Aston Villa v Chelsea (PL) Sun 26th Dec 2021 17:30 GMT

We should have Lukaku, CHO and Werner back from Covid isolation. I believe they all started that last Wednesday along with Chilwell. Havertz won't be cleared yet so hopefully we see:

Mendy

Chalobah

Silva

Rudiger

James

Jorginho

Kovacic

Alonso

Mount

Lukaku

CHO

Given Villas game with Burnely was called off last Saturday with 2 hours to spare before kick off it is not certain this game goes ahead, and given it would only be 8 days after that match was supposed to happen if it does go ahead Gerrard may be missing a few players.

Could see them play an Everton esc side if so.

Good grief what a scary thought against a low block...no shots on target bar long range Rudiger drivers lol

This and Brighton and big ones, we need maximum points or forget being in the title race. We can hope City and Pool drop points but that seems a fools hope. We need to lose no further ground then beat them both in January.

Steven Gerrard is "hopeful" the game will go ahead, although he has said they will need a couple of players to recover and be lucky, and it will go as close to the Burnley cancelation as to whether they can play or not.

Basically if they can play, they will be missing a lot of players a likely won't be able to have a full 7 on the bench unless drafting in youth team players.

Assuming a few players are back for us this is what I would go with

mendy

azbi silva rudiger

james kante jorginho alonso

mount lukaku  pulisic

Christensen, Lukaku and CHO back in training, Under 23s staying with first team squad for now:

AC, Rom and Cal expected to be available for Villa so long as no further set backs are had, probably all 3 will start of so imo, given Silva and maybe Mason a break.

Silva just had a break.

I’d like to get Werner back. Feel the team is at its best when he is moving defence round.  But really it’s time for lukaku to step up.

Rules have changed and people testing positive can stop self-isolation after 7 days if they test negative with a lateral flow test on the 6th and 7th day. So I guess that helps Villa to get more players back and I see unlikely that they’ll postpone the game.

Ah interesting.

Now when the covid situation in our camp is getting better, this is a must win - by all means. That being said, I'm pretty certain we're going to get 3 points here. It's never going to be a walk in the park but I'm expecting a similar game to the league one at the Bridge...

Think we felt thar way when we saw how much stronger our line up was compared to Everton...

To be fair, we've probably underestimated Everton. Besides that, I've got a feeling we're back on track. Win the next three and it's game on.

That would include beating Pool, who will still have Salah and Mane, at home.

This match is going to be the start of a long string of wins, bookmark me.

Would be nice if you are right but we won't be beating pool at home. Salah will make sure of that.

Step by step. Too early to think about Liverpool.
