If Jorgensen starts we will need to score 4 to get a point.

How many times has Sanchez saved this God awful defence this season?

No matter who starts we will likely concede 1 or 2 at least. We've only managed 1 clean sheet this year in the Premier League and that was rather fortuitous against Brentford.

Yeah it embaressing, and is another way I feel little connection to this team.

I took pride in just how strong the defences we built from Jose onwards. This lot are just incompetent.

Under Maresca the same team did actually keep a decent amount of clean sheets (we managed 6 in our first 13 league games this season). It was other areas where we were having issues, notably on the attacking side. I think some of the reason we are letting in more goals now is because we have reverted to the ball-playing goalkeeper approach. Maresca had seemingly abandoned that approach once he saw how our goalkeepers were with the ball at their feet.

True, also odd how Rosenior, a defender by trade, cannot coah a defence to defend.

That's because the football we played was so mind-numbingly dull that even the opposition got bored and couldn't be bothered.

I mean then Arsenal should have broke our clean sheet record then...lol

Some good points there...

And whilst it may not be common knowledge to our American friends... I would also add that most people who have ever played football know the reason the majority of GKs become GKs is because, they're not very good with the ball at their feet.

Totally agree. I think Ruud Gullit said something along those lines.

Given Rosenior is happy to bench the established and go with the untried let's have a run of Josh and Sarr as our centerbacks.

Aye I've facepalmed myself for the lunacy of suggestions such a thing.

Blueco make me feel a very old and rusty Ax mate...

Interesting to see if he rests the better players for the comeback v PSG of which he speaks. If so Marc Guiu might get a chance. Tbf he's not looking likely to set the world on fire but its been pretty daft and cruel how we have brought him back to then let him sit on the bench, anyone would think he was being punished.

Don't think they'll be popping off to Dubai for the weekend, this time, if he does 😁

Lol he did:

Ruud Gullit is famously associated with the humorous, cynical quote, "A goalkeeper is a goalkeeper because he can't play football". This remark, sometimes interpreted as a commentary on the technical limitations of older-generation keepers compared to outfield players, highlights a traditional view of the position.

I'm ok being a traditionalist... probably came to me because it was like that when we were kids... the one who couldn't play got put in goal!

3 points is the absolute minimum here. They will be resting key players for Barcelona second leg, I really hope Rosenior isn’t thinking about saving players for the second leg, because what’s the point. Okay, on a very good day, we may score 4 past them. But to keep a clean sheet? I don’t think so.

Important game this one, win and we keep the pressure on 4th placed Villa and let's remember Newcastle are 12th.

Newcastle have some good players so we need to go strong with smart tactics which we lacked against PSG.

They also busted their guts -v- Barca and the squad is limited through injury.

I've spotted a flaw.
