Chelsea vs West Ham United (PL) Mon 3rd February 25 20:00 GMT

Featured Replies

In a big picture we basically gave nothing to West Ham who have an extremely experienced side and capable of holding fort. Admittedly they only had their captain as a makeshift striker but that captain plays for England. We gifted them a goal by a massive mistake.

We had chances to score 4 I think.

We are not a functioning unit atm so we should be very glad we got 3 points.

I'd be tempted to play Jackson on the left, Nkunku up top, and Palmer on the right. I personally think they would be decent front three together, and it takes the pressure off Jackson playing up top, which he clearly isn't fantastic at.

We have to consider this opponent in terms of what to do... they sat back and weren't very good at counter eg slow.

This type of game is not optimal for Jackson but suits the slower legs of Enzo for example. Nkunku is much better in this scenario as a striker. They gave us a couple of situations where Jackson shone but only one or two.

I think Guiu was also providing in the second half. He brought something else to the game.

I'm hard pressed to think of any type of game or opponent that IS optimal for Jackson.

We basically looked like world beaters once Maresca dropped his system and played to everyone’s strengths.

Outside of Cucurella he has made every starting player objectively worse than they were last season.

Jackson is light years better than Nkunku as st. St job is not just to score goal.

True, but Jackson has been shoehorned into the striker role when he's actually a winger. The guy then faces waves of criticism, despite the fact he's being asked to play that role by the manager.

I think those players as a front three would work though, as they can interchange.

I thought this has been proven that he has pretty much always played as a striker at Villareal, and mostly for Senegal?

I think we need to accept that this is the 'but he plays as a #10 for Nigeria' of this generation of players.
