Which players do we Sell or Loan for the 26/27 Season?

Keep - Colwill, Palmer, Caicedo, Estevao, Pedro

Not fussed either way - James, Enzo, Hato, Cucurella.

Sell - The rest.

Sack - The entire board and everybody with a Kinetic connection.

Hmm why not fussed on Reece?

Just about right mate. I would bin off James as well

Interesting. Why?

Constantly needs protection because he might break down, which means we have to rely on a backup RB too often. We also have to plan our subs around him. We could be 1-0 down and need our captain to step up, but he is getting dragged off because he might get injured. Are we going to keep doing this until he retires? It's a constant handicap. The manager has to have James as a player to bring off in every game when we could need the sub for a different situation. Even today, he was on the bench in our last game of the season where we could have finished in Europa League spot. There is no chance our big characters in the past are sitting on the bench in an important game like that, even if there is a big tournament around the corner.

I'm also not a fan of his playing style. I don't doubt his ability on the ball, but we rarely see much of it anymore. He plays too slow because I don't think he can physically play at a high tempo anymore without breaking down. I don't really rate him as a captain either, I find his comments after the cup final defeat and to Sky about needing stability a bit like a nothing response, because of course we need that. The way he talks feels scripted and cliche. I don't think he can motivate anybody, change or demand respect as a captain from his teammates. He's not that personality. He's not a Wise, Terry, Cahill or Azpilicueta.

James isn't our biggest problem by far, and there were times where I had him as player of the season because everybody else was so sh*t, but at this point, I really don't care. Nobody is untouchable in this generation of Chelsea players, and James has been an awful captain this season as far as I'm concerned.

Valid points mate.

Better list than mine, but looking at that, surely not hard to get the fees to at least break even on some of these disasters. Yes the net spend is an issue, but from an accounting pov, most of these will surely bring their book value at a minimum, just hope we dont start trying to fleece teams like they did with Jackson.

Lol at Alonso taking a training session in the summer with his retained list - the staff will outnumber the players and the dressing room will be half empty

Edited by OTL

Apologies if his name is hidden here somewhere already but isn't the lesser spotted Dujon Richards also one of ours to return.

I thought the situation squad wise in numbers was bad at the end of the Potter/Lampard season but these lists make that end of season look healthy lol.

I just can't see how we are going to shift so many players, particularly on oner way tickets.

My worry is a big knock on effect for any promising youth that we do have where do they go? - No game time apart from League cup probably and likely to be even less meaningful loan opportunities with our loan system increasingly nothing more than a glorified storage facility for deadwood that we can't get rid of.

Call me old fashioned but I used to quite enjoy the times when our loan system was top heavy with players who were given the opportunity to further develop with regards to a possible pathway to the first team if successful, or at least the chance to see whether they are at least possible in that respect.

I can’t be bothered with any of these group of players. Something has been going on behind the scenes and some have behaved like entitled prats while others have been weak, and that includes our captain Reece James, who should have stepped in and grabbed a few players by their nuts to put them straight. From what I hear, Alonso does not tolerate indiscipline and doesn’t like entitled pricks, so we’ll see which players are worth keeping and which ones we should burn at the stake when he starts.

Agree with everything but selling James won’t be easy. He’s got a good paying contract until he’s nearly 33 and who would be willing to replace that? The answer to your question about doing the same until he retires is probably yes. He’ll be 27 later this year, he knows he is past his best but he made a World Cup squad so he’ll think he is good enough to see out his time at Chelsea.

There’s a number of players at Madrid been rumoured from Cortious to Mbape, surely some deals can be done.

If they really want Enzo that is, I can’t see him being a JM player and more noise from Enzo and his agent than RM.

A decent Madrid player is on a min €10m, getting them to move to a 10th place team will require a premium. It’s a non starter

I reckon the owners banked on getting European football yesterday in some form just to keep a reasonably sized team, and kick the can down the road. Without European football and playing once a week, the squad becomes a nightmare. How do you trim a 38 man first team to 20? Smart move will be to sell 10-13 and loan out 5, which you can then use in 2027 when hopefully we get European football.

And? Are we changing the way we operate or not? I wasn’t expecting them to play for free.

We need quality not quantity and everyone makes to big a deal out of CL.

If you sell the Alonso ‘project’ missing a few games in Europe one season ain’t the end of the world.

No we aren’t. Enzo is asking for £250k-£350k/w which they are refusing to pay.

I wouldn’t give Enzo that either, doesn’t mean we can’t go and sign players from RM. Hujsen was at Bournemouth last season it’s now not beneath him to sign for CFC because we ain’t in Europe.

Alonso has been linked with Gular,Tchouameni. These aren’t impossible deals. We need to get away from this small club mindset. Start hiring the best in class from manager to subs bench.

I agree with you but I just can’t see them going down that route. It will be mid “opportunities in the market”.

We can keep him too, this is why I said I'm not fussed either way, but I don't think he can lead us or be a regular starter. If a player has to be subbed off out of fear of them getting injured when we are 1-0 down, or can't play in a game that will secure a spot in a European competition, then that player cannot be relied on and we need somebody else to come in and take that spot.

If you can't pay Enzo, you can't sign player from real.

In the last two seasons. We sold Gallagher, tried to sell Chalobah. We sold Madueke. Tried to sell Jackson.

All of these players played close 2000 min in the previous season. None of this players are old or super expensive.

So it is not about small team mindset, we are simply not operating the way big team operate.

If we aren’t operating in the way big teams do doesn’t that highlight our small team mindset?

The money is there, it’s always been there we just spend it wrong. Small team mindset is rife within the supporters.

I wouldn’t go near him with a barge pole to be honest by why is Mbape off the table? No player in world football should be off our table unless we decide they ain’t worth touching. They ain’t here because we don’t want them not can’t have them.

To many fans willing to say yeah but we don’t do this or that instead of insisting we should do this or that.

Small team mindset.

Mbappe? He is on €70m per year. €40m in wages & €30m in bonuses. Only his previous club, PSG can pay those wages, and they got fed up.

Totally agree the numbers don’t work with him, don’t want him but the point remains he is off our table because we don’t want him not because we can’t have him.

If we didn’t sign half the sh*t we do we could very easily afford that type of player. Nobody is out of our league we just choose poorly. Hopefully that’s changing.
