Squad
Following on from my post.. In regards to Summer It's massive that we keep hold of Hazard. He's our best player and has been majorly important in us winning our last two League titles. Even if we sold him for huge money we wouldn't be able to replace him with a player on his level In regards to Courtois while I'd like to keep him as he's a top class GK if we did receive a crazy offer for him then I feel we'd have to consider it I don't feel our squad needs a massive overhaul a couple in and a couple out. The main thing we should be focusing on is bringing in actual quality to improve our team If we did sell Courtois for crazy money then I'd like us to look at Jack Butland, very good GK, English and only 25. With Stoke likely to be relegated he wouldn't cost massive amounts and would also allow us to reinvest some of the Courtois money on other parts of the squad I'd also like us to go for Toby Alderweirled. While it's unlikely Spurs will sell to us Toby he has only 1 year left on his contract and is unhappy and will likely be sold in the Summer. I'd make both Spurs and Toby an offer they'd find hard to turn down. Plus if Toby wants to stay in London that gives us an advantage Julian Weigl would be amazing next to Kante, he's very good defensively but is also a very good passer and is great at dictating play from deep. With Dortmund likely to want to keep Bats after his loan I'd look to trying to come to some sort of deal that means we sign Weigl. At 22 he will only get better Lastly I'd get Leon Bailey. This guy reminds me Robben and would be a great acquisition for our attack and would compliment both Willian and Hazard. At 20 years old he will only get better I'd also like to see the likes of Ampadu, Ola Aina, Hudson-Odoi and RLC be part of our squad. While we look to sell Pedro, Moses, Luiz/Cahill, Bakayoko, Zappacosta ................................Courtois/Butland............................... Azpi..............Christensen......Alderweirled...............Emerson ............................Kante.............Weigl............................... .......................................Barkley....................................... Bailey/Willian.....................Morata...........................Hazard Subs Willy, Rudiger, Ola Aina, Cahill/Luiz, Rudiger, Alonso, RLC, Ampadu, Fabregas, Drinkwater, Hudson-Odoi, Giroud Under a manager like Tuchel that squad could be a very exciting, attacking team that is strong in all positions. It would be more than good enough to finish in the top 4. It also has a good mix of youth and experience

The impending transition period. What would you like to see?
We spent 250 million on new players in the Summer and In January and none of those players actually improved our first 11. While I understand we can't compete with City and Man Utd we really should be doing so much better with our spending. That right there is what needs to change first of all. We could have signed 3-4 top class players with that amount but instead we signed multiple squad fillers which we are suffering for now I have no faith in Marina in regards to transfers. We've appeared to have messed up multiple signings and also gone into complete panic mode these last two seasons by waiting till the last day of the transfer window to finish up our spending, multiple times we have missed out on our top targets and ended up with players that were 4th-5th choice, there also appears to be no actual plan in regards to building our squad From what I've read, Marina doesn't have any sort of footballing background. I feel one of the first things we need to do is get rid of her and bring in a actual footballing person to take her place

Jamal Lascelles
While Cahill gets a lot of hate, he's always been a very good defender and was also an England International. He only cost us 7 million He may well be a good player but he'd cost us 30 million and wouldn't improve our first 11. I guess i'm just tired of us buying squad fillers instead of actually looking to buy top players who improve us If we really want a CB then why not look at Toby Alderweireld? He will only have 1 year left on his contract and is unhappy at Spurs. If he has desires to stay in London then move might just be possible, he may cost around 50 million but we'd be adding a world class defender who would be a great partner for Christensen
-
Jamal Lascelles
i really don't see the point of this signing. While he's decent he's 25 next season and isn't going to get much better. He's also not exactly better than what we already have Sadly, this the exactly the type of signing we have a habit of making these last few years. Average, doesn't improve our first 11 and English
-
Victor Moses
I don't see a future for Moses at Chelsea in all honestly He's a decent wing back but nothing special, with Conte likely to leave we'll probably employ a manager who plays a back 4. I can't see Moses working as a RB and he's not good enough attacking wise to start on the wing for us

Squad
Was it his fault that we lost 3-0 at home to Bournemouth, 4-1 away to Watford and failed to beat a 10 man Leicester team at home? Or how about losing to Burnley 3-2 at home on the first day of the season? In those 3 games against Utd, City and Spurs we scored a total of 2 goals, you need goals to win games and you can't put that blame all on Christensen He's made mistakes but it's absolutely ridiculous to suggest he's the reason we will miss out on top 4
-
Andreas Christensen
Not all defenders but the likes of Smertin, Jarosik, Geremi, Johnson, Kezman and SWP all saw decent minutes in our 04-06 team
-
Squad
There's no denying that he's made mistakes and has cost us a few goals but it's actually delusional to believe that Christensen is the main reason we won't finish in the top 4 this season
-
Andreas Christensen
This guy seems to be getting a bit of hate recently. Ok, he's made a few mistakes this season but he's also shown his high potential He's 21, first time playing regularly in one of the hardest Leagues in the world and is playing for a seriously under performing team. He'll get so much better as the years go on I remember Rio Ferdinand made quite a few mistakes when he was younger and he has a very similar style of play as Christensen. Ferdinand went on to become of the best CBs in the League in the last 10-20 years
-
Squad
Please tell you aren't being serious in regards to Christensen? That is one of the most ridiculous things that I've seen written on this forum. Have you heard of RAWK? I think you'd feel at home over there

Squad
Let's get rid 10 players in one Summer. In that list we are getting rid of one of the most talented young CBs in the world and also we are getting rid of our best player and one of the best players in the League who was instrumental in our last two League wins, we will generate big money but without Champions League we may struggle to bring in the top players The board have made some awful decisions in the last few years but not even they would be so idiotic to do what you've just suggested

Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager
In fairness to Conte his other options in CM are Bakayoko and Drinkwater. While Fabregas doesn't really work great in a two we haven't actually got many options. If we played a 3 man midfield in a 3-5-2 we'd have lost an attacking player in a game we need to win The board absolutely f**ked us over in the Summer with some atrocious signings, but this team should still be good enough for top 4. We were 3rd in January, 1 point behind Utd, 2 points ahead of Liverpool and 6 points ahead of Spurs. In these last few months Conte has looked like he doesn't give a sh*t and has made some awful tactical decisions
-
Marcos Alonso
Alonso is a hard one. He's obviously a very good player with a beauty of a left foot and technically good but his lack of agility, acceleration and pace is a problem. If he had the physical qualities of Kyle Walker he'd easily be one best wing backs in the world In some positions on the pitch pace isn't a major issue, but at wing back it's probably one of the most important qualities along with acceleration and agility. Alonso just doesn't have the physical ability to relentlessly get up and down the pitch all game, while he scores a few goals and is a great finisher our buildup play sometimes suffers because he doesn't stretch the play enough and is unable to go past players, he also suffers defensively at times and struggles to get back I look at Kyle Walker, he isn't a great footballer or a great defender and isn't blessed with great technical ability but due to being an amazing athlete he makes a great wing back. His ability to get up and down the pitch, stretch play and use his pace to recover in defence are amazing Also I do wonder if Alonso would work as a LB. If Conte does go it's quite likely we'll probably move to a back 4 with a new manager. Alonso isn't being great at 1 on 1 defending, he wouldn't have an extra CB to help cover for him and due to playing in a slightly more defensive position he'd be unlikely to get as much goal scoring opportunities I'd like to see Emerson get a few games, I feel Alonso needs a rest, he's basically played non-stop for almost two years. Emerson was quite highly rated at Roma and stats wise was very similar to Sandro. He's also looked good when he has played for us

Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager
I've mentioned this in another thread but I'll say it again. Using the likes of AVB and De Boer as examples of why attacking football will fail are two awful examples. Both managers are pretty poor in all honestly Also, Sampaoli won the Copa America playing exciting, high intensity attacking football with Chile. Klopp won back to back Bundesliga titles playing exciting, high intensity attacking football and beating a superior team in Bayern Munich. At Liverpool the season before Klopp took over they finished 6th, when he eventually took over from Rodgers the following season in October Liverpool were in 10th place and a complete and utter mess, they are now a Champions League outfit and currently sit 3rd, while they haven't won anything yet they've constantly gotten better since Klopp took over I have no idea why you're against someone like Tuchel. I'd like to hear your reason for thinking he's not good enough?
-
Thomas Tuchel
But then you look at Conte's body language, especially compared to last season and you have a man that knows he's not going to be around next season There's been a few reports from pretty reliable sources saying that at some point Tuchel has met with our board and now there's reports saying that Tuchel has already signed with a club for next season
-
Thomas Tuchel
I keep hearing this excuse when we get linked to managers like Sarri and Tuchel, how AVB was disaster and it would be a similar scenario for other managers who played attacking football. Firstly AVB isn't much of a great manager, apart from dominating with a seriously talented Porto side he's done f**k all in his career, his last two stints have been in Russia and China. He's not a top manager so he was always going to fail at Chelsea regardless of the style of play, secondly he was a bit of a fool and went up against the likes of Terry, Lampard and Drogba, it was never going to end up well for him Secondly our squad right now is more than capable of playing attacking football, looking at our players we have quite a few technically gifted players, in defence Azpi, Christensen, Luiz and Alonso all have good technique. In midfield Fabregas is one of the most technically gifted players in the world and even Barkley has good technique and is a very good dribbler. Then you have the likes of Hazard, Willian and Morata who are all technically gifted While we'd need a few changes in our squad if we brought in Tuchel or someone similar to him we wouldn't need huge changes. For instance, if we replaced an ageing Cahill with someone like Alderweireld who looks likely to leave Spurs, brought in someone like Julian Weigl from Dortmund in midfield and replaced Pedro for someone like Bailey we'd have a squad easily capable of adapting to a more possession based, attacking team ............................Courtois............................... Azpi..........Christensen..Alderweireld........Alonso ......................Weigl/Fabregas......................... ................Barkley..............Kante...................... Bailey/Willian...........Morata....................Hazard

Michy Batshuayi to Chelsea
Bats looks brilliant when he comes on as a sub for us, always pops up with a goal or causes the opposition problems. But when he actually starts a game it's a whole different story, doesn't really make much impact and looks lost I feel the fact that Conte chooses to play a false 9 when Morata is injured or being rested shows that he has no faith in Bats and he has no real future in our team

Random Rumours
Not sure why people are so keen on Zaha? Good player but that's about it. People moan about Willian not scoring enough yet the guy has outscored Zaha in almost every season and at 25 I doubt he's going to get any better We should be looking at the likes of Fekir, Malcom, Thomas Lemar and Leon Baily. All talented young players who would go straight into the first 11 and will all become even better in the next few years
-
Alvaro Morata
We definitely got the better deal with Morata than Utd have got with Lukaku Apart from scoring a few goals against the smaller sides, Lukaku really hasn't done much to justify his price tag and a few Utd fans are starting to see his limitations, he reminds me of a faster Mario Gomez, great at putting the ball in the back of the net against the weaker sides but goes missing when it really matters and offers nothing else Morata has already shown that he can stick the ball in the net on a regular basis, turn up against the big sides and has produced some fantastic link up play with the likes of Hazard and Fabregas
-
Thibaut Courtois
We got so lucky with Courtois coming along when he did. Finding a truly elite GK is a very hard task and replacing a legendary GK like Cech could have alsio been ridiculously hard. He's probably in the top 3 GKs in the world right now and is still only 25
-
Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend
Looking forward to him getting back into full flow. Been waiting long enough to see MPH all in action
-
Antonio Rudiger
His speed his seriously impressive especially for someone that 6 foot 3 Beast
-
Zappacosta
He appeared very good at running in from behind. There were a couple of times Fabregas was able to pick him out Regarding the goal, may have been a fluke but there's not many times you see a player basically run from one end of the pitch to the other with the ball. Could be a great attacking outlet on the counter

Random Rumours
Except we decided to sell or loan almost all our best young prospects

Are you worried about the squad size?
Iv'e defended the board quite a bit over the Summer but they have seriously messed up this Summer It's embarrassing how we've allowed ourselves to be in a position where we need at least 4 new players with 1 day left in the window. We've sold off the likes of Ake and Chalo for a combined total of less than 30 million, we've loaned out the likes of Van Ginkel, Baker, RLC and Pasalic and left our midfield woefully short, we've allowed Matic to go to Utd and I'm not even going to go into detail about the countless players we missed out on I literally can't get my head around selling Chalo and Ake to then spend 30-40 million on Drinkwater. I know Chalo was out of contract next season but we made 5 million out of selling him 2nd season in a row now where in complete panic mode trying to sign players on deadline day
