupid winning streak. Still a lot of football left to be played, still a lot of twists and turns.

Calling people out about being fans and whatnot when you just joined this year? Come off the high horse

A pretentious prat and now mentally ill. Lol.

Are we in a title race? If we are not, then why the hell  are we all here? I'd believe we were in a title race, even if I supported Sc**thorpe. What is it with these WORDS that get's you so upset that your enjoyment of watching your own team is spoiled by someone mentioning the dreaded T word? Why are you are fan, why bother? Seriously, why bother? We are second, dude. Do you seriously want us to fail from.there? We might just do that even in a year when you finally believe in your teams abilities, but at what point do you ever enjoy the game, the team, the buzz, the highs, the lows? Apparently  only at the end of the season when your bragging rights are safely confirmed, and you can enjoy your summer hols, before coming back here to moan all over again. Why should I get off the high horse? It's winter and the seat is incredibly warm from you sitting on it so long.

Our solidity/defence fell off a cliff as far as I remember, did T Silva get injured? He wasn't the same after that. And then of course the situation in Donbass escalated, just to remind everyone a war has been going on there since 2014.

Silva didn't get injured. It started in Nov. Chilwell got a freak ACL tear against Juve. Late Dec, Lukaku's interview came out, Rudiger and Christensen's contract wasn't properly sorted, we drew Pool, lost against City. In Oct we were top on a 5pt lead over City and a 3pt lead over Pool, by Feb we were 3rd with City having a 16pt lead over us. It's not like we were poor either, we had plenty of wins just a few losses and draws here and there.

There is no title race in December.

We're all here because we love watching Chelsea FC, I was here when the club was being sanctioned by the government and the club was in danger of being liquidated. I was there when we protested the Ricketts'. Now I'm still here and am enjoying the football and solidarity the team finally has.

The one upset here is you. All I said and consistently said is we're not in a title race yet. Come May, after we beat Liverpool(or draw/lose whatever), and still top then we're in a title race.

Maybe I'll read your posts in The Chelsea Liquidation thread another day. I'm sure it will make interesting reading. Just for the record, what ever wild doom laden words were being spoken here, that scenario never transpired, and that was not down to anything said or thought by fans. This is what I found bizarre, and is this what I have responded to - " Proclaiming we are in a title race takes away that enjoyment"

And how do we get to be in a position to win a title.........................we engage in a process of obtaining that title, AKA a title race, which is what a competitive football league is all about every season! We happen to be engaging rather well  with that process, despite so many fans finding so much wrong with the players, the manager, the tactics, and the positional choices, even as we are in second place, which is in the top four and happens to be just behind first place in a 20 team league.

As for the May thing. We may beat Liverpool on the 3rd when not even in the top 4. We may beat Liverpool on the 3rd, go top, and still not be winners on the 25th. We may lose to Liverpool on the 3rd, but still be title winners on the 25th. I am sure there are other permutations, and neither you nor I have a clue as to which one may come true. Right now we are in a title race by virtue of the fact that we are right there, and that makes me feel good. EOM.

Well we now know we were never going to be top at Christmas this season.

I mean Spurs...lol

I see iron-clad causality in that graph: if a team wearing blue is top of the league at Christmas, they are 100% guaranteed to win the title.

It's the Arsenal fans I feel "sorry" for LOL. 100% failure rate when leading at Xmas !

👍

7 points behind Pool who have a game in hand still.

The title race does not involve us this season, what we need to be concerned with is getting ourselves going again and not dropping like a Stone from 2nd to out of the top 4.

We could well be 4th by Monday night and have Newcastle breathing down our necks.

All we can do is try and string a run of wins together again and get some pressure back on them. We've badly fluffed our lines though in the last week, just when it looked like it might get interesting ...

At this point the chasing clubs will all need some sort of Devon Loch event from Liverpool to mount a realistic challenge. Not impossible, but highly unlikely.

Probably need Salah and Van Dijk to miss a few games - that would certainly help !

Win against Ipswich and it's 38 points at the half way mark. 2 per game.

Id be delighted if we repeated that to hit 76. It would be our highest since we last won the league.

Since the PL went down to 38 games, only once (in 2013/14) has the 4th placed points total exceeded 76 points. The average for 4th place has been 69 points, and for 3rd it has been 74 points.

If we can hit 76, we'll be in very good shape to get back in the Champions League.

Disappointing few results but not entirely unexpected. If we’d plodded along with a win and a loss here and there rather than putting the run together I’d probably be very happy with 2nd/3rd position right now .

Liverpool will likely win it pulling away but still can’t shake the feeling that there was a bit of a chance this season.

With the the youth of the squad I'm not surprised that we're hitting a bad run. As fun as it is to say we could win the league, most fans will say that a top 4 is the aim and we can look at challenging next season. With that being said, the keeper and striker we have we just arent good enough to be starting for a a team trying to win the league.

After the first few games of the season I thought we were likely to have a season of up and down performances what I didn't expect was that to happen deep into the Champions League positions. We've just drawn and lost yet are still nicely placed for potential Champions League Qualification come the end of the season. The media are touting as as title contenders and the snide mocking has all but stopped. It's a young team with still more potential, the squad will likely see some mods but hopefully much less severe than recent windows. Chelsea are back and actually ahead of schedule.

Title contenders? the media think so, it must be true 🙂. Nobody is laughing at us now.

There was always going to be a need for differentiation between being in a title race and being capable of winning the title. The media and rival fans have no motive to bother with such critical thinking, but as a fan base it makes  the next 5 months or so easier to manage.

We are in a title race, simply through league position and difference in points to the leaders. With no context on why or how.

However, we aren’t ready to win the league. Every sane Chelsea fan knows that, we have serious deficiencies in our starting 11, we have a young squad, a new manager and owners prone to throwing grenades into situations.

You never want to lose. But today’s result will have done a good job and lowering our stock in the outside world. Hopefully we can go back to quietly getting on with our business and focus on securing CL for next season.

We needed to be near perfect, and with this young group it was always going to be asking a lot of.

We need to fix ourselves though, nevermind the title, we have clubs on good runs behind us looking to drop us out of the top 4.

That would be something I don't think Maresca survives to be honest, 2nd at Christmas and not in the top 4 come seasons end.

Am also concerned with his handling of Noni, is giving me ETH and Sancho vibes.

I wouldn't be concerned. We have Estaveo coming in, Noni was always likely to be shipped out next year.

To challenge for the league, we also need to improve at home a lot.

I don't what this anomaly is but we are the best away side along with Liverpool but we have 7 less points compared to them from home games.

The same thing happened with Pochettino last season, we were better away than home and I can't explain why it is happenning.

Teams are more likely to sit back and defend when playing at the bridge. We struggle to break them down.

We started off crap at home last season, but second half of the season we were going like a train, with Wolves at home the only further reversal after we lost to Brentford in October,

For some reason, we've lost our ability to score at Stamford Bridge this season, possibly because Palmer is playing in the congested centre and being double-teamed, and the other forwards aren't stepping up to compensate ?
