Luka Modric - I think it may happen?..
Not really sure about this Modric guy. He seems interesting with all his talent and young age but I'm not sure if he is strong enough. VDV seems strong, lets get him instead.

Win Sunday or Champions League
Your a Chelsea fan it is in your blood and part of your make up as a Chelsea fan !! It is part of our history which everyone in the family should embrace , foster , nuture feel it . It's what make's us Chelsea fans Short and succinct but possibly the greatest post ever written on either this forum or the old CSR. Nicely written. I admire the passion that is in your text Tea Bar Boy and I have to say it is making me think this whole CC vs. CL thing again but I still have to say I'd rather see us beat any team in CL final than win the CC this weekend. Maybe it will change some day.

There's only 1 Makalele.
The topic really says it all.

Win Sunday or Champions League
Carling Cup vs. Champions League. Easy choice for me. CL of course even if it is Spuds in the final. The hate for Spuds is not in my blood so to say like it is for many other in this forum. I appreciate it of course.

Is Malouda a FLOP yet?
Though Malouda's crosses and passes were horrible he is more in a defensive role on the left than for example Kalou. Kalou can't defend, at all. Malouda could be used as left back if needed. I think his mind is too much in defending when his attacking play doesn't work. I bet that Malouda's passes inside the box would be far more leathal(can't really use the word leathal with Kalou in the sentence) than Kalou's. Malouda just haven't visited the opposite's box too much during the season, he always seem to drag behind the attack. Kalou is 10 or more times inside the box in a good place to pass or score in a game. Not to defend Malouda too much he needs to pick up or he could be axed in the summer.

MOTM Away vs Olympiacos
Where was Essien? He shouldn't play on the spot he played yesterday. Maka was 80% of our posession with the ball and he was the only decent player on the pitch. Kalou was ok when he came in as well as Anelka but otherwise the brain and the legs were somewhere between heathrow and greece. The positive about this game was the fact that we played like crap and still didn't lose... At some point in the game I was saying to myself that "hope olympiacos scores so we would have to try". I just hate these "lets go and defend like he*l and hope for a goal" games. Next time I won't watch a game like that the whole 90mins.

Is Malouda a FLOP yet?
He is not a flop. He clearly needs time to settle and clearly he is not satisfied on his own game either. He tried to find his spot between Ballack, Drogba and A.Cole yesterday and he didn't know what he was doing in such a small place between them. He should have taken his place but due to his lack of confidence he didn't. Give him time!

Oh, you beat me to it..

Could we get our money back from Manure?
I have that feeling too. ManU has long traditions in these things probably so we don't stand a chance in these things even if it was due.

Paulo signs new contract!
Paolo is class in my opinion and glad to see him stay. Haven't really seen him play badly, maybe once. Paolo is underrated imo.

match thread -- Olympiacos v. Chelsea -- 1st leg (19-2-08)
I think Malouda just could start in this game. His passing skill in a game that is expected to be tight, defensive match could just be decisive. I know most of you don't agree with me with this but his one moment of passing magic can turn this game to our victory. He hasn't found his spot in our team yet but his skill is there that is for sure. Starting with Kalou is more risky since his defensive game is non-existent and I also think we are playing with a passive style in this game. My guess is: ...........Cech bell..riccy..JT..cole .........mikel........... essien.........lamps ......ballack........... joey/SWP..malouda ............DD............

Summer Transfers
Hope we can keep Paolo since he is the best backup right back any team can imagine. Class everytime he is on the pitch. Period. I would give Malouda the benefit of the doubt. He is really skilled player and has been giving decisive passes in games that he's sucked otherwise. When Drogs comes back to pair up with Anelka and Malouda on the left maybe he will bloom. Hope so anyway. Pizarro we should keep since he is okay backup. He has not complained and looks really lively when given the chance to play. He needs time. OUTS: Sidwell, Ben Haim, Sheva IN's: The dutch wonderkids: Huntelaar & VDV If VDV comes someone else could also leave from our midfield. SWP, Joey, Lamps??

Ess up four the Quad
Essien targets four titles...Gerrard Says Liverpool Targetting Fourth Spot ...there is a similarity in the targets of these two players.

we're now actively scouting van der Vaart
If Lamps or DD goes in the summer we just need to get over it and try and find a replacement for them. Personally I hope we try to get VDV but then we would have to give up either Lamps or Ballack from which I think Ballack is going to stay with us. Lampard is still one of the best players in his position and he will be for many years to come. Sometimes you just think that is Lampard's best days behind him and is his presence forcing us to play the way(style) we have played. Would VDV bring some flair and new ideas to our game? Sure, but that might cost us champioships etc.. tough questions IMO..

Ten Cate
I don't think so and I don't hope so.. I think ten cate is good enough to work as number one. I hope Avram takes his place as the director of football and TenCate+Clarke will be the managing duo just like Mad_mac was speculating. We could also bring in Zola or some other Chelsea legend to give their face and their influence to the club. I somehow like the way Spuds have Gus as their face. Young and upcoming lad with familiar face. Our face at the moment is Grant's, so do I need to say more. Just interested to know why you think Ten Cate is good enough to be our no 1? he never done very well in his last attempt and Grants record as manager is probobly better than his, add to that Grant is our manager and has been for five months so is gradually getting to know the players and what he can expect from them while planning his approach for next season and I really cant see a change for the sake of it, another person not liking Grants face maybe we could get Brad Pitt in to be the face for the press, that should make us play better haha. I knew someone is going to comment on that face thing. I dont want to emphasize that too much. Just said I like the way Spuds use Gus as their face. Well do you like Grants face Chippy ? That is a secondary thing but improvement is always welcomed in every department... He did well with Ajax and he was great sidekick for Rijkaard. Allegedly he was the brains behind Barca's game(looking things with blue tinted glasses of course) .. Grant has been great so far but he really seems to lack that one small quality that will turn big games for us. Okay it is maybe still too early to criticize him for that but it is 0/3 this season(loss to Manure, Ars*nal and not win against sorry Lpool) against big 3 teams. Remember how our playing style looked like Mourinho. You could tell it is Mourinho's team just by looking how determined the players look and how well the defence was organized. Now, there is not such a strong image of us being Grants team. By saying this I dont mean that lack of character means you cant win and actually I do think Avram has character. He just looks and sounds more of the director type. He is more of a diplomat. Ten Cate again looks like he has that spark in his eye and could give the team great spirit. Just by looking at statistics maybe Grant and TenCate are evenly matched but something says that TenCate looks more like our manager than Avram.

Drogba Wants to Stay Afterall
Yaya Toure talked with Drogs and now he really wants to go to Barca...go to skysports.com and read for yourself... One of many "DD wants to leave Chels" stories.

Chelsea v Liverfool
I think Ballack was too polite giving Lampard all the space in the midfield. He should have taken his place early on. Just don't understand why Lamps started. Ballack has been impressive ruling the midfield. It was really frustrating to watch the game when you could see that Liver*ool is really out of form and with better concentration and attacking minded game we could have killed the game in the first half.. Grant needs to take chances in these big games. He seems to be afraid to lose. He doesn't want to be the guy who ended our great home run. This time of the year we should use all the means to close the gap and we looked really reserved...
-
Chelsea v Liverfool
After this sort of display we need to question Avrams ability to edge out quality opponents.. Looked like Avram and the team was just trying to secure one point and wish for a win. Not the sort of mentality you win league with.. We gained one point on Manu but that is the only positive about this draw. Im not exited/impressed
-
Chelsea v Liverfool
Why are we playing like sh*t!!? We have no pace, no ideas, no passing, just coping with L'fools attacking... Changes in midfield! Ballack is useless and so is SWP... We are afraid to attack and I cant understand why...
-
Chelsea v Liverfool
We are playing really cautiously..we should attack! We are at home you know..I'm afraid we are going to concede the first goal...

Drogba Wants to Stay Afterall
As long as he is going to stay with us he is going to give similar statements. I want to leave, I want to go..It is just Drogba. I hope Anelka has good influence on him and he will persist Drogba to stay. With those two in our attack I think we have good chance of winning the CL.
