Not sure I understand why the pundits think that goal should have stood. Surely irrespective of whether Mendy could have gotten to the ball, he was kicked and kicking someone usually equates to a free kick

Didn't see the post match stuff but, for me, I wish players and managers would stop moaning about fixture pile ups. Just get on with it, we have it every Xmas and yes COVID has thrown a new spanner in the works but manage the squad accordingly and we shouldn't be that reliant on one player to stop us looking shaky.

Utterly pointless blaming Lukaku for tonight. He was offered nothing bar that late chance. Havertz, Kovacic, Jorginho and Ziyech were pedestrian and turgid and there was bugger all quality from the wing backs.
It's hard to recall another performance where we played utterly into the hands of the opposition. Juventus probably sat in the dressing room at half time delighted at how we were passing the ball around in front of a back line that could keep us out for 8 weeks due to the total lack of creativity we had.

We don't play to his strengths, we need more decisive fast passes intransitive I see too much backwards passing, slowing down of thr play. Balls out wide rather than centrally through thr channels.

Christensen is fantastic these days. And Silva, there are no words!

The academy is a business model, and running a football club has become a business. Millions are pumped around, decisions are made based on money. A club is an employer for the players and for the staff. If it looks like the employer isn't going to give the employee what they want, they move on, and vice versa. This is how most people view their jobs and their employer-employee relationship. Add to this the fact that in the 21st century players have wisened up to the reality of their situation and - like the rest of us - are much more assertive and pro-active when it comes to their careers. Being 18 years old doesn't mean you can't have a clear picture of how you want to proceed for the next few years. Signing for a club like Palace or Leeds or whatever doesn't mean they're settling for mediocrity, it means that is a step they want to take to further their careers, not for the wisful thinking of supporters. It's only us supporters who don't see football as a business, and romaticise everything to do with the club, especially the so-called "one of our own" singing material. Supporters are emotionally invested in a club, and love to bandy around words like "loyalty" and "impatience". For those directly involved, it's their livelihoods.

If there's genuine upgrades then by all means go for it (as we're doing at CB) but if that summer hasn't proven that signing for signing sake isn't the way forward then i don't know what will. I'd rather sign no one than compromise our promising system by signing Lukaku and i genuinely mean that.
Likewise with January 2020 when people were moaning because of our rivals signed Bergwijn, Gedson, Ighalo and Pablo Mari, could you even imagine the state of our squad right now with those 4 on the rooster?

We know as supporters it's horrible to lose a CL final. He got it wrong today, and Tuchel got it very right, our players were sublime and played their white socks off.

No. this is fine because James will stop Vardy.
But the serious question is: why is Azpi playing instead of CHO ? In the last 20 minutes in the FA cup final he was hurting the Leicester defense more than Azpi in 70 minutes.

I'm not wedded to VAR if it improves the game - I haven't seen enough evidence of that yet. But I'm also not blaming VAR for us losing - its too convenient and ignores the other problems with the way Chelsea play at the moment. It's pointless having 60-70% possession every game if we can't put the ball in the net.

Congratulations to Leicester, reminds me very much of when we won the cup final after Mathew Harding’s death. You are a credit to your owner and have done really well in his memory.

We're doing this too often and it's masking the problems we've got in the final third. Arsenal had one shot on target. Scored from it and won. While we go through games passing it sideways..sideways...sideways then backward while having little to no goal threat and very rarely test the oppo's keeper.
We've got too many players who are afraid to do something positive on the ball and pass it around with no impetus or pace.

I'm not ignoring it but I'm not blaming it on our loss. The offside hinges on a frame on a tv and it can't be called a fake offside but we didn't lose just because of that.

Come on gol. Any sensible person would not provide that clip as evidence.
At least scott put a still up from in line, which i also think he is offside, but i get scotts point about the frame. The technology isnt there becsuse it only records in 30 fps.
Tough decision, but we have seen them ruled out closer than that all season.

All this talk about new contracts for Tuchel, Rudiger, Silva and Jorginho’s agent chatting about things all since the lately surely can’t of helped.
IMO contracts and performances should always be reviewed at the end of season not a few matches from the end, especially with 2 cup finals and an ongoing battle for top 4 still to be sorted.
Sporting matters first money matters after the season ends.

    You're talking horsesh*t.
Do you know how this reads to me? This is how I am reading it "never mind losing two finals, because if we make top 4, we can celebrate giving it another go next season"
It's such a losers mentality, almost Tottenham like. I don't celebrate taking part, I celebrate winning.
Anybody that isn't fussed about losing a cup final doesn't understand the passion for the game. If this how you feel, then you must have loved the idea of the Super League. After all, we would have been guaranteed to take part in that every season.
Our most successful era was built on winning these competitions, it gave us belief that we could go on and keep winning more. So when I see somebody like you playing it down like it's almost meaningless, it really pisses me off and I can't help but feel you're not a true fan of club. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I cannot accept any fan not feeling really hurt by this loss. This is the ultimate prize for football fans and the players, nothing gets better than seeing your team win trophies, but to you, it's not important because we are still going for a top 4 finish, something that only guarantees you play in one competition, nothing more. It's not even comparable to losing a cup final.

I agree about Azpi playing WB took me a while to notice, thought James was having the game of his life in stopping Vardy and then realised he was playing CB not WB.
Ziyech should have come off earlier or he should have played Havertz form the start.
I also thought Mendy should have played.
I'm wondering if TT's sense of honour and the chaps that got us to the final were being given the chance to contest it above playing our strongest side.

We didn't lose because of VAR or any other conspiracy. We lost because we continually pass the ball sideways in front of a well prepared defence. We lost because we cannot create a chance from 9 corners. We lost because we left too many non-performing players on the pitch - waiting until 67 minutes to take off Ziyech is a poor decision, particularly in light of taking off the likes of Gilmour at half-time. We lost because Tuchel thought having James stop Vardy was more important than having James create space and dangerous crosses up front - Dave is a great full-back and captain but he is not, and never will be, a wing-back. We lost because we were poor in the second-half. This loss was, like the Arsenal game, all in our own hands. It's pointless blaming anyone else.
